Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Of Maui's 120 miles of coastline, six miles is Kihei Beach right at the front door of the Kihei Akahi beach condominium rentals. Because everything you might need is within walking distance, you can just park your car and start enjoying your vacation. It's that easy.

Kihei is known for its nearly perfect weather thanks to Haleakala, which rises up behind the town and holds the rain clouds in its 10,023-foot grip. Kihei, Maui receives only about 10 inches of rain a year. From here you have spectacular views over an impossibly azure sea towards the islands of Lanai, Molokini and Kahoolawe here in Hawaii. Once you set foot on the warm sand of Kihei's palm tree fringed beach, you won't want to ever leave.

An activities center is right on the Maui rental condominium property. Whether whale watching, snorkeling or an evening at a colorful luau, no designated driver is needed if you partake of some inviting tropical drinks along the way--because they pick you up and bring you back right to the Kihei Akahi, Maui rental condominium.

This unit comes with tennis rackets, snorkel gear, beach towels, umbrellas and even boogie boards. You should have everything you need to start enjoying the water the minute you step into the condo!

If it's your first time in Kihei on Maui Hawaii, not to be missed experiences are a sunrise from the top of Haleakala, a Wednesday evening of entertainment at the Wailea Shops, a spectacular day on Makena's 'Big Beach', and at least one outing onto the Hawaiian Pacific Ocean such as a snorkel tour or a sunset cruise.

The wonderful thing about staying at the Kihei Akahi Maui rental condominium is that you can plan as much or as little as you feel like--all effortlessly, spur of the moment. Like, planning to come back again and again.

Aloha nui loa!

About Donald Alber

I am an Entrepreneur with businesses in California and Washington. I have to travel a lot for work so when I go on vacation I like to go back to the same spots.

Donald Alber purchased this condo in 2006

Why Donald Alber chose Maui

Kihei offered all the things I was looking for in a vacation spot without the added 'tourist' premium. I liked having plenty of stores and restaurants close by while still being able to visit super premium properties like the Ritz. The beach is just across the street and offers great snorkeling, body surfing and perfect sand to relax in. I frequently encounter sea turtles while snorkeling and have never had bad weather for the whole day.

What makes this condo unique

The Akahi has 2 pools with great common spaces in between. It's easy to find chairs and open barbecues. The tennis courts are always nice for a little exercise and there is a great running path up to Wailea. This condo is on the top (6th) floor with amazing views of the ocean and mountain. It's angled just right so the balcony is mostly in the shade and the unit never gets too hot. 2 large elevators make getting into the unit painless.

this place is exceptionally good

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for a family of four. Right across the beach with great view of the sunset. It comes stocked with leisure items for inside and at the beach. Kitchen has almost everything we wanted for cooking and cleaning. 2 pools within 50 meters of suite. Overall we were pretty blown away by the condo and Kihei Akahi.

The whole property is beautiful

  • 3 of 5

This unit is far from a Penthouse. Requires some upgrading to the furniture . The place was well stocked in the kitchen and had lots of beach items such as chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas, noodles, snorkel gear, etc. Bed was comfortable. Overall it was a awesome time, how could it not be in Maui. A person doesn't spend much time in accommodations anyways so it was all good.

We enjoyed our stay

  • 4 of 5

The unit isn't in the best condition. I would describe it as a bachelor pad. The kitchen isn't one you'll want to cook in, but the basic amenities are all there.

The location is nice and the view is good if you angle your chairs to face to the right. We often saw blow holes and enjoyed the sunset every evening.

The location and condo is quiet.

The owner responded to our questions. It was confusing to know when you were dealing with the owner or his receptionist, but we don't expect much other than honesty and there were no issues with the condo during our stay which brought the owners honesty into question.

A good value if you don't need a fancy place to rest your head.

Miss-represented. K-Mart furniture, Dirty rugs & fan, Delaminating cupboards, NOT walkable to Wailea

  • 1 of 5

Word Penthouse is a scam. This listing is mis-represented.

—used K-Mart quality furniture. —really dirty and destroyed bathroom & kitchen rugs.

—security door dead bolt incorrectly installed.—bedroom ceiling fan that did not work, dresser fan with really dirty blades.

—safe attached to a movable rack-not the wall.—mattress cover that was melted so it felt like rocks.

—torn beach chair seat.—Gateway computer that never turned on.

—the view from the patio obstructed while sitting. You need to stand to have a nice view.

—no back cushions for the patio chairs.

—Kitchen cupboards were delaminating & no drawer pulls.

—patio screen door needed to be lifted in-order for it to open for closed.

The only person willing to help me with these issues was the housekeeper. The KA office would NOT help and another KA owner refused to come into the unit to verify my concerns.

The owner-contact e-mail bounced as not deliverable & other owner did not return my initial inquiry.

*******Below are words taken directly from the listing:

“Kitchen fully stocked for your comfort and includes top of the line amenities:” NOT top of the line. Only 1 small wine glass.

“computer with flat screen monitor and laser printer:” old Gateway computer did not turn on.

“NEW Beauty rest Pillow Top:” Destroyed mattress cover. Mattress was soft and very used.

“500 thread count sheets”— Sheets & pillows were well used and top sheet had a black mark on it.

“futon sofa bed in the living room for extra guests.”: I put a sheet over the old sofa. I did not open the sofa bed but it looked very thin and NOT a futon.

“five minute stroll to the border of Wailea and then Keawakapu Beach”: NOT TRUE—6 minute walk to Kam-2, 10 minute walk to Kam-3, 10 minute DRIVE to Wailea.

***************************

When dealing with business issues, I use e-mail or postal mail documenting the transaction. I did not call the phone numbers provided. I considered looking for a different unit to rent but, with only a one week trip, I decided not to waste a day looking for a unit and moving.

Fair price for great view

  • 3 of 5

The view is very good from the balcony. The bed is comfy, nice to have ice maker and kitchen is fairly well equipped. But, the cupboards need to be replaced, and most of the beach chairs and snorkel equipment is beyond using. If I owned it, I would do a major renovation. But, the price is fair and the pools and grounds are very nice. Great location across from Kamaole II and walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

Nice location in building C away from road traffic noise. Nice views of the ocean & mountains

  • 4 of 5

Had a delightful week at the property. Unit was clean and well stocked with beach toys, chairs, etc. Plenty of dishes and linens. Kitchen small rug needed cleaning or replaced as did the small bathroom rug. Sofa bed not very comfortable but many of them aren't. Nice location and well maintained, both room and the complex. Enjoyed the grills in pool area and being close to restaurants and beaches. Nice to have some food condiments so we didn't have to go out right away to get them. Internet was also very helpful. We would certainly recommend it to anyone. Bill & Barb
