Why My Place is so Special
Ideal for two or three generation families, our mile long private, sandy beach is one of the finest anywhere. Together with your large, hilltop home on twenty acres with a pool, you have complete privacy, relaxation and enjoyment.
Crescent Surf Beach is grounded at one end by a turn-of-the century, enormous cottage built by my great-grandfather and at the other by Rachel Carson. Beyond the nesting birds there, warmer waters of Little River head to the sea twice daily, creating a Fishermen's haven.
It takes but five minutes walking from the Beautiful Farm to reach Crescent Surf Beach, on a private dirt road topped with beautiful huge pines and oaks.
Your twenty-acre farm is a unique treasure. It includes generations old apple orchard, gently rolling fields with colorful wild flowers, an ever changing tidal marsh, amazing oak, maple and high white pine.
Your house is so filled with light that the professional photographer who took the shots for VRBO said, 'This is the only place where I've never had to turn on lights to do a shoot.' The furniture is mostly new, attractive and comfortable. Enjoy the many works of museum quality, original art and art objects.
With huge decks, and windows, your architect brought the outdoors in. From the front you can see all the JULY 4th FIREWORKS from all the Kennebunks.
The Farm is divided into two parts. There are 3 bedrooms in the main part, the downstairs master bedroom with bath and two upstairs with one bath. The open living area features many large windows with views of rolling fields, marsh, some ocean and great sunrises. The just painted and appointed colorful kitchen adjoins the dining area.
Through a breezeway, and into the other part, four friends or additional family have their own space with two large bedrooms. The upstairs Ocean Bedroom has a gorgeous view of the ocean and the other, the Wood Bedroom has mesmerizing views of hummingbirds, fields and forest. Have coffee in bed and watch the birds. The Pool House has its own bathroom, breakfast nook plus a colorful sun room where you feel you are outdoors...and from it, you go right to the pool. The sunroom is ideal for small children to play and grandparents to be present on the comfortable couch.
A mowed area on a flat field adjacent to the west side of the house is ideal for outdoor games.
The in-ground 18 by 30 foot pool, under full sun, provides for real swimming and refreshing dips. It is 9' deep at one end and 3' at the other. An optional solar cover keeps the water several degrees warmer than normal. A hot and cold water shower is adjacent.
When leaving your nature paradise, you're only 2 miles to the fantastic resort town of Kennebunkport, 10 to Ogunquit and 40 to L.L.Bean and Freeport's outlet stores.
Quiet is ubiquitous. No neighbors in sight. The nearest paved road, Route 9, is so far away little traffic can be heard; you only hear surf and geese. Maybe you’ll spot the moose in the marsh, see photo. Nature, the beach and ocean, the pool, wildlife, wild flowers, the delights of summer await you at competitive pricing. Book now.
Keywords: Two beautiful private beaches. From on a 30 foot hill in your architect designed home, enjoy the best New England offers: acres of nature that would captivate Thoreau himself, along with the great Atlantic Ocean. Every one will love the large, in-ground pool. The water pump works 24/7 to maintain cleanliness. Lounge outdoors on three decks: one screened in, one on the East and one on the West. One is always perfect.
Outdoor activities abound: walk alone or with your dog on the beach or on the many trails; bird-watch; take nature photographs; kayak from nearby dock on the Mousam River or from the beach; fish for stripped bass at three locations; cycle private roads and star gaze into dark skies.

Helen purchased this house in 1890
My mother's ancestors moved here from Alfred, Maine, back in 1890, to be on the ocean. It is said these two beaches comprise the longest stretch of 'undeveloped' shoreline on the East Coast. Crescent Surf is so isolated, the U.S. Military stationed troops here during W.W.II., and once they scared my mother once when she came out of the water.
I moved here in 1978 with my two boys after I inherited the Farm with its twenty acres from my mother, Helen Parsons. I wanted my children to enjoy the wonders of country living and be able to attend the excellent schools of Kennebunk.
The Kennebunks have excellent activities for children, including the K.B.I.A. at Kennebunk Beach.
Col. Hart received all the lands between Little River and Great Hill as an acknowledgment of his contribution to the War of Independence. He chose the hill where my house sits for his home site, farmed the fields and hayed the marsh.
You can know you frequented the same beach as George W.H.Bush and Cole Porter. George during the last few years of his administration when he jogged it during the off season and Cole while he and my cousin were roommates at university and vacationed at my Aunt's.
Walk a labyrinth....draw one at low tide and enjoy.
We were an extended family group of nine, including two children ages 9 and 6. The two houses were well equipped and accommodated us quite well and the combination of the pool and the nearby beach was everything we hoped for. You really can't beat a seaside walk in the morning followed by a dip in the pool and then a full beach day after that. Not to mention great attractions nearby such as rare book store in Wells and Rachel Carson wildlife sanctuary.
Appliances were all good, everything worked, and the beauty of the surroundings and the quiet were all very pleasing.
