Martha's Vineyard House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, outdoor shower, sleeps 8

Come vacation at our family home in Oak Bluffs, close to town, but on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. The house sits on a corner double lot and has porches on three sides of the property. The house is located in the historic Copeland district where there is lots of space and a quiet setting. Both Circuit Avenue and the famous Inkwell beach are about a 7 minute walk away. The house is one block away from a playground, public tennis and basketball courts.

Inside the house, the whole first floor is living space with a kitchen, dining room that seats 10, TV/play room and a living room with comfortable seating for 8.The living room opens onto a beautiful wrap around front porch with rocking chairs and a hammock ,a great spot for morning coffee and afternoon sunsets. The kitchen opens onto a back patio and a screened in porch both looking over a large back yard .

Upstairs are four bedrooms arranged around a central hallway. There are also two bathrooms (one 1/2) upstairs. The bedrooms are ideal for families as there are two with pairs of single beds and one each with a queen and a double mattress. The bedroom with the queen bed has an attached 1/2 bath.

With town and the ferry just a short walk away, there is no need for a car, but the house does have a driveway and garage (complete with a basketball hoop) if you drive over.

About Mary DiCicco

You will be renting from Chris, Mark and Mary Culliton. In the picture Chris is on the left, and Mark and Mary are the two on the right (shown here with some close cousins). Mary and Mark live close by in the Boston area (Dorchester and Wellesley) and Chris is all the way out in LA. We always try and make at least one trip a year with all our families together at the house and otherwise sneak down whenever we can to enjoy the home we are so fortunate to own.

Mary DiCicco purchased this house in 1986

Why Mary DiCicco chose Martha's Vineyard

Our father bought this place in 1986 because he loved the Vineyard and loved spending time down there. He planned to retire there, but unfortunately he passed away before that and left the place to the three of us in 1996. My father was an outgoing and fun loving administrator at MIT where he not only led but also was active on the rugby club until the day he died. His spirit of welcome and joy is alive and well at the house. We all carry with us the belief that making time for friends and family is paramount and that a house is only truly alive if there are sounds of laughter and activity from dawn until well past dusk. The three of us have managed the rental of the property as a team since we took it over and love to share it with others.

What makes this house unique

The best thing about the house is how close it is to everything while absolutely feeling like it is tucked away from all the crowds. Walking or driving up to the house from Oak Bluffs, the first thing you see if the hammock swaying on the wrap around front porch and it is indicative of the feeling that comes over you. You know that you have put away your cares for the weekend or week or longer and that freedom awaits.

Lovely Vineyard home

  • 5 of 5

This place was wonderful. We love renting in Oak Bluffs because of easy accessibility to both town and beaches. Renting this house had the advantage of being away from traffic and noise, but being only a short walk from town and beaches. The house itself was clean, well-maintained, and perfect for our extended family. The outdoor spaces, both porches and yard, as well as the green space of Nashawena Park, were perfect for our active toddler. The owner was very helpful, responding in a timely manner to all inquiries. I would highly recommend this property.

Best location; Awesome for early fall

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a few days in early fall; easy walk from the ferry to the home. Location is so close to everything yet nestled very nicely in a quiet area. Home is large enough for several families, but doesn't feel overwhelming with just a few people. Owners are responsive and very easy to work with. Key features:

- great porch with hammock

- outdoor shower

- large backyard

- easy walk to ferry

- close to beach, restaurants, local attractions

- washer/dryer

You will not regret your stay here.

Perfect place

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have stayed at this house for several seasons for many years. You can feel the love and family when you stay at this lovely home. It has three full bedrooms upstairs and room to expand downstairs in the TV room. The outside shower make sure stay in Martha's Vineyard even more ideal. The house is located perfectly walking distance to the beach in Oakbluff's. To downtown Oak Bluffs and the ferry landing. So you really don't need a car when you stay there. It even has a washer and dryer so you feel truly at home. The wraparound porches are great to sit on in the mornings and in the afternoons before or after your beach events. Sit and watch the birds fly by. The street the house is located on has little to no traffic whatsoever so it's completely kid friendly and there's lots of fun to be had on the open green spaces that the street Nashuawena provides.

Our family travels from all different parts of the country to convene here at this house in Oak Bluffs. It provides many long-term memories for both young and old and I can't wait to get back there every year. There is no other place that I would rather stay on the island of Martha's Vineyard.

NO stress..No mess...a true family vacation!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Location! Location! Location! We can not say enough about our time spend on the island. Our pictures, as beautiful as they are, did not capture all the laughs, all the fun, and all the quality time we got to spend together. There were 7 of us--from age 11 to 83. We were in awe of the beauty that surrounded us from the cliffs at Gay Head to the sunset in Menemsha (honestly, our 3 children--16,14,&11 yrs. old sat so quietly as the last bit of light escaped the island that night. I will never forget it) We wanted to explore everyday and visit every light house. And our saving grace was that we had a "HOME" to rest in every night. This home sits on a corner lot, with a beautiful front porch and it is just a short walk to the ocean. My mother and mother-in-law enjoyed the walk thru the Methodist community of unique & pretty little Gingerbread Houses right in Oak Bluffs. The kids also jumped off the "Jaws" bridge which wasn't too far away and they even took in a fishing trip aboard The Skipper. The captain was awesome and the fresh catch was delicious! We took the fish home and made quite a meal out of it. We could not have done all we did if we stayed somewhere else--I TRULY BELIEVE THAT! You have to keep the kids busy and entertained while making sure the senior citizens have what they need and get rest as well. We would get up early, make a nice breakfast at home, head out for a bit and rest on the porch in the afternoon before going back out for fun and sight seeing. The house was plenty big--4 bedrooms (what we used as the master has a half bath which was so convenient). There is a huge dinning room table which we ate 90% of our meals at and a cozy den so Grandma could catch the news at night. There is also a screened in porch with a table for board game fun..but many games were played in the dinning room as well! The kitchen was FULLY LOADED AND THE HOUSE WAS VERY CLEAN!! With the 7 of us going, we just couldn't see spending the added money on eating out! We took advantage of everything that home had to offer. Our kids all play sports and our "normal" life is BUSY! We enjoyed the home and just being together. That's what made this vacation sooo special. It was kind of like "stop the world, I want to get off"... life is a busy roller coaster ride for many families. I am so appreciative that this family opened their home up to our family so we could have one of the best vacations ever--just relaxing!!! Thank you!! We'll be back!!

Real Vineyard!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house if you are looking for a real Martha's Vineyard experience, especially if you have kids. My family and I go every summer to the Vineyard and this is our favorite place to stay. It is centrally located, cool, realxed/funky in a good way, and big enough to hold a big group or large extended family. The house is in a great location for walking either to the little main street in Oak Bluffs (dinner, ice cream, shops) or the beach (the Ink Well is just down about three blocks). There is also a cute little tot-lot park about a block away. The house itself is a traditional old Vineyard house with wood floors and a big wrap around porch with rocking chairs that was perfect for afternoon drinks while the kids played in the yard. The back yard also had plenty of room to BBQ, play (they have bocci balls and stuff available), and relax in the shade (looks like the picture was taken in the winter as there was lots of trees and flowers in the garden when I've been there.) There is also a sweet outdoor shower. It is hard to beat this place. Honestly, if I hadn't already booked my dates, I wouldn't even want to let anyone else in on this place!

We have never had any problems with the house; it is always clean when we get there. Mary is very friendly and helpful with any questions we have had.
