Mid-coast Maine cottage on a bluff overlooking Pleasant Cove and 500 feet of tidal waterfront. Private, wooded 2.5 wf acres , yet only a few miles from the vibrant downtown of Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta with their shops and restaurants, boat tours and rentals, theatres and live music. Association dock access for your boat. Protected waters of the cove perfect for kayaking, canoeing and leisurely fishing for mackerel and striped bass in season. Fall colors are spectacular. a serene and peaceful place to relax with plenty to do year round. The cottage is set up for year round rentals with an oil furnace that keeps it toasty even in the middle of a Maine winter...a time when it is particularly beautiful and very quiet.
There are small local swimming beaches nearby, but for a large sand beach, Reid State Park is a short drive away.
Notice!: The cottage is on a high bluff close to the water with a wonderful view, and lots of area to explore along the shore or in the woods and along a small brook along one border of the property. But there are steep slopes in front of the cottage and on one side of it. The slopes are heavily treed and are too steep to children's play.
Really quaint cottage right on the water- we felt as though we were staying at a relative's place. A large winter storm hit the day we checked in, so we got an authentic Maine winter experience with snow :) Really pretty! This cottage is bigger than it looks on the pictures, 3 bedrooms with enough beds to sleep 8-10 people. The cove is really close, just a couple minutes walk down the hill. Boothbay Harbor is really close for shopping and eating. We ate breakfast a couple times at Baker's Way- good donuts and great coffee. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks again to Peter!
Serene with a view. This home was perfect for our family of 5 and our 2 little dogs. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. Owner Pete was pleasant to deal with and even came by to make sure we were all set with everything, Cozy yet we had plenty of room to spread out. We fished and collected shells. We also took days trips to Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid Lighthouse (just beautiful!), and went to Hollywood Casino in Bangor! We appreciated that there are only 2 steps to get into the building and 2 of the bedrooms are downstairs, good for the mobility challenged like myself. There is one bedroom upstairs with spiral staircase for the more limber of us. I would definitely recommend to friends. Thanks Pete!
We stayed at this adorable cottage to celebrate my Husband's Birthday. We were two couples and a friend. The house was neat, clean and tidy. There was plenty of room for all of us to be together, or have our own space. The layout of the house was perfect to enjoy the incredible view. Everything we needed was there. We enjoyed the beautiful sunrise, and lots of time on the deck watching the birds on the water. The location was super convenient for jaunts into town and exploring the area. It was very quiet, allowing for some much needed downtime. Good time, good food, good friends, great place. Thank you Peter for allowing us to enjoy your home. It truly is a special place.
We (2 gals and a dog) absolutely loved this quiet getaway. The real gem of the place is definitely its waterfront view, which is exactly as pictured here and clearly visible through the many large windows in the dining room, kitchen, and living room. Among other things, this peaceful cove is a birder's paradise, replete with all kinds of loons, diving ducks, woodpeckers --- we even saw a pair of falcons!
The furniture (including the master bed) is comfortable, the decorations are tasteful and pleasant, the kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and cookware (we cooked a lot of full meals during our stay), and the place overall is warm, clean, and inviting.
There is no cell phone service (at least for us) or wireless internet, so come prepared to unplug and relax! There is satellite TV (although we weren't able to access local network channels. hmm.) and lots of movies, as well as a stack of board games and other amuseuments. A neat stack of travel guides and area brochures (with hand-written recommendations) greet you upon arrival and so you are never lacking for things to do... although you may just want to sit and stare out at the cove!
The location is also great. Although the place is all by itself in the middle of the woods (on a short dirt road, which we easily traveled via Honda Civic), it's less than a 10-minute drive to scenic Boothbay Harbor, and around 20 minutes to the next peninsula east, where Damariscotta and Pemaquid Point are fantastic destinations.
Also, our dealings with the owner were so pleasant I have to mention that here.
We will definitely be back!
Nestled in the woods on the shore of Pleasant Cove, you're both very private and yet a short drive into Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta, and great shopping, dining, entertainment, summer and winter sports; the perfect getaway anytime of the year.
Other Activities: Sailing, fishing, whale watching, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, skating, Fall colors -- leaf peeping, bird watching, jogging,
Golf: The Boothbay Country Club is a public 18 hole course just 2 miles from our house.
Ski: There is good, family friendly skiing at the Lost Valley Ski Area in Auburn Maine and at the Camden Snow Bowl in Camden.
