Our house is ideally located for quick access to Charleston and to the beaches of Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms (only a 10 minute drive). Mt. Pleasant has a charming historic area with harbor views for biking and walking, and numerous restaurants are within walking distance of our house, including the many waterfront seafood restaurants on Shem Creek. There's a weekly farmer's market 1 block away.
Two canoe/kayak outfitters and several deep-sea fishing boats are a five-minute walk from the house. You can rent our two kayaks for a small extra fee, and stand-up paddleboard lessons are given in the creek.
Fenced backyard. You can bring your boat and launch from the landing you can see from our sunroom.
We are only one block away from the starting line for the Charleston Bridge Run.
We grew up here and inherited the house. Dorothy teaches at a college in Gainesville, Fl. Ed and Martha live 40 miles north of Mt. Pleasant in McClellanville, where Ed works with the Francis Marion National Forest. Martha works in Charleston as a curator of historical archeology at the Charleston Museum.
This was a wonderful location. We really enjoyed being close to the historic sites in Charleston. The Isle of Palms was really fun. We spent a day at Magnolia Plantation. The house & gardens took several hours. Went to the slave cabins, but it was a very quick tour.
The house was truly a home away from home. Dorothy we appreciate you sharing this home with us.
Had a wonderful week. Kitchen is well stocked with dish ware, bedrooms are comfortable, sun porch was the most used room, new flat screen and a new love seat, not the one in pictures very nice plus washer and dryer. House is minutes from Sullivan's Island and about a 15 minute drive into Charleston. Nice private street very quiet. There's a boat launch at end of street with a nice few from sun porch. Neighborhood reasturants are very good and Shem creek reasturants only a few blocks away. Very large yard.
This house has a great location. We loved being so close to the boat ramp on the creek. We caught a few 6 ft sharks while on vacation.The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. Our 2 dogs loved having the large back yard to run and play. We really appreciated the owner returning our emails promptly. We enjoyed several restaurants in the area. You must try Paige's Orka Grill. I would definitely recommend this house for your vacation.
My husband and I enjoyed our week "home". We recently moved from the area and came down for a week for work. Dorothy was extremely helpful with the logistics and the location couldn't be any better, very nice walk to the shelter and wild wings, bed very comfortable and four legged child loved the huge backyard, she thought she was "free". I loved the salt and pepper shakers...... Reminded me of the good old days. Would absolutely stay again!
I can't even begin to describe how very happy we were that we found this home for our vacation. From the minute we pulled in, we were in love. The acre back yard that was fenced in for my Border Collies, the ability to walk to any store we needed and the Farmers Market. Our dogs were able to swim twice a day at the boat ramp and we met amazing people close by.
The house was amazing and the perfect size for me, my husband and 3 kids. Very cozy, clean and decorated with antiques. The girls loved the piano and the swing in the back yard. My parents came over one night to pick us up for dinner and were so jealous. They stayed at the Marriott Waterfront and paid close to $270.00 a night and were displeased with their stay their. They said that our idea to stay at this house was perfect. When we come back to Charleston, there is no denying that we will be staying in this lovely house again.
I loved this house my family really enjoyed the comfy beds n loved how we can walk to stores, restaurant s or just walk by the boat yard around the corner. Everything was clean the house was free from bugs the air conditioner was a plus so was the washer n dryer everything I needed was there. I will look foward to my next visit. The Gonzales family. ,
We thoroughly enjoyed our ten day stay in Mt. Pleasant in January 2015. Our communication prior to renting was helpful and beneficial to accomplish all that we had scheduled while visiting Charleston. The Mt. Pleasant home is comfortable, conveniently located and welcoming after a long day out and about. The home has three good size bedrooms, a bright living and dining room; we especially enjoyed the ambience of the home…it reminded us (with its mahogany furniture, large breakfront filled with china and crystal and a piano in the living room) of visits past with a lovely friend of ours in Connecticut. The large fenced in yard was wonderful to have available as our dog was traveling with us (how thoughtful of the owners to allow well mannered pets). Mt. Pleasant is located just across the Ravanel Bridge (a ten minute drive to downtown Charleston) and an easy twelve mile drive down Rt. 17 to the Medical University of South Carolina. It’s helpful that there is a basket of area brochures and several books about the area in the living room; lots to do and see in this wonderful waterfront area! Mt. Pleasant is a charming, historic village situated 10 minutes in either direction from historic Charleston and from the beaches of Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms. Our house is only about three blocks from many waterfront seafood restaurants looking out on the shrimping fleet of Shem Creek and about four blocks from the historic "Old Village" of Mt. Pleasant.
Other Activities: Weekly farmer's market 1 block away. Walking and biking in Old Village of Mt. Pleasant close by.

We do add $40/week per extra person above two guests, especially at very popular times of year.
I email you a contract, which you print and fill out. You mail the contract and a $300 reservation/damage deposit. One month before your check-in, you mail me a check for the rental amount. After you check out, the damage deposit is returned to you.
