Minutes from the center of Rhinebeck, it is conveniently located to everything, day trips to Olana and antiquing in Hudson to a lunch at the CIA and a tour of FDR and the many historic mansions on the Hudson River. An easy distance from the Taconic Parkway, La Petite Maison makes visiting Omega or the kids at Bard, all the wonderful shopping and restaurants in Rhinebeck and the surrounding towns convenient. We are within walking distance from Rhinebeck Tennis club and the Performing Arts Center. Lose yourself in the country and stay connected with Wifi.
The cottage is best described as a tastefully renovated classic American farmhouse with a touch of France. It seamlessly drifts between Toile and American chestnut wide plank floors. The brand new bathroom affords a soak in the claw foot tub with European style hand held shower, while you peek out the windows at the wildlife in the gardens. Wide plank floors, plastered walls, vaulted ceiling and herbs out of the kitchen garden, the newly renovated kitchen invites the chef in all of us to create dishes to inspire. Enjoy dining al fresco on the blue stone patio just off the kitchen. The house is just right for curling around a good book as the fire crackles in the wood stove. With views of two ponds and streams with bridges, the outside spills into the house from a private garden for relaxing to fresh cut flowers in the rooms. We invite you to enjoy the thoughtful stocked kitchen, 700 count linens, and robes and fluffy towels.
The layout of the house is as follows: downstairs there is a full size bed in the small bedroom off of the front room. Upstairs are two bedrooms, you have to walk through one to get to the other one so it is ideal for families traveling with small children, this allows you to be side by side in rooms. We have a toddler bed in one room and king size bed in the other (the king can also convert into 2 twins). Also downstairs in the front room is a sleeper sofa, queen size.
Awed by the fact that this charming cottage-like house was built two years before George Washington took the oath of office as our first president, everything was seen and appreciated through this lens. The house sits among trees, shrubs, fields, with ponds nearby. That, and the sight of white rocking chairs on the front porch, invite serenity and a leveling of the spirit. The house is well-equipped and cozy, convenient to all the charms of the surrounding area and beyond. This was the perfect dwelling place for a coming together around the farmer's kitchen table of some of my friends and family members. Can't wait for spring.
My husband and I booked this lovely home for Labor Day Weekend. We live in the city and desperately needed to escape to the woods. Jennifer's adorable cottage is exactly what we needed. Upon our arrival on Friday we stopped in town to put up some wine and cheese, which we thoroughly enjoyed in the rocking chairs on the front porch. The rest of our trip was so relaxing we didn't want to leave! We were very grateful to Jennifer for being so accommodating to our schedule.
The property is accurately listed and it was very clean. My husband and I hope to go back for another weekend this fall so we can enjoy the wood stove and coziness of the cottage!
A girlfriend and I rented Jenn's house for the long 4th of July weekend. We could not have asked for a better experience! The house was the perfect size for the two of us (it could accommodate more but was not so large that the two of us were bouncing around a bunch of empty rooms); it was clean and well-equipped; Jenn was the perfect hostess - responsive and easy to reach; and we loved the combination of indoor-outdoor space (breakfast on the patio, the front porch). The location was a great jumping off point for excursions in the Hudson Valley. Next time we'll reserve at Jenn and her husband's very busy French restaurant in Rhinebeck!
We had a wonderful weekend in Rhinebeck, thanks in large part to Jennifer. The cottage is lovely - rustic and quaint - and a five minute drive to town. Jenn helped us with reservations at her family's restaurant, Le Petit Bistro, where we had a delicious meal and terrific service. She also suggestion some things to do and see in the area. Perfect low-key place to stay!
The cottage is just as pictured in a lovely rustic setting 5 minutes from the delightful town of Rhinebeck. Jennifer, the owner, went out of her way to make our stay comfortable, including re-configuring beds, leaving vases of fresh peonies sprinkled throughout the cottage, and answering questions about the area. We also greatly enjoyed the owners' restaurant, Le Petite Maison, which was excellent.
We had a lovely time at La Petite Maison over Memorial Day. First of all, the house is adorable and well kept and on a beautiful piece of land. But on top of that, Jen was so helpful when our car broke down. She checked in on us, offered us her services, and hooked us up with the local Subaru dealer, who came to the house to check out the car ON A HOLIDAY. She also lent me a bike, which was invaluable since the house is close enough to town, and biking in the area is phenomenal.
We loved sitting on the side patio and grilling. We were sad to leave.
