You'll enjoy our lovely and comfortable house right on the water as the perfect venue for fun with family & friends. It is a great place for just relaxing on the deck or taking your boat out for a day of skiing on the lake. Or you can do some fishing off our dock, visit nearby shopping areas, restaurants and golf courses,
Only 20 minutes to downtown Austin and the UT campus, the house an ideal home base for you and your guests when attending events and business conferences in Austin. Hastings Lakehouse is also minutes away from popular wedding venues such as House on the Hill, The Vista at Seward Hill, One World Theatre and many more SW of Austin.
While we are sure you will have a good time, this is not a place for parties. In keeping with City of Austin’s ordinance, no more than 6 unrelated adults can stay overnight in our lake house, and no more than 6 adults may be outside at any time. A maximum of 10 people may be on property at any one time, as long as there are no more than 6 unrelated adults. Failure to abide by these strictures will result in your immediate eviction from the premises, to protect our short-term rental license.
NOTE: Weekdays & holidays have a 3 night minimum stay, weekends, 2 nights. (The "rate calculator" doesn't always take this into consideration, but we hold to the minimums.:)
While we love kiddos, we want them to be safe. Because the house has so many steps, a fairly open loft, and its proximity to the water, for their safety, children under 6 years of age are not allowed.

We have a nice private boat dock & large deck above with great views. It has a powerful boat lift that accommodates most ski boats up to 24 feet & you can bring your own boat. (No pontoon boats on it, please.) The dock is only a few steps down from the house, so you can quickly hop in your boat and be on your way. Lake Austin is a constant level lake, so our boat lift is always usable. The nearest public boat ramp is about 5 miles away at the Loop 360 bridge.
On either side of the dock is a generous swimming area for a bracing dip in the cool waters of Lake Austin.
This home affords privacy, but is an easy trip in your boat to the Hula Hut (Mexican food), Ski Shores (for burgers) or County Line on the Lake (BBQ.) Ten minutes away is the fabulous Hill Country Galleria for shopping, restaurants & movies (including Whole Foods Market.) The Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve is close by if you’re interested in hiking & seeing the Texas Hill Country.
There is a convenience store just blocks away and HEB Supermarket and Whole Foods are just 10 minutes away for food or anything you may need. It's only takes about 20 minutes to get to downtown Austin, UT, the Convention Center, Zilker Park & the 6th Street entertainment district.
The house is a split-level home built on a hillside, designed by architect Robert Pringle. On the entry level is the 'middle' bedroom which has a queen-sized bed. There is a 40 inch TV with DVD player & cable in this room. Also on this level is a full bath with a shower.
Upstairs is the loft master bedroom with a king-sized bed. The master has a private balcony overlooking Lake Austin & the loft overlooks the living room. There are vertical blinds to close off for more visual privacy. There is a flat-screen TV with DVD/VCR in this bedroom and an iPod/iPhone clock radio. The master bath has a bathtub with shower along with double sinks & a separate vanity & 2 walk-in closets.
Also upstairs is the 3rd bedroom, with a twin daybed & trundle.
All bed linens & bath towels are provided. We can sleep 6 people in beds, 2 more on a queen sofa bed.
Downstairs is the living room with its soaring natural wood ceiling, a wall of lakeside windows & a lovely limestone fireplace. One sofa folds out into a queen-sized bed for sleeping accommodations. The house has WiFi, so if you need to work or do a little Internet surfing, you can do it easily. In the living room, we have a 60” LED HD TV with a Blu-ray player and Netflix access, but with the view from the house, deck & boat dock, you may never turn on any of the TVs at all!
The fully furnished kitchen includes a Jenn-Air range with optional grill. Our Energy Star dishwasher saves water & energy and is extra quiet! The oak table in the dining room seats eight & there is a rolling drop-leaf table for additional seating. The refrigerator has in-door ice & water. We’re fully stocked with lots of dinnerware & cooking utensils. Basic cooking supplies are on hand, (spices, flour, corn meal, popcorn, etc.) as well. Also on this level are the powder room & the laundry Energy Star washer & dryer. Just out the back door is a propane grill for doing a bit of outside grilling.
There are four ceiling fans in the home & two new air handling units to keep the house very comfortable in the summer or winter.
Adjacent to the house & overlooking the lake is a large tree shaded deck with three large pecan trees growing up next to and through the deck, or you can go out on the deck above the boat slip & enjoy the quiet, smooth water early in the morning & the sunsets in the evening.
You can cook out on the gas grill & dine under the stars on the house or boat deck. Outdoor tables on both decks make that easy. Relaxing on the boat deck as dusk falls is the perfect way to end the day. The deck above the boat dock is great for sunning, dining or entertaining. From the boat deck, watch the bats chasing insects in the summer as you enjoy a fabulous Hill Country sunset.
There is plenty of parking for 4-5 vehicles or 4+ your boat trailer. The house is at the end of a private road so there is no traffic (except the neighbors), but please do not block the gate to the last house on the road. Garbage pick-up is Fridays, so please be sure to have your trash out on Thursday night if you’re staying over a Friday.
Austin generally has a temperate climate year-round, so you can hop aboard your boat & be skiing in minutes, or go swimming off of the dock most of the year. If the water is too cold for you, do some early morning fishing, visit area shopping or just do some serious relaxing.
Families enjoy making this their “home base” when in town for weddings or family reunions. It is a good place, too, for the bride & groom's first night as a married couple. How romantic to be right on the lake to enjoy your first married night & morning.

