About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5-6)

You will feel so much 'at home' in our beautiful Petite Maison, on the easily accessible ground floor of a lovely 17th century building, situated in one of Paris' most charming neighborhoods. Our little 'quartier' is featured in Frommer's 'Memorable Walks in Paris;' it is truly one of the most historic, lovingly preserved areas in the entire city.

Our historic two-bedroom, two-bath 820 s.f. pied a terre is tucked away on a serene side street; you'll awaken to the sounds of birds chirping in our private garden, along with the bells of the magnificent cathedral of Notre Dame, which appears like magic when you turn out of our front door.

Our 'little house' in the city (so-named by some Parisian friends) is just steps from the bouquinistes (booksellers) which line the Seine, and a five minute walk to the famous Place St. Michel and the excitement of the Latin Quarter. Within minutes you can see the Sorbonne, the Roman baths and Unicorn Tapestries at the Cluny Museum, take a quick stroll to Ile St. Louis, visit the Conciergerie where Marie Antoinette spent her waning days, or take in a fabulous classical concert at the famous St. Chappelle built by Louis the IX.

Our lovely neighborhood is very French, a rarified historic district filled with galleries, artisans, restaurants and unique shops. The wonderful open air market on Place Maubert is a three-minute walk, as is the Metro and a plethora of bakeries, wine purveyors and a fabulous cheese shop.

The apartment itself is exceedingly comfortable and handsomely furnished. It features two quiet bedrooms (one upstairs, and one down), each with a tres chic new en suite bathroom -- perfect for two couples or a family. Both can be made up with two twins, or one king sized bed. A comfortable day bed in the living room accommodates a fifth adult guest, or two small children. The spacious living room is a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine with friends and recount the day's adventures.

The recently renovated, gorgeous kitchen equipped with high end European appliances is fully equipped to whip up some French cuisine using your finds from the market at Place Maubert. Petite Maison's unique architectural features include classic 'tommettes' (old tiles) on the floor and a barrel vaulted brick ceiling in the living room. A striking iron chandelier illuminates the large dining table, where you can spread out your repast, and bask in the light from two walls of windows. We are also blessed with a private garden, a lovely place to enjoy a morning coffee during the warm summer months, and a working fireplace to keep you cozy on winter nights.

Our really wonderful Paris-based manager is just a phone call away should an unexpected problem arise. She is also available to assist with restaurant, event or tour reservations, as well as to arrange transportation. A personalized 'users guide' filled with our personal recommendations will help make the most of your sojourn in our favorite city in the world. French themed movies; a CD player with music library and travel guides are also on hand should you decide to enjoy a quiet evening 'chez nous.'

Please note that our cancellation policy is 90 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF OCCUPANCY - VRBO/HomeAway doesn't allow this option in their system, but in our experience, since European travelers normally plan/book their vacations far in advance, this period of time is required in order to re-book our rental. Your 50% deposit (required to reserve dates) is fully refundable up to 90 days before the date you arrive; once the balance is paid the reservation is non-refundable. We will process any deposit refunds outside of the VRBO system. We do recommend trip insurance to protect against any unforeseen circumstances. While you may drop your bags as early as 10 am, check in time is 3 pm if another guest is checking out the morning of your arrival; check-out is 10 am. Please keep these times in mind when make travel arrangements. We of course do our best to get you in as early as possible, but the only way to guarantee an early check in is to reserve the night prior to arrival.

If you are looking for lovely, comfortable and quiet accommodations just steps away from all the best Paris has to offer, look no further than Petite Maison. Please let us know if you have any questions, we would love to welcome you to Petite Maison!

"Chic and Charming" - Indeed!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented Le Petite Maison for our January visit to Paris after reading the description and the outstanding reviews of the property. It looked to be a great choice for our 8-day visit with our daughter and son-in-law - and indeed it was. I am not sure that I can add to the superlatives of the other reviews, but I can certainly provide my endorsement of the accuracy of the many 5-star reviews of this property.

