OUT OF THE 189 one bedroom units at Honua Kai only SEVEN are located in the inner courtyard. They are also the only one bedroom units that have increased in value over the past 3 years! The reasons are as follows: 1) Big Ocean Views 2) Incredible night views over looking the big Hokulani pool and all the tiki torches that surround it and that surround Duke's Beach House. 3) If the trade winds are blowing, the inner courtyard protects you 4) No noise from the road or surrounding resorts. and 5) You look at the Honua Kai Resort not at somebody else's resort. Please take a look at our photos and you'll see that they are actual pictures of the unit and upon your arrival you will say that the pictures do not do this place justice. I say its the second best unit since there is only one stack of 1 bedroom units in the inner courtyard. There's seven floors and our unit is on the 6th floor. Also, know that this unit has the highly desirable 700 sq ft floorplan. This floorplan has a bathroom that has the separate tub and glass shower (not all in one) it has double sinks and you have dual access from the master bedroom and the living area. If you want to make your trip special this is the unit for you.

Honua Kai is the first whole ownership condo to be built on Kaanapali Beach in over 30 years. Most of the competition is requiring their owners to remodel their units to stay competitive with Honua Kai. This particular ocean view 1 bedroom is located in the inner courtyard.
This unit comes furnished and comes with the ULI color scheme as depicted in the photos. Interior appointments include:

We use a mainland phone number for convenience. We will also help with your luggage if you'd like, but the bellmen are all real good guys and more interested in showing 'Aloha' then caring who you are renting from. We provide high quality beach towels for your use at the pool and beach.

Just wanted to let you and Joe know that we had a wonderful time in Maui!! This unit was great and I especially loved the view from the balcony!

The room is exactly as pictured online. We were emailed by Joe and Rhonda a few weeks prior to arrival regarding the pool being closed down, they even allowed us to cancel or reschedule (we did not but loved that they offered, the other family we traveled with rented from another company and they were not given a heads up.) The room was a perfect size for a couple and we had our 5 yr old staying with us on the pull out sofa (our older daughter stayed in our friends 2 bedroom) I would not put more than 1 small child in the 1 bedroom- if traveling with 2 or more kids opt up for the 2 bedroom 2 bath. Our view was nice. The room was very clean. Paper towels, toilet paper, small shampoo/conditioner, Laundry soap were all in the unit. Kitchen had all utensils,pans, plates etc to cook your meals. Dry was painfully slow and you aren't allowed to put towels out on the balcony so you do end up with a large pile of wet sandy towels.
Our vacation started out a bit rocky with our departing flight being cancelled. Luckily we were able to reroute, but arrived to Maui five hours later than scheduled. We called Joe and he was very accommodating and met us at the condo upon our new arrival. We were warmly welcomed, given helpful information and tidbits and shown to our unit by Joe. It was so nice after a very long day of flying. The condo was beautiful and very clean! The pictures are exactly the way it looked! The view and lanai were wonderful. We spent much time enjoying the view while sitting on the lanai. The folding doors make it an extension to the condo. I can't say enough about the cleanliness and furnishings of the condo. We have pretty high standards with the cleanliness factor, and we were very impressed. My husband and I were traveling alone without our children. There were many families with young children around, but we did not mind the activity at all. We did not feel as though it was noisy or crowded. We were able to always get a chair at the pool areas. With the many pools and layout of the areas, it had the feel of an upscale resort as the grounds and pool furnishings were beautiful. The beach area was very nice as well with nice snorkeling for beginners. We had not snorkeled before, so we rented some gear from Snorkel Bob's and tried our hand at it. We ended up using the gear for the whole week. They were very helpful in 'suiting us up' as we were unsure as to what to do. Another activity we enjoyed was taking the Road to Hana tour. We recommend this, however plan for an entire day. If you get car sick, make sure to ask for the front seat when booking the excursion. We booked the excursion through the hotel concierge. She was able to set up everything. It was very helpful and easy to do. Rather than booking a tour up Haleakala, we decided to drive it after talking to the concierge. However, we would recommend that you take the tour up Haleakala rather than drive if you have a fear of heights (the least bit fear) as it is a very steep drive with road edge drop offs in many spots. Dining out can be expensive, but we found that eating in the condo was very enjoyable and more affordable. Groceries were a bit more expensive, but not outrageous. We definitely would recommend this condo and resort! It was great renting from Joe. We want to go back and share it with our children some day.
My boyfriend, myself and his two daughters 8 & 5 1/2 yo spent 8 days at Joe and Rhonda's Honua Kai condo. From beginning to end Joe and Rhonda were professional and went above and beyond.
We absolutely loved our stay. Joe was there to meet us as we drove up to the front of the Hokulani tower. He was very nice to let us check in a little early as our flight arrived at 10:30am. He gave us a tour before letting us into the room. The pictures are spot on...that really is your view! When our girls walked into our room #613 and saw the view, the youngest said "This is the best day ever!". The room has everything needed to hit the beach: boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, binoculars, ice chest. So after throwing our luggage into the room the first day, we loaded up and went down to the beach in front of the hotel to play until sunset :)
The kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything you need to cook. The one bedroom condo was a perfect size for the four of us. Our kids slept like rocks on the sofa couch. And the washer and dryer was a life safer to clean our dirty bathing suits and towels after being on the beach all day.
Thank you Joe and Rhonda for a wonderful vacation at a beautiful resort! We will be back!
Thank you Rhonda and Joe for making our stay at Honua Kai so wonderful! We were there for the week with family (which were staying in other rooms). We by far had the best view...it was beautiful! And we had everything we needed...from boogie boards to Maui coffee and champagne. It was so pretty, we were happy just spending some evenings on the patio relaxing. With the full kitchen we were able to eat in for breakfast and lunch and definitely save! Thank you again for the champagne, and being so nice to us during our visit. Maybe we wil get a chance to meet on our next visit!

There are only 7 inner courtyard 1 bedroom units in all of Honua Kai. For those of you returning to Honua Kai you know the difference and for our first timers the best way to sum up the difference is that the inner courtyard 1 bedrooms would sell for $1,000,000 and the exterior units sell for $825,000.
