We thoroughly enjoyed the house. We were 13 and everyone was accommodated comfortably.
The house was completely as promised. There was adequate service in the kitchen for all.
The two fireplaces make for great gathering spots in the house. The fireplace in the kitchen/dining room was very welcome as we shared meals and / or played games at the kitchen table.
Okemo is very nearby, exactly as promised. The main mountain base is well organized.
A few of us did try Harrys (restaurant at JCT of 100/103) and found it to be very good. Be sure to think of reservations in advance.
Kids and adults had a great time sledding behind the house on a non ski day.
Great house for multiple families or a family reunion.
We had a great weekend stay at this charming farmhouse 10 minutes to Okemo and closer to Jackson Gore. It fit us all perfectly, had a ton of supplies and towels, firewood and sleds, it had everything we needed. Jon was extremely helpful to work with and more than patient with me with the arrangements. I can't wait for our next trip up with friends to rent the house again
A great old vermont farm house from 1789 on a quiet road. We wanted something close to Okemo for the MLK weekend, but not cookie cutter condo. It has modern conveniences including wireless internet and sat TV, dishwasher and electric stove. We enjoyed the two fabulous fireplaces and it had lots of room for the kids to play. The bathrooms need some cleaning(mold) and updating, but all in all enjoyed our stay very much. Agent/Owner was very easy to deal with.
We had a wonderful stay last Thanksgiving! Our group (consisting of a family of three, a couple, and two single pals) really enjoyed the house, The big table in the kitchen was a non-stop center of activity - either Scrabble games, jigsaw puzzles or great meals were buzzing. The living room is a nice quiet spot where we all enjoyed reading beside the fireplace. We love to take walks along the roads, and this area is gorgeous and traffic almost non-existent. The house is so flexible; the large back bedroom/area was great for the family of three, while the other bedrooms easily accommodated everyone's preferences. The house was clean, well stocked with kitchen items, linen and towels, and the owner's are very friendly and accommodating (even installing wireless broadband upon my inquiry). The location is an easy, quick drive to Ludlow for groceries, and only about 20 mins. to Rutland. We are all looking forward to another Thanksgiving at this wonderful farmhouse!
We rented the house for one week in July and had a wonderful time! The farmhouse is absoloutely beautiful! The rooms are simply but beautifully decorated and give the house a feeling of peace and tranquility. There is plenty of room with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and ample storage space for belongings. The dining area is quite big and we enjoyed the beautiful farmhouse table. There are lots of books to read in the bookcases and games to play- There is a tv, DVD player and VCR- but we did not use them. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans- we cooked/grilled every night. Everything was clean and well-maintained and Nancy the owner was lovely and accomodating. The setting of the house is on a quiet dirt road and backs up to a meadow and woods. I saw several deer in the meadows on some of our walks. It is quite close to Ludlow and attractions in the Okemo area. We went swimming at Echo Lake up the road, hiking in the Calvin Coolidge State Forest, visited Crowley Cheese and the Billings Farm Museum, and the Vermont Country Store. It was a hot summer but here you are in the mountains so there was a cool breeze and the house did not get hot. There are several good restaurants in the area closeby but with four kids in tow we elected to cook at home. Grocery stores are closeby in both Ludlow and Rutland. The house is only about 20 minutes from the Rutland airport. This is a beautiful house in an idyllic setting- I would love to be able to rent in the winter here and ski at the Nordic Centers nearby. WE thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to come again.
The house was just as it was advertised, price in line with expectation.
Mt. Holly is a lovely rural area just north of Ludlow. It is a short ride to Jackson Gore/Okemo and not far from Bear Mountain/Killington. There are many lakes in the region with public access for swimming, boating or x-county skiing and snowmobiling. Hiking trails are abundant in the nearby National Forests. There are many antique and craft stores in the area. William Austin Antiques, in Chester, is worth a visit. The Manchester shopping outlets are about 40 minutes away. Excellent cuisine can be found right in Mt. Holly at the very popular Harry's Cafe. Rutland, Killington and Ludlow have a nice assortment of good resturants.
