Beautiful in all seasons---especially fall and winter.
We purchased this cabin new as a gathering place for family (especially for holidays) and friends. It has been expanded, decorated, landscaped and cared for as a personal lake home. It is truly a home away from home with all the comforts together with the beautiful out of doors setting.
Grant & Brenda purchased this chalet in 2009

Slim Lake is a pristine, clear water lake with maximum privacy. The shoreline is wooded and lots are typically 150' - 200+' of shoreline. The rustic visual nature is maintained by limiting clearing to 30' between cabin and lake. While it is only 2-3 hours from the Twin Cities, it offers both convenience and beautiful lake country experiences.
This is a great house, especially for a family and friends getaway vacation. The house has multiple indoor and outdoor living spaces for hanging out and eating. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare all kinds of meals. The grill on the deck overlooking the lake is located conveniently from the kitchen and screened in porch. The entire house is tastefully decorated and everything is in great condition and clean. A set of outdoor stairs take you right down to the lake where you will find a sizable dock. There is a great shallow area for young kids to play. It's a beautiful quiet lake for kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. You can also take motorized boats out. Hayward is an easy 30 minute drive for shopping and restaurants.
The cabin is spacious but cozy. We found it private but close to fantastic things our whole family enjoyed. The lake is pristine and quiet and kept us surround with breathtaking views. The kitchen is large and we prepared wonderful meals for our whole family.
The guest cabin and the loft provided ample space for 6 adults and 4 kids.
I'd highly recommend a trip to our new favorite place Schoolhouse Wines or grabbing dinner at Pine Ridge where I had the best fish fry ever.
We have been delighted every time we escape to this cabin. My family and I have stayed here for weeks at a time in both the winter and summer months. The winters at this cabin are cozy and warm and we have cooked up many memorable family meals in the large kitchen. During our summer stays, we spend a lot of time on the lake, floating on rafts off the dock and sipping cool drinks on the lakeside screen porch. We are always impressed by how Grant and Brenda have stocked this beautiful, clean home with everything we would ever need or want during our stay. If you are looking for a special getaway with your family and/or your friends, look no further. This is the one.
This was the perfect place to spend a long Birkie weekend!
We were two families, 4 adults and 5 kids, staying February of 2015. This wonderful home is extremely comfortable, warm and cozy! The adults appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, plush sleeping quarters, and easy access to Hayward and ski trails. The kids loved the sleeping loft, surprising amount of diversions, and endless snowy fun outside.
The owners were very accommodating and easy to work with.
We'll be back!
We have been lucky enough to have been able to rent this cabin the past 6 years so I wanted to post again. The layout is perfect for a group. There's a loft for the kids to rest and play and the downstairs area is great for movie night. The screened in porch is a quiet space to relax in and the seclusion of the cabin makes you feel like you are getting away from it all. The lake, landscaping and surrounding woods are beautiful and peaceful. Grant and Brenda could not be more welcoming and have even been kind enough to share some baby items to make our stay more convenient with little ones. The house comes equipped with all the comforts of home--everything you need to cook and prep meals, a gas grill on a beautiful deck, wifi, Netflix, comfy beds and some water toys as well. The home is clean, nicely decorated and well kept. We have truly enjoyed every visit and would never consider staying any place else! I highly recommend it!
We have been to the cabin a couple of times. Each time we started planning our next trip on the drive home! The cabin is perfect for a large family, or several couples to enjoy each other's company. Plenty of private, comfortable sleeping arrangements, a great kitchen, and awsome decks to enjoy the view of the beautiful lake. Fishing is fun off the dock. Great fishing holes can be found by using a boat also!
There are lots of things to do in the area... wine and antique shops, golfing, etc.
We look forward to going back again in the summer of 2012!
