Sleep well in five private bed rooms with new matresses in this large Family retreat big house for you to enjoy 3600 sq foot at Lake DeSoto Executive home, which is owned and decorated by artist Cynthia with original paintings and pottery, secluded on beautiful Lake Desoto with private dock and swimming area for you. What makes it so nice is that our lake is not open to the general public, since you are in a gated community, you will only see a few boats on the lakes, even on holiday weekends in the summer time which also provide calmer waterskiing conditions at speeds up to 35 mph. We see about one to five toeing boats in the lake at one given time on a daily basis. There are over 200 acres of spring fed, sky blue water, and each tree-lined cove is home to bass, crappie, catfish, and bream. Lake Desoto offers some of the finest fishing and boating in central Arkansas. This house accommodates a large family with extra spacious rooms. In the summer months we only book by the week, Saturday to Saturday with only $400 down we will hold your reservation with a rental agreement.
The home is designed for large family gatherings; 90% of our guests use it for family reunions, anniversaries. All rooms are large with three bedrooms on the main floor: master br 18' by 16', adjacent master bath with jetted tub, separate shower and double vanity, that is two one king bedrooms, one queen bedroom and 2nd full bath on main floor. Then down stairs there are Two huge (20 by 19 and 18 by 16) bedrooms, both with two queen beds and a day bed with trundle ( 2 twins ) and one bathroom for the the lower level. Never run out of hot water as the home has a Rinnai continuous hot water system to provide plenty of hot water on demand.
Offstreet parking for 8-10 cars in front of the house is a real advantage compared to other rentals available.
We know the economy is tough and we just replaced the king and queen mattresses 11-24-15. There's no better value in Hot Springs Village and no bigger home for your family reunion to all be in 1 home instead of spread out in several homes. Take advantage of our offseason rate of only $1795/week from Sep.-May ( not summer). The summer rate is $1995 for a week booked only Saturday to Saturday, book from our web site.
Our home is the perfect place for several families to share the home (and cost!). Both levels have a 33 foot by 11 foot covered deck overlooking the lake to watch the wildlife and sunrise or moon.

Restaurants and fine dining is available at the clubhouses and just outside the main gate three miles from the house. WalMart supercenter is five miles from the house for any last minute needs.
The Family Games area at Hot Springs Village has a pool for everyone only two miles from the house. There is an Olympic size pool for swimming, an 11-foot dive tank with two diving boards, and wading pool for the youngsters.
Take in a game of basketball, enjoy miniature golf free if you bring your equipement or play tennis. The Family Games Area also has a new 3,000 square foot indoor games building that features ping pong, pool, air hockey, foosball, computer games, movies and board games.
Enjoy an indoor swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool and massage at the Coronado Fitness Center. There is also a comprehensive tennis center with 15 lighted courts.
Within a short 15 minute drive our guests have access to Lake Ouachita, the largest lake (40,100 acres) located entirely within Arkansas, renowned for its scenic beauty and clear waters. The EPA has rated it as the cleanest lake in the United States. The lake is virtually surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest and has one of Arkansas's most pristine shorelines at some 970 miles.
The 40-mile-long lake is a favorite of sailors for its vast stretches of open water. Scuba divers enjoy the clear waters. Recreational boating, water skiing and other water sports are also very popular on Lake Ouachita, which boasts more than 100 uninhabited islands for primitive camping.
For anglers, Lake Ouachita is well-known for its prolific fishing opportunities, especially for largemouth and hybrid striped bass. It consistently ranks in the top ten nationally for largemouth bass and is home to 1995 Bass Champion, Mark Davis.
Spend the day relaxing with a thermal bath and massage in the historic baths of Hot Springs National Park, or go shopping on Central Avenue. Stop in one of the many unique shops or fine art galleries (our manager, Cynthia, is a nationally recognized watercolor artist and instructor and has exhibited her work in the Artists Workshop Gallery at 610 central Ave in downtown Hot Springs). She also enjoys teaching workshops on Cruise Ships, in this home and at our Summit House location atop MT. Nebo State Park near Dardanelle, Arkansas.
The whole family will enjoy Magic Springs’ theme and water parks, Hot Springs National Park, the Mid-America Science Museum, Garvan Botanical Gardens, live music and magic shows and a host of other family-oriented attractions.
A national park, a leading thoroughbred racetrack, a 210-acre botanical garden, a combination theme and water park, and an arts community that's earned the city a ranking among America's Top Ten small arts towns are just some of the reasons the bustling resort town of Hot Springs -- the boyhood home of former U.S. President Bill Clinton -- is Arkansas's top tourist destination.
Art class for your group from owner Cynthia with materials and finished watercolor paintings for only $240 per day.
Bring your own boat or rentals are available at the marina on Lake DeSoto one mile from the house or ask us about renting Terry's pontoon boat by the day.

We are living on lake Desoto to enjoy swimming and fishing in our own back yard. This village is full of activities for everyone. It is great to be able to golf on different courses with a monthly property owner fee. We can choose from eight beautiful golf courses and boat on any 9 lakes here in the largest gated community in America. I am an artist exhibiting my paintings for sale at the Artist Workshop Gallery and the Fine Art Center of Hot Springs on both on Central Ave. I teach watercolor professionally at Arkansas Art Centers and on cruise ships traveling to different parts of the World. I thoroughly enjoy my time at home in Hot Springs Village. We enjoy walking downtown, going through the many art galleries, spending time at the Horse Races, or dropping in one of the historical bath houses for a bath & massage.
