The Grape Escape is owned and operated by Carol & Virgil Beasley and their Portuguese Water Dog Kallie.
Carol Beasley purchased this house in 1999
The Grape Escape sits on it's own BioDynamic vineyard with panoramic views of the beautiful Dry Creek Mountains. The Grape Escape is unique for many reason but most for its location. The Grape Escape is just down a private country lane about five minutes outside of Historic Downtown Healdsburg and within minutes of three of the Wine Countrys most sought after valleys, the Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and the Russian River Valley.
This was our fourth stay at Grape Escape obviously we just love going there. Spending 2-3 nights with family and friends is ideal. It's a home away from home. It's well maintained and Carol and Virgil the owners live next door and they always stop by for a glass of wine with us. The town of Healdsburg is very close by if you can tear yourself away from the house. We rarely leave the house except to walk around a bit. Can't wait to go back!
The Grape Escape is absolutely lovely. The house is nestled among grapevines and as quiet as can be. The owners live in the large palazzo that can be seen from the front of the house and as readily and happily available to assist with guests needs and to make wonderful suggestions. The house is impeccably clean and has everything a guest could need from kitchen ware to towels and comfy beds. One could easily rent the house and move in without brining anything other than clothes!
The master bedroom is very large and has a huge ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. All 3 bathrooms are great and very comfortable for a couple to share. Bedrooms and bathrooms have lots of very practical and convenient storage. The decor is quite nice. The large outdoor deck is fabulous!! The views are great and there is enough shade - even shades to roll down if the sun is glaring when setting. We also enjoyed the hot tub.
All in all, this is a fantastic place to stay and feel at home - so much so that you will not want to leave!
The kitchen is wonderful to cook in - we had a group of 6 staying at the house and there was plenty of room for all of us to feel we could have private space as well as lots of different gathering areas where we could all hang out together. Perfect!!
Four girlfriends booked for a week of wine country and this home was perfect. Carol helped us with recommendations on spots to see, restaurants and wineries. We made the most of our week touring the area and did not spend a whole lot of time at the house. We should have taken more time to enjoy this beautiful home - it has everything you could want or need. And so very comfortable - I did not want to get out of bed - the mattress and bedding in the master bedroom had the touch of true luxury. And being close to Healdsburg was a great asset. Such a quaint town - super friendly with fun shopping. Book this place - you will not regret it!
Our group of five women from the east coast rented the Grape Escape as our home base for a wine country excursion. Happy to say, we had a great time! The house is not only gorgeous on the outside, but also spacious, beautifully appointed, and very comfortable on the inside. When we walked in we were greeted with a bottle of home-grown Zintensive Care and a vase full of Calla lilies from the garden. Then we looked at the rest: The fully-appointed modern kitchen, the roomy bedrooms, and the three full baths. Everything we needed.
In back there was a porch, patio, hot tub, and lots of seating to take in the view during the day, and the stars at night. The property is on acreage, and was perfect for taking daily walks down the long driveway and out to the country road. We were surrounded by rolling hills, gardens, and grape vines everywhere. In fact, the owners, Carol and Virgil, grow Zinfandel grapes on this vineyard land for one of the nearby Dry Creek wineries--and make a pretty fine private label, too!
Our hosts live just down the road, and it was a pleasure to meet them (and their dog Kallie) and talk to them about the area. Carol gave us good advice on local wineries and restaurants in Healdsburg and the area(along with places to avoid), and Virgil wowed us with a fantastic private barrel tasting and tutorial in his "cellar." The two of them really made the trip so memorable. Cheers to them! Hope to be back someday..
Three of my girlfriends and I rented this beautiful home for my 50th birthday celebration. As the other reviews suggest, it is even better in person than what you read on the website. The weekend could not have been better as the home was spacious and cozy, very warm and inviting. Carol, Virgil, and Kallie the dog, were there to greet us with a bucket full of wood for the wood-burning stove. After a quick tour, we settled in. It was nice to know that they were down the driveway in case we needed anything. We had planned to cook most of the weekend, and the kitchen did not disappoint. There was every possible utensil one would need for gourmet meals. It was a joy to wake up after a restful night on the comfy bed, and look out at the vineyards and orange trees. Since it was a little cool, we were able to fully enjoy the hot tub also. One of the highlights of the weekend was the barrel tasting with Virgil and learning about his wine-making process. The home was a very short drive into Healdsburg, and close to all the wineries that we wanted to visit.
I hope to come back to the Grape Escape someday, and I have been recommending it to many of my friends if they want to spend time in Wine Country. Debbie from Chicago.
Five of us returned after a very comfortable experience last year. This year, because we knew what to expect, we were better prepared to take advantage of the property's amenities. The hosts are personable and genuinely desire guests to have a memorable and trouble-free stay. Our group has been coming to the wine country for over 20 years and we are always looking to enjoy a mix of the best from past experiences along with something new. This year our timing was perfect, with the Beasley's offering an impromptu invitation to join in a club wine pressing and sample blending.
The property is accurately represented by the owners with the description and pictures here and, when reading others' reviews, the comments are spot on what you can expect. It is a quiet, very comfortable, well appointed property that is conveniently located to some of our favorite wineries and restaurants in the Sonoma Valley. We're certain to be back for a third stay!
