Perfect Home for the Holidays

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home as a base for our extended family to use for a week, while we all took turns going back and forth to our daughter's home in West Philly after the birth of their first baby. The house was very clean and smelled great, which are the ultimate things I look for in a rental. The bedrooms were spacious and the linens were lovely, as were the three bathrooms. We used the beds in the basement, and the heater kept us quite warm and cozy. The extra space in the basement was well- used by a busy two-year old...we brought a mini-tramp and some collapsible tunnels/ playhouse, and there was plenty of space for her to play while the grown-ups relaxed upstairs. We used the screened-in porch and the den often, as we broke into groups for games and chatting. TV and DVR and Internet all worked well. We enjoyed walking to the nearby playground and the library, and the local restaurants were fun to try. The owners put up some decor for the holidays, including a table-top tree, so we felt quite at home. We will definitely stay here again, as there was room for three couples to have private sleeping quarters, and we also had room another couple to join us for dinner with the leaf in the table. If necessary, the den could have been used to sleep another couple, so there is plenty of space here for a family retreat!

A truly lovely space, with plenty of room, clean and inviting.

  • 5 of 5

We rented this space for my family and it was our home away from home! Plenty of space for gathering together and also enough space for when you needed moments of time for quiet. We hosted a brunch and found the kitchen so well stocked that it was flexible to accommodate our visitors.

A private yard in a friendly neighborhood, plenty of room for parking and an environment where an early morning stroll felt safe and quite lovely to look at!

Couldn't have been happier with our choice and the Fenners were generous with making certain this would be easy and worry free!

I would highly recommend Bancroft cottage to you and your family!!!

Great home in quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with 4 adults and a 19 month old. We needed a full kitchen to cook for food allergies and it was easy to to find what we needed (pots/pans, spices, etc) in this great kitchen. We had some guests one evening and the open kitchen/dining area was great to have 4 more adults and another child.

The upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom which was challenging especially with a toddler but there is a shower/bathroom on the first level that we used. There are 2 single beds downstairs if needed with a space heater that are ok and very small bathroom that in extreme cold (we had freezing temps and snow/ice during the trip) was not really a good option; probably ok for 3 seasons.

It was very helpful to have washer/dryer to use but be sure to bring extra laundry soap as only 1 load of soap is provided.

Although we ate in often, we know the area well and went to PAPAS food market for GREAT Italian food to takeout -- spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, roasted peppers etc. There is also a DOLLAR TREE near by if you need soap, toiletries, spices etc.

This property was very clean and very well maintained and even had some Christmas decorations set up. There is a TV in LR and each upstairs bedroom which was convenient for to watch video with our grandson or TV shows, sports etc. Internet access is good and consistent.

This location is very convenient to PA, Philadelphia airport (40-45 mins) Wilmington train station (5-10 mins), I-95. The owners were flexible and agreed to early arrival.

I highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments and your input on the bathroom in the basement. We are going to look into putting an overhead heater/fan there like we installed in the upstairs bathroom. When we originally remodeled the home we were not considering putting beds in the basement, but the demand for groups of more than five prompted us to do that. Follow up: We installed an electric heater in the bathroom and a larger one in the main basement room.

Henrietta, NY

907 North Bancroft Blvd, Willmington, DE

Outstanding accommodations, great location, very nice, quiet, local neighborhood (with dozens of large established shade trees). Located 10-15 minutes of everything in greater Worthington (museums, libraries, Riverfront, restaurants, bars/pubs, grocery stores, etc.). Easy access to I-95 to get everywhere outside of Wilmington (including Philadelphia) in a reasonable time. Great walking streets and sidewalks. House itself has attractive architecture with modern conveniences, couldn't be more comfortable. Three full baths means no waiting. Enough beds for a large group. Roomy kitchen is incredible, appliances very "user friendly". A lot of spices, condiments, baking items, coffees, teas, oils, sauces, etc. in large pantry (probably a lot left by previous tenants, including us). Very comfortable eating table located close to kitchen prep area. A LOT of comfortable places to just relax, including a very nice screened porch. No outside noise gets in (not much anyway in this neighborhood). TVs in all bedrooms and family room. Large, modern washer and dryer. The comment that "all you need to bring is your toothbrush" is an accurate description. EVERYTHING you need to live, cook, sleep, shower is there (except for some personal tolitries and groceries). Owners and local property managers are very friendly and helpful. Off-street parking in back driveway is very convenient. Literally felt like we were living in "our" home.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

We would recommend this house highly. It’s in a safe neighborhood with parking behind the house in a one-car garage or in the back driveway. It has plenty of room with a very nice kitchen. The photos are accurate, the owner is very responsive, and there are signs posted throughout the house to make things easy for renters. Staying here made our visit to Wilmington just perfect.