We were charmed by the area and especially liked the sea roses everywhere near the water. We have great photographs.
Helen the owner was most helpful and we appreciated her input. She even left bug spray for us on the front porch!
It was a memorable vacation for all of us and we definitely plan to return!
Our family of grandparents, parents and young children gathered from far and wide for two weeks at the end of June. We really enjoyed the peaceful location, the roominess of the house, the excellent pool AND great weather.
The walk to the beach was a few steps too long for toddlers, who preferred to travel in the (provided) little red wagon. But the walk was worth it to enjoy the two lovely beaches accessible from the house.
When a couple of issues arose, Helen was extremely helpful and responded with same-day resolution. She was also most helpful during the booking process.
If we ever manage to gather everybody together again in the future, we would not hesitate to return here.
My husband and I stopped here for a week on our way down from Blue Hill where we visited with my sister. He's a writer and wanted to enjoy being quiet surrounded by nature before we went back to New York City. I shopped at the numerous antique shops in Wells and Arundel while he wrote.
We loved this home and all its comforts. The helpful owner pointed out the new windows, new refrigerator and redone kitchen and several other upgrades.
We both loved watching the birds preparing for winter, especially the ducks and geese in the marsh and overhead. The moose did not appear and the deer were elusive as hunting season had begun. We walked on the private roads and the beach everyday where we watched seals sleep on the rocks out in the ocean. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting a beautiful and comfortable place to enjoy some quiet time. Everything was very clean and well arranged. The queen bed was delightful and we saw a beautiful sunrise from it reflected on the woods. We plan to return next year and will recommend this home to our friends. B.K.
I spent a very pleasant week in this peaceful location with my family, parents and sister's family. Helen was very accommodating when I was trying to plan this vacation, also giving suggestions for things to do and where to get things like groceries from. The house is in a beautiful setting, well away from other houses with plenty of space to play outside for the kids. The pool was a wonderful addition, clean and a good size. The beach is a short walk down a dirt road and small path. Our children aged 9-12 could navigate this on their own. The beach itself is very small at high tide but widens out to a great flat play area when the tide goes out. We enjoyed many games of beach soccer, ultimate frisbee, and beach tennis. The water was cool, but delightful and the kids loved hunting in the rock pools for crabs. The house has many decks and nooks to find a sunny or shady spot to sit in to enjoy the peace, views and wildlife. We saw humming birds but the moose remained illusive. The screened porch was a great place to eat to avoid the mosquitos that emerged at dusk. We explored the nearby towns and beaches and a a fishing trip from Perkins Cove were a highlight, despite no fish to bring home. The house is definitely older, but comfortable and we really enjoyed the beautiful art hung around the house walls. Thank you Helen for a wonderful vacation.
This house could not be in a better location. It is wonderfully placed and beautifully secluded (you cannot see another house), up a track from a private road that runs by two beaches. You are far away from crowds, yet only 10 driving minutes from the summer hum of Kennebunkport. The open view from the windows is of countryside surrounded by woods, and there is part of the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge beyond.
The highlight is the two long and sandy private beaches, with access 10 minutes’ walk away. There was rarely anyone on them but us and the many busy birds. Helen leaves beach chairs at the top of the stairs, which saves a lot of fetching and carrying. We had to get used to the waxing and waning of the width of the beach but Helen had a chart on the fridge showing high and low tides. Our weather was variable (we had a spectacular hour and a half storm one evening) and there was often sea mist but we enjoyed walking on the beach even when it was cool.
The pool was a great advantage, especially for the kids (we were 6 adults and 6 children aged from 7 to babies), when a beach excursion felt like too much effort. And the newish barbecue played a major role. The several porches were appreciated.
Helen had kindly picked us a jugful of raspberries from the canes in the garden to welcome us and we continued to pick and enjoy them all week.
The house is accommodating and well equipped but needs some updating. We would have appreciated having the beds made for our arrival and some swimming towels.
We enjoyed eating at Earth, Pier 77 and the Cape Pier Chowder House at Cape Porpoise.
We spent a week with our family in the main house and rented the pool house for my two sisters and husbands. The private location is best selling feature of the house. The house needs some upgrades but works fine overall. The master bedroom is small but bedrooms in pool house are spacious. The fenced pool was very clean and perfect for the relaxing after the beach and great for the dogs to hang out with us. The greatest part of the house is access to a private beach - we rarely ran into other people. It's a 10 minute walk to a beautiful spot on a pristine beach near the dunes and the river. We rented paddle boards and a kayak which were a bit tough to get down to the beach but great fun. Location is close to both Kennebunk and Kennebunkport so good access to restaurants and shops.
The Ogunquit Summer Playhouse presents plays organized in NYC just for this theater and they generally excel.
There are beautiful golf courses and many places to kayak, hike or swim. The area is known for a wide-range of antiquing experiences and, in Kittery and Freeport, discount shopping centers.