Cynthia or Daniel Schanink purchased this house in 2004
We have enjoyed the gated community with quiet neighbors that like to swim in the lake too. We lived in the country out side the village for more than 20 years and wanted to join the fun of living the good life by purchasing a house on Lake Desoto. Lake Desoto is the cleanest lake and first lake on a stream of others and this lake stays higher in the summer than any of the other 8 in the village. We have a no wake zone in our swim, fish, boating area so you will not be swamped by waves. Several people on our cove will swim the length for exercise in the evening.
This is a beautiful house with new vinyl plank flooring (stronger then wood) in the living area, dinning, kitchen and laundry room. We changed the mattresses 2016 to Gold Metal by Jordan Brothers for you sleeping comfort, please don't jump on the beds. Come have a great time on the lakes with wild life but no hunting is allowed in the village gated community. There are so many amenities with golf clubs, Coronado Center, theater, art shows, dance and restaurants. The temps are mild most of the year. Our guest can golf 18 holes cheaper at twigh light.
We enjoy going for boat rides or just relaxing on the patio down by the boat dock. There are numerous golf courses & restaurants within a few minutes of our vacation rental. We especially love the golf course views from the restaurants.
We had a great time this week with our whole family. This house has plenty of room and everything is provided except the food. We needed all eleven beds and wow did we sleep well on these new mattresses. We fish, swim, go to the play ground, go golfing at a decent price and play board games at night. There are even cook books and novels to read. It is such fun to see the children play the piano with a music book there.
Plenty of space for all of our family. Had a wonderful tim
We used this home for our family reunion and had plenty of room. 12 people stayed in this house comfortably and we had 5-6 more visit on a daily basis. More than enough seating both inside and outside and plenty of space for smaller group conversation. The kitchen was well equipped and the lake was easily accessible. We swam daily in the lake and were able to kayak and fish, as well. Thank you kindly for allowing us to create memories in your home.
Our family reunion was a great success. The DeSoto House worked really well as the central gathering place. All together we had 25 people. About half stayed at the house. The overflow was handled with a couple of nearby condos and HSV residents. The downstairs bedrooms work well for children to sleep while the party roared on upstairs.
HSV is near where we grew up; so we had several family friends in the area drop by.
The children and young adults enjoyed swimming, kayaking, fishing in lake DeSoto. And, found other attractions nearby -- The Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs, The Altitude Trampoline Park in Little Rock, The Coleman Mine Zip Line, and boating on Lake Balboa.
We stayed here starting on the 4th of July. We had a good sized group of people ranging in age from 14 to 70's. There was plenty of place for us all to stay and there was a large supply of plates and utensils to accommodate all of us. The 5 PM check in is difficult. The normal 3PM works better. As it was we could not get to the fireworks display because of the timing. While big, the place is very dirty. Most flat surfaces have dust and there is dirt and food pieces under the furniture. There are a lot of sings of things not to do. No smoking...not a problem, we understand. No throwing rocks in the lake...come on every kid does that! The master bedroom was fine except that the closet is locked out with owner storage and the bottom sheet is a fitted sheet with n elastic and too small for the bed. We wok up constantly laying on the mattress pad. There were other areas in the house that were also locked out as owner storage. This included the garage. There was also bricks, old fence, pallets, an old truck and other things stored around the place. The owner should consider a storage locker if they have too many items and not try to put it all in a rental property. They were responsive when the dishwasher backed up and came over right away. We would not stay again and we now note that it has been a long time since any review has been posted.
We so enjoyed this pretty house. Nice lake, Fishing, Swimming and only 15 miles from Downtown Hot Springs. Plenty of room. We had 10 people come for family reunion. The outside upper deck is a wonderful area to talk about the younger days! Thank you for sharing your pretty home with us!
I am an avid biker so we strapped our bikes on the back of our car for this trip. We were not disappointed! There were plenty of great bike paths to discover and conquer -- all near the house. The paths offered challenging hills, a great workout each morning, and beautiful scenery. Upon returning to the house, I sailed down the stairs and jumped into the cool, refreshing water of the lake. Now this is vacationing at its best!
My mother (who is in a wheelchair) joined us on this vacation. Sometimes destinations advertise themselves as being handicap accessible, but then we end up having to carry her wheelchair over bumps and crevices. Not so with this house! Even the small steps on the front porch have ramps for easy entrance and exit. We had no difficulty moving my mother's wheelchair about the first floor of the house.
Our kids loved the lake, the community pool, the party boat trip, the nearby rock stores, excursions through the mountains, and a couple of shopping trips to Hot Springs. This is the kind of place you can relax and not worry about what the kids may get into -- it's safe! The TV accesses some great music channels -- there's something for everybody. (Don't be overly concerned about the cable -- no premium channels that may be inappropriate for kids to watch.)
The adults enjoyed the nature around the house: peering down into the lake to see the little fishes swimming about, watching the turtles move about the inlet, and identifying birds through our binoculars. The stars are awesome to watch at night and we even saw a few streak across the night sky!
We had a couple of questions about the house and I was impressed that the owner answered the phone herself when we called. (This is not an automated phone answering machine that sends you to a never ending phone tree and then dumps you into a voicemail system!) She was very helpful and pleasant each time.
I recommend you reserve this place.....but not during the week I plan to return next summer!