About Mark Hastings
Hastings House is owned by the Hastings siblings- Annette, Mark & Scott. We all stayed in the Austin area, and all enjoy spending time at Hastings House with our friends and family, too. We hope you enjoy it as much as do we.
Why Mark Hastings chose Panorama Ranch
Our parents bought the property over 50 years ago based on the beautiful sunset views. The house was built in 1984. It is close enough to town that it is convenient to get to, yet far enough so that you can still get away.
What makes this House unique
Privacy with the constant level lake just a few feet away. A bit of Austin history in the old bricks from Congress Avenue over the fireplace. At Hastings House, it is easy to forget your cares and just relax.

Comfortable place right along the river.
Can’t recommend this place enough and the owner is especially nice. It’s a cozy place, and we enjoyed our stay immensely.
Casual Lake House for a Great Weekend Getaway
Great little Lakehouse! Was a perfect location away from the busier areas of the lake which worked out well. Having access to a boat dock with lift made this the perfect house for a relaxing weekend on the lake. House and docks could use a little bit of pressure washing but we came in late season so understandable. We will definitely come back again to the Hastings House!
So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again.
Very pretty property on the water that's a great little vacation spot.
Everything about the property was great. extremely clean and well maintained. Lots of time spent cooking in the kitchen which has everything thing you would need and huge open living room and dining room for lounging. We were unfortunately unable to enjoy the deck out on the lake due to weather (hurricane Harvey) for very long but was definitely a plus. I was always able to reach the owner immediately and was awesome to deal with it.
Loved this place!
This house is great. Located in a perfect spot on Lake Austin.
The house is older and a bit dated but that was no problem at all. It has everything you need to have a great vacation. Lots of room for everyone to spread out and be comfortable. There is construction on both sides right now so there is an early wake up call around 8. Easy access to the water and the stairs are a comfortable step, not steep at all.
There is a very sharp U-turn to get to the house and if you have problems backing a trailer, be prepared, it is doable. When leaving there is plenty of room to make the right turn (although it seems like you might not make it).
This is a perfect, affordable place to stay for your next Lake Austin trip.
Deck above dock shady until noon and porch shaded just right
Good location, clean and has everything you could need. Dock gets shade until noon and deck is perfectly shaded to watch family swim n fish. Good location n close to town.
A great relaxing vacation
My sister and her family stayed here for our family reunion and loved the place. Beautiful weather allowed them to hang out at the dock/deck all weekend but had fun playing games around the dining area when the rain set in. Overall a great experience. Our criticisms sound somewhat petty - the carpets are probably due for cleaning along with the deck windows and chairs. But that sounds pretty minor compared to the overall experience. My family and I thank you for the chance to stay there Mark and we look forward to staying again in the future!