As others have said, the apartment is absolutely beautiful, and the location (just across the Seine from Notre Dame) is perfect. The apartment is comfortable and very quiet, with a modern (and quite large, very well equipped) kitchen, excellent beds, and small but modern bathrooms. The interior decorating is indeed tasteful and chic, but, more importantly, very comfortable. After busy days of exploring Paris, it was nice to have the option of eating-in (either preparing the meal or picking up a pizza at the Italian restaurant just down the street). On other nights (when we had more energy), we had our pick of several excellent restaurants within a five-minute walk. Unfortunately, due to the chilly and rainy weather during our week in Paris, we did not get to enjoy the apartment's private patio.

The local property manager, Michelle Lollo, is an absolute delight to work with. She is charming, knowledgeable, responsive, and always helpful. Michelle went out of her way to provide ideas on places to eat and shop, lesser-known attractions of the city, logistics, etc. We all enjoyed her suggestions and appreciate her efforts to make our visit a memorable one.

My wife and I have visited Paris five times over the past 20 years, and on our next visit there is no question where we will stay. Once you've spent a wonderful week at Le Petite Maison, there's really no need to consider other options!

Perfect stay! All the comforts and service of a hotel with more space and conveniences!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Petite Maison. The information provided by Michelle before our stay was better than a hotel concierge. She arranged a driver to pick us up at the station and the apartment manager was there to show us around the spotless apartment. It felt SO Parisian. I loved the touches of guidebooks, movies, and books about Paris. The bed linens were extremely comfortable and clean. The location is perfection. We literally could hear the bells of Notre Dame in the morning. Loved the local open air market and all Michelle’s recommendations for groceries, a great baguette, and restaurants. St. Régis was our favorite, perfect for families. We will definitely be back! Can not say enough good things about this dream of an apartment in the heart of Paris.

An oasis of calm and comfort when you finally need a rest from the beauty and vibrancy of Paris

  • 5 of 5

Our third stay in one of Michelle’s apartments, and our second at Petit Maison. As previously, the apartment is beautifully presented, very well equipped, and ideally situated. It is literally a one minute walk to the front of Notre Dame (can be seen from the apartment’s front gates), yet once inside it is a sanctuary of calm and relaxation. Very, very quiet, but so close to everything. Walk right on the river front up to the Louvre, through Le Jardin des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde and up the Champs-Élysée to the Arc deTriomphe (affording as good or better a view than the Eiffel Tower, and no horrendous queues). Try not to miss the local markets at Place Maubert, just at the top of the street... great food and fun to pretend your a local. If you need wine, the proprietor at Le Vin qui Parle, just a few doors up Boulevard Saint Germaine from Place Maubert, really knows his wine and is extremely pleasant and helpful in helping you choose.

Back to the apartment, it really is truly very, very charming, comfortable, quiet, and has everything you need to live in very easily and comfortably.

On each occasion we have found Michelle Barker, the owner, to be extremely reputable and highly responsive and accommodating to all enquires. Similarly, Michelle Lollo, the local manager who greeted us on site, was very charming and informative, and couldn’t have been more helpful and accessible when we did have questions.

Rest assured you can rent this property with absolute confidence of having a great stay in Paris.

What a wonderful apartment. The owner has thought of everything! One could not have a more perfect location as a first time visitor or as someone returning to Paris. The common area is larger than it appears in pictures. The bedrooms and baths are tiny, but you are in Paris. We cooked a full meal in the well equipped kitchen. Lots of great restaurants and a market nearby. Hopefully we will return!

World Class Experience - If You're in Paris, do it Right!

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible gem. It really is as magnificent a property as it sounds in the advertisement. Steps from Notre Dame and the metro. Wonderful dining within 5 minute walk. You can hear the bells from Notre Dame from your fireside easy chair. Everything is incredibly clean, and the support staff reactive to any minor concern. We were well-taken care of at every turn, from reservation to departure. And please don't be wary of visiting Paris in the winter! Though the beautiful little garden outside the apartment isn't of much use in December, the local cafe's have heaters and lap blankets and you can still enjoy people watching from an outdoor table. And the crowds are so much more bearable this time of year. We loved it and hope to return.

Wonderful stay!

The apartment is in a perfect location to get anywhere in the city. We stayed with my three children. It was charming and easy. The beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are a little small but clean and newly renovated. We had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend!
