You'll enjoy the upscale casual elegance of this bright, cheerful West Indies style home decorated with quality furnishings and tasteful appointments. This sunny home is located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia across the Chesapeake Bay from Virginia Beach. An olympic-size pool and tennis are yours to enjoy on the golf side of Bay-Creek, a short 5 minute drive. Several restaurants offer the options of fine dining to very casual. Boating, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, jet skiing, antiquing, horseback riding, eco tours and Bay cruises will fill your days along with relaxing on the Marina's private beach just steps away from the front door -- or chill out inside and relish your escape to the comforts and amenities provided at 'Cape Escape'.

About Cape Charles Vacation Rentals

My sister, Barbara, and I own this house together. We are both real estate agents with very few weekends off but when they come along, this is one of our favorite ways to spend them. Our families were even more excited when we bought the house since they have more free time to play than we do. We furnished and decorated the house ourselves (which is a hobby for both of us) and had a great time doing it and love finding ways to make it better each time we have a guest. Everyone says we have the nicest house in Cape Charles! We love to think so, and hope you will too.

Cape Charles Vacation Rentals purchased this house in 2005

Why Cape Charles Vacation Rentals chose Eastern Shore Virginia

We went exploring on a rainy Easter weekend looking for a great place to escape to on occasion as well as a good investment. We discovered the charming historic town of Cape Charles and were so impressed with the development of the Bay Creek Resort and all it's amenities that we had to jump in with both feet. It took us about 20 minutes to make that decision!

What makes this house unique

You can spend the day golfing or boating or antiquing or just chill out on the beach or read a good book on the deck. We've tried out the great restaurants but love 'Aqua' which is in the Marina. Kelly's Pub on the 'main drag' of Cape Charles is a great casual hang out too, and the food is good! The town of Cape Charles is small and quite charming and takes you away from the 'workaday world' and all its stresses.

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you want a relaxing time at the beach, this is the place for you. It is a great place for the kids and the adults. The house is beautiful and so convenient to the beach, the pool, and an awesome small town where you can get the best seafood and shop for wonderful treasures. My family loved our weekend and are planning to return next year for a week. Debi from Virginia

Always perfect, great escape indeed!

Have stayed here numerous times since 2008. First time back with kids. House is set up great for everyone to have their own space, but also to be together. Teens LOVED the observatory on the third floor, which has great views of the bay ( sunset, especially ) and very comfortable couches. Toddler was well contained on main floor ( we brought our baby yard gates ), but also enjoyed so much open space to run and explore. House is truly appointed as you would want your own to be. The pictures are absolutely accurate - this house is as pretty in person as the pictures appear. The kitchen has everything you need and then some, along with quantities that don't require the dishwasher to be run after every meal. The bedrooms are spacious and beautiful with soft sheets ( how many rentals have you stayed in with scratchy, budget linens? Not this place!! ). When the weather is warmer, there is plenty of pool/beach gear - no need to fill up your vehicle with sand toys, towels, or chairs. Driving there via Route 50 East/ 13 South is a great scenic tour of the MD/VA Eastern Shore, and avoids the craziness of I-95/I-64 ( adds maybe 30 minutes overall, but far less stress ). We drove past NASA Wallops Island and went to Chincoteague National Park on our way home.

The owners are gracious to work with, and give you insight as to what to do while here. We walked the downtown beach, had facials ( Breezes Day Spa ), horseback riding ( this was the highlight of the trip for the preteen - went two days in a row! ), and just enjoyed being able to wind down. We did venture to Virginia Beach for the day, which is close enough (a little under an hour, on the engineering marvel Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel ) for a day trip. Easy drive to and from, and happy to come back from the hustle and bustle to the quaint serenity of Cape Charles.

I am already plotting how to make a summer visit happen:)

Amazing, Relaxing and Highly Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented the Great Escape to the Cape Escape home for Thanksgiving, and it was the best experience we could have hoped for! The house was big enough for everyone to spread out, and cozy enough for all of us to be together on the main floor. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, and we had lots of restaurants to choose from in the area when we got tired of leftovers. The house was also immaculate; literally sparking clean from top to bottom. I've never rented a house so carefully cared for! Also, for any questions we had, management was readily available, even though it was a holiday weekend. We will definitely consider the Great Escape again -- maybe for the summer! Thanks for a memorable experience!

More than expected! Amazing place!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time during our vacation at the Great Escape in Cape Charles. The house was amazing and exceeded our expectations! It was spacious, beautifully decorated, ideally located and exceptionally clean! We will certainly be back as this was one of the most relaxing vacations we've had in some time. Be sure to walk to the water (just a few steps from the house) to catch an amazing sunset!

We were pleasantly suprised!

  • 5 of 5

Not that we expected an unclean, small, undesirable home... Yet the home owners did surprise us with a wonderful welcome basket of goodies from a local store plus up-scale toiletries in every bathroom. The home is beautiful and comfortable with gorgeous views of the water and sunsets. We found the local people to be very friendly and relaxed. We were happy to stay at Cape Escape and learn more about Cape Charles.

Hope To Be Back !

  • 5 of 5

Hi Pat,

I (Melissa) just want to say thank you for this wonderful home! We have rented a few different homes, and are often disappointed. Before we get to a home I usually prepare myself to expect it to be not as nice as it looks online. Your home is even better than it looks online. Not only is it beautiful, but it is so well stocked with things we need. That is another area that is often disappointing in a a vacation rental. We have a large family and I love to cook, so it is so nice to have everything I need! It is obvious that you have considered what you would for want for your own family in a vacation home......beach towels, laundry soap, beautiful decor, etc.. Thank you for taking the extra time to make it a relaxing vacation for others! We are here to make memories with our children. I'm sure they will always talk about this wonderful home. I wish you could have heard the "ooohs & aahs" from them when we walked in! :) We will be enjoying the beach with them today. (which is in easy walking distance !) Thank you also for the lovely gift basket.

Many blessings to you -

Great House

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here the week leading up to July 4. House is wonderful. Spacious. Very well equipped. Great master bathroom. Top notch appliances etc. Nice extra touches -- welcome basket, beach towels; beach chairs and umbrellas in garage for guest use. Short stroll to little beach on bay. Very quiet. Cape Charles is VERY low-key. Only 45 minutes to Va Beach for beach town action/waves etc. Deposit returned timely.
