Tom Flynn purchased this house in 1975

This was our return trip to this charming cottage - we were here in May of 2016 and loved every second of our stay. However, this time - not so much. We came back for an extended five nite stay to celebrate Valentine's day and a birthday. The cottage itself and location are charming and AMAZING. The space is relatively well appointed and the kitchen is very easy for preparing as many meals as you desire. The food and bread that can be foraged from the surrounding area are cooking foodies' dreams come true - do not miss BrickMaiden bread or Hog Island Oysters!! BUT, what happened to the housekeeping and cottage TLC?? Unfortunately, and maybe fortunately for us, we did not see the most recent February review of the cottage describing the missing shower head, hair in the bed, bugs on the floor and more, BEFORE we departed our home for the long drive from the Central Coast of California to Marshall. WHY - because we basically had the same experience.
We are hoping that attention is going to be paid to how special this lovely cottage is, and how amazing the raw native location really is. Honestly, with some attention to housekeeping details and a little TLC, the opportunity to stay here would be a dream come true and NOT to be missed.
The location of this house is amazing. At high tide the bay is under the house. It's like being on a boat without all of the rocking! Our last morning as the sun rose, I sat on the deck with my tea and watched the birds and seals play in the bay while off in the distance the elk could be seen and heard on Point Reyes. Just beautiful.
The house was very clean. The gas fireplace heats the whole house and was very cozy. The house has a wall of windows facing the bay including the loft bedroom. The stairs to the bedroom are not for the meek but well worth it. The Wifi was good.
If you plan to cook, note that the counter top convection/bake/microwave oven is small (inside dimensions: 11”Wx13”D, with only 2.5”H clearance for baking and 8”H clearance for convection -microwave cooking because of the required tray positions. It took reading the manual in order to figure out how it works). I could not fit my traditional Christmas casserole (11x13 plus handles) in the oven. Fortunately, they had a smaller pyrex dish at the house and I was able to spoon half of my casserole into it to cook half the first day and the other half the second day.
We hiked in Point Reyes every day and then came 'home' to a steamy hot tub. I'm not usually a hot tub person, but it was very clean and the view of the bay from the hot tub was unreal.
Rob, the property manager was very responsive and easy to work with.
This place is a gem.
This cozy cottage was perfect for my husband and I to escape our everyday routines and play tourists in our own backyard. The lofted bedroom with expansive windows made it feel like you were waking up in a paradise. The cottage was clean, well decorated, and we would definitely come back to this very same little house!
My husband and I spent a weekend at this absolutely charming cottage. The cottage is right on the water - we had our morning coffee on the deck, appreciating the tranquility and the sounds of local birds. The hot tub is wonderful. The cottage is conveniently located near the Marshall Store (best BBQ oysters) and Point Reyes Station and all of the great little shops. We brought in groceries and prepared most of our meals very comfortably in the perfectly stocked kitchen. Love this place and look forward to coming back soon! Thanks to Robert for quick and easy transactions and communication.
the location, the views, the perfectly stocked kitchen, the fire, the hot tub - this place was exquisite and romantic and just perfect.
The cottage has beautiful views of the water from every room and a wonderful bedroom loft that faces the water. The manager responded to inquiries quickly and was friendly and helpful. It was hard to leave the quiet, peaceful hideaway.

There is great beach walking and hiking all over the surrounding area including the remarkable Pt. Reyes National Seashore, but a very local tip: hiking is just a few hundred feet away up a very quiet country road (virtually no cars) through the Straus Creamery pasture lands (the first organic dairy west of the Mississippi). You can walk all the way to the top of the local beautiful hills. At the top of this road you can enjoy expansive views of Tomales Bay and Point Reyes Peninsula.
Also about 4 miles South, the Marconi Conference Center (a California Parks Foundation Facility), is a nice place to hike around and take in historical information and beautiful views. Marconi, as you may know, did the first trans-Pacific radio transmissions from this location.
