CASA DEL SURFISTA is a unique and elegant home designed and built by local artist and architect Gustavo Jasso. Gustavo's use of organic materials and tropical style has turned our property into a relaxing, comfortable getaway. The house, completed in the fall of 2009, is sited on 1.5 acres with 330 feet of oceanfront. The walled property affords incredible privacy.
The main palapa is open air and includes two living rooms, two baths and a dining room and kitchen. The pool wraps around the lower living area. There is a huge bedroom loft above with its own bath. The loft has 3 kings. We have a bedroom nook off of the living room with it's own bath. We have a separate one room cabana that sleeps six and has air conditioning. Our home has one and a half acres of land and has 330 feet of beachfront in La Saladitas. It is extremely quiet and private with a wall around the entire property. Most days you will be the only one on the beach. We have created a private beach around the pool area as well.
SURFING at La Saladitas is a great place. We are one mile to the well known break La Saladitas (aka the wave machine) claiming the longest lefts in Mexico. La Saladitas is a great longboarder wave and great for kids. We also have a beach break right in front of the house if you are a shortboarder. Twenty minutes away is The Ranch. We have onsite caretaker named Paty that lives on property, and can be hired to prepare meals. Leonel her son lives on site as well and is a local surf instructor and can give lessons and take advanced groups to nearby breaks. He can also arrange for board rentals, and repairs. We suggest renting boards at Lourdes for convenience.
YOGA RETREATS can be arranged for an additional fee. We have an instructor from the US who will come down and personalize your yoga vacation. She is available at anytime with advanced notice. We have our own private beachfront platform overlooking the ocean. She also specializes in Thai massage.
All inclusive rates available. This would include all your meals, food preparation and clean up by Paty. Call or email to get rates.

WE JUST RECENTLY FINISHED OUR HOUSE IN LA SALADITA. WE PICKED THIS AREA BECAUSE THE WAVES, THE PEOPLE AND THE BEAUTY OF THE LANDSCAPE ARE ALL WONDERFUL. OUR HOUSE TOOK 2 YEARS TO BUILD. ALOT OF THOUGHT AND TIME WENT INTO ALL THE DETAILS OF OUT HOUSE. WE WANTED A VERY ORGANIC STYLE HOUSE WITH A FEELING OF RELAX AS SOON AS YOU WALK IN THE DOOR. THE DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY BRIGHT AND HAPPY. OUR UPSTAIRS LOFT HAS WOODEN FLOORS AND WITH THE PALAPA ROOF IT HAS A JAPANESE ZEN FEELING. THE CABINA IS ALL WHITE AND WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING FEELS MORE LIKE A FOUR SEASONS. WE HAVE ALL STYLES.
Pam Sweeney purchased this house in 2009
LA SALADITA IS A UNIQUE AREA. IT IS WELL KNOW BY SURFERS BUT HAS SO MUCH MORE TO OFFER. IT IS A VERY QUIET AREA NOT OVERBUILT AND EXTREMELEY BEAUTIFUL. THE WEATHER IS VERY CONSISTENT EVEN IN THE WINTER. THE TEMPERATURE IS ALWAYS BETWEEN 80-90 DEGREES. THE WATER IS ALWAYS IN THE 80'S. THE LOCAL PEOPLE ARE VERY NICE AND IF YOU SPEAK SPANISH THEY WILL TALK WITH YOU ALL DAY. THERE ARE ALSO MANY BREAKS TO CHOOSE FROM. TAKE A PANGA TO THE RANCH AND PALO ALTO, SURF SALADITAS OR SURF OUR WAVE INFRONT OF THE HOUSE. THERE ARE WAVES IN TRONCONES AND IXTAPA AS WELL IF YOU WANT TO EXPLORE THE COAST.
SURF YOUR OWN PRIVATE BREAK IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE
PRIVATE YOGA & PILATES PLATFORM ON THE BEACH OVERLOOKING THE WAVES
1.5 ACRES ON THE BEACH FOR LOTS OF PRIVACY
ENDLESS WALKING ON THE BEACH IN ANY DIRECTION
PERFECT FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES - SHALLOW END AT THE POOL WITH LOTS OF SHADY AREAS
PRIVATE WHITE BEACH UP AT THE POOL AREA
We had a great time at Casa Surfista. We loved the open air living and the house, beach, and ocean were perfect. Can't wait to go back...
We enjoyed a family (13 member) reunion with relatives coming from Colorado and New England. Everyone who joined us in Mexico at Casa del Surfista in La Saladita, Mexico had a fabulous time. None of us had ever been to Mexico or had surfed before. The pictures of the house do it justice, because it is beautiful. It is so comfortable during the day with the breeze coming off the ocean and we watched Pelicans surf the air currents off the waves as they flew in unison one behind the other. We all recommend you hire Patty to do your shopping, cooking and cleaning. It will be the best decision you make the whole trip. We enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice every morning along with fabulous pancakes. Refreshing evening beverages were refreshing that were made from fresh fruits. We requested light lunches, which were perfect. We often had left overs in tortillas with cheese seasoned with red and green chili sauce. Everyone loved the sauces. The guacamole produced by Patty was the best. We are missing sleeping with the continuous sound of the waves and the views of the ocean all day long. The evening sunsets are something the mountains in Colorado do not produce. The sleeping arrangements worked out great for our families. It is communal sleeping for six in the loft in the main house and sleeping for six in the Casita next door. There was room for four in a Cabana 20 meters from the main house. We all slept extremely well. We all loved the beds. Hearing the waves at night was special. An afternoon Siesta became a ritual for a lot of us. We all read a lot. Two books are a necessity for the week. We played games, and sat by the ocean and enjoyed the waves and company. Everyone was sad and not anxious to leave. There were a lot of hugs when we left from our new extended family. It would be helpful if someone in a party spoke Spanish. However with a Spanish/English, English/Spanish dictionary and with creative sign language we were able to communicate. We learned more Spanish while at the Casa Del Surfista and we all are committed to learning more Spanish. We flew into ZIH/Ixtapa airport and rented cars. Renting a car was the most frustrating thing we did the entire stay.
