About Stephen Lutz

Stephen & Beth have lived in Asheville since 1982 so we know the area well. We have four grown children, love to travel, but also love to keep exploring our home town. We enjoy meeting new people and our guests.

Stephen Lutz purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Stephen Lutz chose Asheville

If you want to be close to downtown and the Biltmore Estate but don't want the hassle of a parking deck, our location is about as good as it gets.

What makes this apartment unique

A lot of love went into the building of Craftsman Cottage, from the beautiful custom woodwork to the deck overlooking the garden. We love it when guests take time to explore the grounds of our 1914 era Craftsman home.

Beautiful Place to Stay--Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay for our trip to Asheville. We love Craftsman architecture, and were delighted at the great attention to craftsman detail and design. Really nice.

The location was perfect too. Kenilworth is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood full of gorgeous old craftsman homes/mansions, but it is just down the hill to the Biltmore Estate and downtown Asheville, where most of our weekend was spent.

The owners, who live next door, are fun people with great ideas for restaurants and things to do. Tupelo Honey is a great place to eat that they told us about. They had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting on us when we arrived, which we enjoyed on the deck of the cottage, which is particularly lovely. It has vines with blooming roses growing along the rail of the deck with little lights interspersed, which makes it look and smell wonderful at night. This was a great place to stay, and we can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful and peaceful !

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and tastefully decorated, very comfortable and quiet. We especially liked the outdoor sitting area overlooking the landscape and hearing the birds and watching the squirrels. We would recommend to all our friends.

Charming rental

  • 5 of 5

The place is perfect. Everything you need is there, Comfortable and lovely. Smell the magnolias outside too. The only downside I can think of is that it is not secluded as it appears in the pictures. Other houses are very close and the fire pit is closer to the neighbors house. We strongly recommend staying here.

An oasis of tranquility so close to downtown and Biltmore Village

  • 5 of 5

I was in the Asheville area for some mountain biking with some friends from Atlanta and decided to stay at a vacation rental since I've been using VRBO to market my vacation rental on Whidbey Island for two years. Stephen and Beth did an amazing job with their Arts and Craft rental. The place is lavishly equipped and even has its own private deck overlooking a forested canyon. It's definitely the nicest place I've encountered in my VRBO staying experience. Can't wait to return!
