|Space||1,328 sq. ft.|
|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Quick stats: 842 inside/486 outside area.
No pets, no visitors younger than 18. Tenant 18-25 years must be with somebody older than 25. Before booking, please note that we are NOT near Nosara Yoga Institute or the surf in Guiones. 'Pelada' is the quiet end of the area, and 'wheels' are a BIG plus!
Calendar is always current.
Search for the "Casa-Banda" web site for more info, other rates, payment options and accommodations in the complex.
'Buena Vista' is a large studio apartment, perfect for longer stays of max 3 months. The entrance is on the ground level, but because of the slope of the property, the balcony facing the pool and ocean has a second story view!
There is a walk-in 'bodega' (storage room with metal door and dead bolt lock) big enough to keep all your valuables safe.
The condo, located in a very quiet area, is part of a six-apartment complex, all sharing the charcoal BBQ, the very large pool, and the outdoor shower.
Included in price is weekly maid service, local telephone service, fast, secure WiFi and different fruits when ready for eating.
For complete privacy, the property is nestled between lots of tropical plants and behind walls, locked gates and fences, allowing for "Clothing Optional Costa Rica" kind of living.
If you like life in the nude, please inquire even if the calendar looks like the unit is booked. We might just have reserved Casa Banda for the nudists/naturists at that time.
Owners live on the premises, making sure everything is in the best working order, so you can truly enjoy your stay in your 'Home away from Home'.
Getting around.: It takes 10-15 minute to walk to the beach or the mouth of Rio Nosara for swimming, fishing, and shell collecting. (Coming back takes a little bit longer, because it is up-hill part of the way.)
Also within walking distance: La Bodage Market, El Chivo restaurant, La Luna Restaurant, LaGarta Lodge, Leroy's River Tours, and Beate's Horseback Riding Tours.
Car or ATV is necessary for trips to Nosara Village and beyond. If you decide not to rent a vehicle for your entire stay, there is taxi service for a reasonable price and now five car rental places where you can rent for a few days.
Nearby Playa Guiones is one of the best surfing beaches in Costa Rica. Surf Guiones during the day, but stay in peace and quiet on top of the hill above Playa Pelada, where the breezes will make it cool and comfortable.
Between July and December, the Olive Ridley sea turtles come to Playa Ostional, half hour away, to nest. Seeing this is a truly amazing experience
Despite our Scandinavian roots, we have always turned our eyes to the South when traveling for pleasure. In 1980, we emigrated to Virginia and found a climate much better than what we were used to in Denmark, but our vacations would generally take us even further south – and always to bodies of water. Over the years, we have seen many beautiful places, but it was always good to go back home to Virginia.
Bibi purchased this studio in 2001
In the summer of 2000, we traveled to Nosara, Costa Rica for the first time. We stayed at a small resort, which a friend had made us aware of. It was love at first sight! Nosara had everything we like: beach, ocean, warm weather, tropical fruits, fresh fish, original, local flair and friendly people. For the first time, we felt very much “at home”. Nosara chose us to stay, and a building lot for sale nearby kept calling us. Building in a Central American country has been a very interesting experience! It has taken a little blood, lots of sweat and some tears - and more patience than we thought we had, but we love the result. We invite you to share in our dream.
Whether you just like to have lots of room or your office has to come with you on vacation, Buena Vista is the perfect apartment. Without being cramped, it is large enough for a full kitchen with a breakfast bar, a large dining table, a work desk, a king size, ocean view bed, full bath room, safe room, and a sitting that is just inside. Outside, on the covered balcony with sunset and ocean view, there is more room for dining, sitting and lounging in a hammock chair.
Because it is completely on a level below the top of the walls around the property, you will never have to put on clothes if you come during one of the 'Clothing Optional Costa Rica' long as you stay inside the walls, of course :-)
We absolutely loved our stay here at Casa Banda! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We can see the love you put into the creation of this paradise – your personal touches are everywhere. And to add to our enjoyment of your place, you outfitted the kitchen with everything needed to make meals – even spices! As Snow Birds, we travel with our own spices, knives that cut, etc. and never before have we found a kitchen like yours! Thank you so much for all your many thoughtful touches to help travelers feel at home!
We will miss those perfect sunsets, monkeys climbing through the trees, visits from coati while in the pool and those star filled nights.
Another great stay at one of our favorite clothing optional vacation spots. This is our second stay, having been here in February 2012, the first year of clothing optional. While we truly love Casa Banda, it just wouldn’t be the same without Arne and Bibi as hosts.
In this review, I’ve included portions of a more detailed trip report that includes a link to pictures. (no nudity) the full report is at Traveltalkonlone under the Nude Resorts, Beaches and Cruises section.
We stayed in the apartment called Buena Vista, the biggest of the one-bedroom units. While all of the apartments are nice and nicely appointed, we liked the extra space, especially the outdoor living space.
We cooked all of our meals the first week. We pre-order grass fed meats and eggs from Bibi’s supplier and they were in the freezer or fridge when we arrived. We also pre ordered organic produce from rainbow organic to be picked up on Saturdays. There is a grill and charcoal in the pool house addition to well-equipped kitchens in your apartment. This was the plan as we didn’t rent a car until the following Thursday. On our first visit, the car sat in the driveway most of the time. It’s so relaxing, it’s really kind of hard to put your clothes on and leave. Plus whenever someone goes to town, they usually ask if anyone wants to tag along or needs anything from the store.
The sunsets are absolutely spectacular as well. The sun is mostly unobstructed setting on the water and the clouds that are around, really light up. There are great sunsets from Casa Banda or you can put your clothes on and watch from the beach or just down the road at a sunset bar.
All in all, another great trip at a great place hosted by some really great people who have invested heavily in the facility to insure their guests have a great vacation The grounds are beautifully maintained, the bananas from their trees were ripe and more than you could possibly eat. During both visits, everyone got along fabulously, with email and contact info shared to stay in touch and coordinate future visits. It’s also worth noting almost without exception, when it’s time for a guest to leave, everyone gathers to say their goodbyes and there are hugs and often tears. You know it’s been a great vacation when that happens.

Nosara has taken longer than localities further up the coast to become a 'touristy' place, giving the local Civic Assoc. time to prevent the area from being too heavily developed and exploited. From our house on top of the hill above Playa Pelada, we see very few roofs, and only trees block the view of the beach. Playa Guiones, next beach to the south, has terrific surfing, some night life at many small and intimate restaurants, and some nice shopping options. For a wide variety of groceries, go to the village of Nosara, 5 miles inland, to shop at the same stores where the Ticos do their shopping. By the soccer field, you will find a little store with a great selection of local fruits and vegetables. For the best fish, go to 'Alex' in Garza. Local pink lobster for a very reasonable price - yumm!
Nosara is a slo-mo, laid back, beautiful, and friendly place to visit, and it has a way to get you hooked! Our returning guests can attest to just that.
Other Activities: turtle watching, river tours, canopy tours.
