About Carrie Leardini

My family lives in Lewiston, NY and we love to spend time in Ellicottville with our family and friends. We have started a family of our own and can't wait to bring our 3 children to Ellicottville to ski! We enjoy the off-season just as much. We are close to state land and enjoy taking hikes and mountain biking on the trails.

Carrie Leardini purchased this chalet in 2008

Why Carrie Leardini chose Great Valley

Ellicottville is the perfect getaway in any season. There is XC and downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing and snowmobiling in the winter; Hiking, mountain biking and golf in the spring, summer and fall. Weekend festivals and antiquing are always an option in any season! Simply relax and enjoy the mountain view in front of the wood burning fireplace or, outdoors, with the granite lined fire-pit. The chalet is close enough for a weekend getaway from many locations.

In an effort to be fair to all potential travelers, we only reserve dates upon payment. Requests for availability are welcomed, but not binding until payment is received.

What makes this chalet unique

Privacy, privacy, privacy! Great for families or couples looking for a short drive to the village & ski resorts, but private setting to relax. Wooded lot allows for great hiking or adventures for the kids. Hillside yard is perfect for kids looking for sledding while adults overlook from the wrap around deck or inside next to a cozy fireplace. For those that can't detach - we have in-home WiFi service powered by HughesNet.

Pretty nice house for a smaller group

  • 4 of 5

Upon arrival, the house was spotless clean and fairly well stocked with standard needs, both kitchen and otherwise. The house was recently updated and that was apparent. the carpeting was excellent, and fixtures and furnishings were new. The WiFi internet was very slow and at times non-responsive.

There are a few things potential quests should be aware of. The staircase leading to the loft is steep and narrow. Getting luggage and larger items up the steps is difficult and young children should not go up and down without assistance.

The driveway is gravel, but if not frozen, it is muddy. The steps from the driveway to the deck are wooden and filled with gravel. These are difficult to use during inclement weather as snow makes the wood very slippery.

Be aware, the wood fireplace does not mean there is wood to use. You will have to bring or buy wood. Hauling firewood does have legal implications due to environmental concerns. The wood for purchase was delivered promptly, but was dumped on top of a tarp rather than using the tarp to cover the wood. Upon arrival the entire pile was soaked from rain, then snowfall. The wood is also not cheap, per the volume you receive.

The owners were wonderful to work with and even made arrangements to allow us to check in earlier due to a winter storm (rain changing to ice rather abruptly). They were also very responsive at all times, which is more than I can say for many other rentals we considered.

All in all a nice house to stay at, roomy, nicely updated, located close to Holiday Valley resort.

House was very nice! Spacious and cozy. Great layout with master bedroom upstairs and plenty of room for kids to spread out and relax on lower level. Wondeful kitchen. Tucked away enough for privacy but convenient drive to Holiday Valley and downtown Ellicottville

This is a beautiful property where we love to stay every time we visit the area

  • 5 of 5

The owners are very kind and helpful, and the place is gorgeous and spacious! Awesome chef's kitchen, washer/dryer, perfect size for families or couples, and it is so peaceful. A perfect location for us, near to EVL but also secluded just enough!

Very accommodating, clean, and spectacular place!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures that are postef don't do this place justice. The chalet is bigger than we thought, extremely clean, spacious, lots of windows and sliding doors to let in fresh air, lots of natural lighting, located in a very quiet area that is quite peaceful, and has a beautiful view.

There are two full bathrooms and a half bathroom that is a huge plus, large kitchen with everything you need, a propane grill, a fire pit, and a fireplace for the winter.

The owner is very thorough in preparing you for your stay, and is very polite and responsive in communicating with you.

I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again. Thanks again!

It was wonderful! A beautiful place and setting!

  • 5 of 5

The house setup is very nice. It was just the two of us, but when friends and family came to stay they loved having their privacy! The price was very reasonable and the host was always very helpful when needed.
