We had a great time! The property is beautiful and we really enjoyed the view of the river. We cooked at the cabin but we we’re not able to BBQ it was not working well 😕but other than that this was a perfect vacation getaway! We will return.
Great Vacation cabin
Cabin was great well equipped with everything you needed. Lawn care needs a little attention, weeds were grown up around back porch does not look like they do any weed eating and they blew wet grass all over the side of a brand new Tahoe parked in driveway.
The house was great, very clean! We had everything we needed on the inside! REALLY NEED a couple more outdoor chairs(only 2 rockers)! They did have a nice outdoor table and 4 stools that my 2 granddaughters loved having breakfast on each morning!
second time staying
We had a great stay with a few minor problems. The cabin ceiling fans were all set for winter so the cabin took almost 8 hours to cool down. We changed these after we figured this out. Also there were multiple live roaches upstairs on bed pillows and ants downstairs in the living area, not kitchen. Over-all the cabin is clean, good supply of starter stuff and a pretty setting. The light outside probably needs to have a bug light for the summer. The swarm of insects at night was pretty fierce, and anytime the door opens, they swarmed in. We understand bugs, mountains and cabins go together, but having roaches and ants inside was not expected. We would definitely stay again, Doug is always very responsive, and we did not contact him at the time.
Those are not roaches - they are called water bugs and tend to come in when there has not been much rain. The cabin is sprayed regularly, but during these dry times may need extra. We have sprayed again and there are no signs of bugs. Overall, glad to here you had another good trip.
This house is a great getaway — it’s in a valley, and the river is about 5 minutes away. You can see it from the house, but not see the water or hear the rapids unless you walk down there. There were 4 chairs and a picnic table down the path I took. I was looking for a few days of quiet time, and that’s what I got. The house was 5 miles away from the “strip” in Hiawassee with restaurants and grocery stores, so all was convenient.
Glad to hear you had a great getaway and yes - we had a ton of rain before and during your stay and had some flooding in the pasture, so the path to river could not be cut. The drainage has since been fixed and direct path reopened. It is only 45 yards to the river and less than a minute walk. There is also chairs, a table, and fire pit on each end of the property.
Loved the cabin...everthing was exactly as advertised.
Property was well kept, and clean. I look forward to staying here again.

There are numerous waterfalls and hiking available. Brasstown Bald (Georgia's highest point) is 10 minutes away. Helen is just 20 minutes away. The Georgia Mountain Fair takes place in Hiawassee. There are also multiple golf courses.
