This property has been in the family since 1948. We maintain the property as if we were living in it. When our parents passed away, it was decided to retain the property, and offer it as a rental, which we have done since 1996. This year we decided to offer the property for rent during the Notre Dame football season, which we haven't done before.
Even though we currently don't live there, we have spent many summers at the cottage. It is easy, comfortable, and simple living, with beautiful surroundings. Life becomes much easier when residing at the cottage.
My family has been renting this quaint cottage for a few years and we have LOVED it. I was looking to rent a summer place that had the feel of a summer cottage NOT a fancy lake house. It has been so wonderful to have a place where you can connect as a family. Cards, lawn games, barbeques, swimming (lake bottom is sandy), so many good memories! Enjoyed coffee in front room overlooking lake, the same room my husband would sneak a nap in..rarely see him this relaxed. Having the separate apartment over the garage was really nice. The only reason I am writing this review now is that my family has expanded and we will not be able to stay here again. Very sad about that as it has become "our Family cottage".. I suspect other renters have done the same thing : they don't want the secret to get out so they haven't written a review. Sue, the owner of this property is very friendly and has always checked to be sure we have everything we need and is readily available by phone. So if you are interested in a summer cottage on beautiful Diamond Lake, this place is for you!
We stayed for a few days at this cottage, which was adorable. It had a rustic great room with a large fireplace, perfect for relaxing after a day on the lake. Sleeping porch was comfortable and had great views of the lake. Sue, the owner, was very hospitable and thought of everything to make the cottage comfortable. The apartment over the garage was perfect for extra family to join us. Overall, I would highly recommend this property for a relaxing vacation on the lake.
