About this property

Blue Ridge Parkway Seclusion

Welcome to Rustic Ridge Retreat. A long time VRBO destination, this charming cozy cabin offers tremendous views of the Piedmont stretching across multiple counties of northern North Carolina, and the southwestern edge of Virginia. A very private and secluded setting with all the amenities of home. Enjoy the rocking chair front porch while enjoying the view or watching for wildlife including deer, red-tailed hawks, wild turkey, groundhogs, and, in the summer evenings, fireflies.

Location is key…. just off the Blue Ridge Parkway (approx 1.3 miles), you can explore historic buildings/sites, stop and take in breathtaking views, and experience the beautiful seasons the parkway has to offer. In addition to the parkway, the area offers something for everyone to enjoy…music festivals (Mt Airy, Galax, Floyd), wineries, photography opportunities, golf courses, antiques galore, hiking, biking, and so much more.

The cabin includes two large bedrooms - one downstairs (primary with king bed) and one upstairs (queen and twin). The loft includes additional sleeping accommodations (queen/ twin), if needed. A fully equipped kitchen, living room, and two and one-half bath complete the cabin. Outside you’ll find a bistro sitting area, back porch with grill, and a fire pit to enjoy on chilly nights.

The cabin now includes a new Generac for those wintry, stormy nights to ensure power stays on. Also, the new HVAC system was installed in 2023.

We welcome your four-legged family members (dogs only). All pets require a pet fee and the purchase of one of the insurance options or a damage deposit during booking. Insurance policies protect both the renter and the property owner for damages. Following check out, once the property has been cleaned for the next guest(s) and no damage is found, damage deposits are refunded to you in full. Insurance policies are non-refundable. Life happens, so these policies are just that…insurance for the unexpected and unintended.

Cancellations: Your reservation is fully refunded (minus the VRBO guest service fee) if you cancel at least 14 days prior to your arrival date, or 50% refundable if cancelled 7 days prior to your arrival date. No refunds are allowed for cancellations shorter than 7 days. Insurance policies purchased are fully refunded by the insurance company upon any cancellation of your reservation or following your stay with no damage. VRBO’s ‘Guest service fee’ is not refundable.

We look forward to having you as our guest!

Note: We are continuously making updates and will post new photos as each update is completed. The most recent update is a full house generator to ensure no loss of electricity during the cold season or other unexpected power outages in the area.

Lovely spring break
The house is immaculately clean and very well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, and some grilling too. Everything was just right for relaxing and enjoying nature.

Great Long Weekend Stay
The property is a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to Mt. Airy, NC. It was very well stocked with everything that we needed. Cindy checked with us to make sure that we arrived okay and everything was fine with the property when we arrived. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Great quiet house for rural mountain break
We really enjoyed our stay, which we used for a quiet weekend away to get writing work done in a relaxed environment. Beautiful views in the direction of Pilot Mountain from a quiet and very comfortable cabin. Everything we needed was there, and the host was very responsive when we needed to text about (very minor) issues that came up. We strongly recommend a visit.

Wonderful Stay!
We stayed at this cabin for a few days after Christmas and had a great stay! The cabin is clean, comfortable and extremely well stocked! The view from the front porch is incredible!! Especially at sunset! There are lots of comfortable sleeping areas available and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook each night! Cindy was very responsive and very accommodating! We loved that this cabin was pet friendly and we could bring our dogs with us! We would definitely book this cabin again for a restful get-away in the future! Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us, Cindy! Jennifer from Raleigh, NC

About the host

We visited Fancy Gap (Cana) on our 25th wedding anniversary and fell in love with the location. Five months later we became the owner of this cozy cabin and long time Vrbo destination. We love to travel, especially mountain settings, and you'll find some of our other favorite locations in photos on the walls of our cabin.

Why they chose this property

Our property won us over when we stepped out on the front patio. We fell in love with the view where we can sit for hours and watch the sunrises, sunsets, wildlife, and awesome storms and lightning shows.

What makes this property unique

You'll love the quiet secluded location knowing town is only minutes away. Plus, there are many restaurants, wineries, and golf courses nearby, in addition to the famous Mayberry artifacts located in Mt. Airy 20 minutes from the cabin. As a convenience, you'll find a listing of restaurants on our information wall...including gluten free options.