We made numerous day trips to the La Salidita’s surfing beach. Great place to learn to surf and only a ten minute drive away. We also made day trips to Troncones, Ixtapa, and Zihuatanejo.
I just returned from too few days at Casa Del Surfista-while I am not ready to retire- I could have stayed indefinitely. The accommodation's supported 3 families and a few bachelors with ease- never felling cramped, and always feeling like we owned our own private slice of the Pacific Ocean. When we were able to tear ourselves away from this tropical paradise, we enjoyed myriad adventures both on land and at sea and all close by. The locals were warm and friendly, even in the surf line up (which is rare)- and the Casa Del Surfista's hidden gem is the inclusion of Patty- the local caretaker who imparted the culture and cuisine of Mexico into our daily life. Whenever we returned from an activity the next meal with local flavor was presented and quickly demolished. Of course I will be back, but please don't expect to find the last week of March available- as I plan to annualize this trip/week forever. The sunsets, the waves, the friendships cemented in this all inclusive high end-low technology (no TV) environment were priceless. Thanks VRBO for opening my world to such affordable luxury! To the owners- thank you for opening up your very special home to my family and friends- Casa Del Surfista will forever been in our hearts- see you next year!
Casa Del Surfista in La Saladita was a refreshing experience. We flew into ZIH/Ixtapa airport and rented cars. Our drive to the house was only 45 minutes or so. It was a beautiful drive with gorgeous landscape. If you go in the rainy reason, be ready to have an adventure on back roads in your car but it is totally doable. We arrived at the house and were blown away. It is absolutely beautiful; the pictures are great but it is even better in person. It is all open-air and a very nice size. There is sleeping in the main house upstairs and then in the Casita next door. This is nice if you want to take an afternoon nap. Everything is very updated and in great condition. The furnishings are also very attractive. We hired Patty who lives on site to do the cooking and cleaning. This was the best decision we ever made. It was very affordable and the food was delicous! It was amazing to wake up to a perfectly made, authentic, healthy breakfast. She also made us lunch and dinner everyday. This is an absolute must. It takes the stress out of going to the grocery, cleaning the food, and cooking. The pool was beautiful, ocean spectacular, and surf amazing. We also made some day trips to Troncones, The Ranch, Ixtapa, and Ixtapa Island for snorkeling and fishing. There is so much to do in this area and it is very safe. The locals are also very nice. We did some excursions through Alejandro in Troncones. His business is across from Present Moment Yoga/Spa. He is the best. We had a wonderful time and recommend it for all.
After a long winter in the Rockies, this place was deluxe. We came with two families, with additional teenagers, and Casa Del Surfista exceeded our wildest dreams! The open-air layout, pool, excellent surfing both right down the beach as well as in La Saliditas, made this a trip to remember. The food was exquisitely prepared and served fresh daily, with local fruits and vegetables, meats, and was done so inexpensively. This place could be a romantic getaway for two couples, a yoga retreat for 10 gals, or, as we found out a wonderful vacation for families. The sunsets and strolling along the beach, beautiful!!
CASA DEL SURFISTA is a truly unique experience and possibly the most amazing house I’ve stayed in on this planet. We visited on my friend’s bachelor surf/adventure trip and stayed in awe our entire visit of the magnificent architecture, canvas of beautiful nightly stars (since no street lights obscure the view), rejuvenating ocean sounds, and blissful ocean wind. This place truly takes your breath away as you relax and marvel at it. A few reviews have complained about things that didn’t bother us. I chose to focus on the amazing ambiance.
Our trip was planned around proximity to the famous surf break called LAS SALADITAS (aka “the machine”) and Casa Del Surfista is about a 5 minute drive to Lourdes Bar and Grill which is the best access point for this famous surf break. Each day we really enjoyed surfing at Lourdes and then escaping back to our inspiring haven at Casa Del Surfista. There was a surf break in front of Casa Del Surfista but we spent a majority of our time surfing at Lourdes.
Our SUV rental fell through but we were still able to navigate to and from Casa Del Surfista in our mini-van (ha-ha-ha, we found it funny to be in one). If you go during the rainy season I would strongly recommend a SUV; we were there just after the rainy season ended.
The beach at Casa Del Surfista is very private, the entire week we stayed I think we only saw 4 other people on the beach (2 boys fishing a mile down the beach and father/son swimming briefly in the distance). It was a pleasant change from the East Coast US where you can rarely be on the beach without seeing dozens of people at any given time.
The caretaker and her family were very helpful and pleasant and keep the place beautiful and clean. We opted to have Patty cook a meal a day (either lunch or dinner) and every meal was delicious!
I arrived stressed out from my IT job but after a week of daily surfing, daily yoga, and recharging at Casa Del Surfista I came home an absolutely relaxed man!
One day I hope to return and with my family, they would also love the adventure!
We have a beach break in front of the house that is always empty. We are 1 mile to LaSalditas point break. We have a volleyball net set up at the house.
