At 816 sq ft, (76 meters), this ground level studio apt., located in the heart of Capitol Hill, is more spacious then most one bedroom apts on The Hill. The unit offers city living w/ plenty of international accents. Whether it’s the Moroccan lanterns that cast exotic shadows in the open corridor, or the French coffee and pastries that lure you to the bistro-styled dining area, the French and American owners definitely have the “French Touch.” This unit is extremely spacious w/ its dedicated bedroom, living, dining, kitchen, reading nook & bathroom. The queen bed, twin day bed and futon couch in the living area accommodate up to 4 people comfortably.

YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME... The unit features a kitchen, dining area, bedroom, living room, with central air, washer/dryer, steam dishwasher, toaster, microwave, stove, granite counter-tops, accent lighting, exposed brick, ceramic floor, “California”-style closet, flat screen TV w/ cable, Nintendo Wii console and games, gas grill and free Wi-FI.

WE'VE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING... High-quality linen, bathrobes, slippers, luxury soaps, iron/board, dishes, coffee grinders, coffee makers, tea pot, champagne and wine glasses, cocktail shaker, luggage racks, playing cards, a first-aid kit, cooking and grilling utensils, eclectic with books for kids and adults, first aid kit and a handyman's toolkit.

We provide starter items so that you don't have to run to the store for basic things like condiments/seasonings, cooking oil, teas, sugar, washing detergent, paper goods, etc.

We even have a portable foot bath and salts for after those long walks around the National Mall.

OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR... Like Paris, Washington, DC is a walking city. Step outside the front entrance and explore both the popular and hidden treasures of Capitol Hill. A ten-minute walk takes you to bustling Eastern Market—-one of the only remaining merchant markets left in Washington. A trip on the weekend gives visitors a sense of the character and charm that residents and guests from all over the world have come to appreciate. Browse the craft stands of local artists and artisans or shop for antiques. Enjoy breakfast at the Market Lunch or pick up some fresh produce, fish or meat to bring back for the grill.

The unit is several blocks from the U.S. Capitol and minutes from the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Union Station and National Mall. Great location for Spring Break, Summer vacations and Fall/Winter Holidays.

PARKING: If you have a car, there is ample on-street parking and we'll provide a complimentary parking pass.

CONVENIENT TO KEY ATTRACTIONS: Within 10-20 minutes walking, you will find many significant American landmarks, museums, and monuments including the U.S. Capitol, U.S. Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, Folger Shakespeare Library, Union Station, the Marine Corps Barracks, and Congressional Cemetery. Venture down one of the historic residential alleyways like Archibald Walk and Brown’s Court. Each will tell a story of their own.

Walk, bike or take the train to other convenient sites and neighborhood including the White House, Arlington Cemetery, Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Woodley Park and Adams Morgan. Capital Bikeshare stations are blocks away in every direction.

Why Owner chose Washington DC

Location, Location, Location. We wanted to be close to the action, yet far enough away to enjoy a quiet night of sleep. It's easily accessible to major attraction and highways. The house was originally built in 1920 and totally renovated to include the most up-to-date amenities.

What makes this apartment unique

The unit is equipped with everything you need. Whatever is missing is only a request away. We're always available to assist. One guest described their visit as 'it was like staying with friends'. On the other hand, if you are totally self sufficient, you'll never see us. Only know we're a text or phone call away.

Fantastic apartment, great location, wonderful owners

The property was perfect for our family of four. The owners were wonderful to work with and secured us reservations at a great Georgetown restaurant. The apartment is conveniently located and had everything we needed for sightseeing and campus visits.

Spacious, clean and very nice neighborhood

We enjoyed our stay very much, the apartment was very nice, clean and well located. Carla was extremely nice and responded quickly to needs. Would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful place, location, neighborhood, & host

I would definitely recommend this place to family & friends, and will stay here again if we return to DC. We stayed for 5 days for a family vacation during 4th of July week. It was perfect for the 3 of us (and could have comfortably accommodated 1 more, or two little ones). This is a basement mother-in-law apartment, kept in perfect condition. All of the kitchen appliances seemed new, and Carla told us she had just replaced the queen and full mattresses - the beds were more comfortable than our own. Carla provides a selection of books and maps for exploring DC, as well as passes for street parking (there is often a fee for parking at hotels in DC). The neighborhood is charming and peaceful, and a short walk to many DC attractions. We didn't use our car once during our trip, since everything was so walkable. Carla herself is welcoming and helpful. She treated us like old friends. Thank you, Carla, for your hospitality! We hope to see you again!

The home was beautiful and the owners were wonderful!!!

It was my husband's first visit to Washington D.C. and I have to admit, I picked the perfect place to stay! The home was immaculate, beautiful, and wonderfully comfortable. The neighborhood was the perfect distance from museums and dining. Carla mentioned that a Capitol Bike Share dock was a few blocks away from the house. Touring all the monuments on bike was the perfect way to spend a day! The Eastern Market was within walking distance, so we were able to shop for evening meals every day. Fred and Carla were so nice and gracious! And, yes, we experienced Fred's perfect cup of European coffee. And yes, my husband is now the proud owner of an Aero Press :) I just can't say enough about what a wonderful experience it was to stay in this Capitol Hill home! If we ever visit again, we will definitely stay with Fred and Carla!

Wonderful stay here

This was a great find. Comfortable, well appointed, super comfortable bed, and the hosts were extremely responsive. I wish we had had more time to enjoy it than our too, too short weekend stay. They even provided a parking permit, which was great for our visitors. Its so convenient and walk-able to the Metro, Union Station and the National Mall, that we had no need for a car at all, and if we did want to go beyond walking distance, we never waited longer than a few minutes for an Uber. My ONLY complaint is that there was no control for A/C. There was a lockable screen door front and rear, which provided a nice cross ventilation. Though we did not take advantage of it, there is a lovely patio and barbecue grill accessible from the rear of the apartment. I would certainly stay here again, and not hesitate to recommend.
