Atrocious
Not as advertised. Infested with mosquitoes. Very dirty. Outrageous management. Upon check in we were directed to park next to the motel in a dirty, debris filled lot that held two to three cars. That is the sum total of the parking. We were led up a long flight of stairs to check in. The check in person proudly showed us s table full of used lotions, creams snd bug sprays that we were “free” to use. The room was next to the bar and breakfast area. The utinsils for the morning meal were filthy. The room was hot. No problem. We turned the AC down a bit. It worked. We noticed a mosquito but didn’t pay it too much attention. The sleeper sofa was “wavy” and we joked how uncomfortable it looked. On of our party of three would have to sleep on it. Having just arrived, we went out on the town for awhile. When we returned, there were mosquitos infesting the room. We called the front desk for help. They brought us one of the used cans of insecticide that a prior guest had left behind. They also asked what we had done to cause the infestation? Had we left the door open? My girlfriend went to brush her teeth and saw that the water from the sink drained into the bathtub. Could this standing water in the nasty bathtub be the breeding ground got the mosquitos? She then slapped six mosquitos off her arms. We called the office again. They offered us a no pest strip. As there were no other rooms available on the island, we decided to attempt to tough it out. Within 30 minutes the army of mosquitos had descended in force. Enough was enough. I called and demanded another room. The condescending owner was indignant. He had no other rooms. He acted as if I was somehow at fault. I told him that the room was uninhabitable. We had to leave. He seemed to care less. After two hours, we finally found another room. We checked in and we’re settled in by 1:00 am. I left a message for the owner the next morning. He finally called back two days later. When I asked him about my refund, his indignation escalated to accusing me of leaving the door open and attracting mosquitos. “You checked in, you moved in, you left the foot open, you adjusted the AC, you owe for the room.” I’ve travelled all over the world. I’ve stayed in huts in equatorial Africa, tents in South America. Nothing compares to this horrible treatment snd gross misrepresentation. Be very careful find another place to sleep. Anyplace.
