Overview

About the property

Four bedrooms; 3 shower rooms including 1 en-suite (sleeps 8 max)

‘Lagniappe’, meaning pleasant, unexpected gift, is a restored 19th century stone house in the traditional, tranquil and charming residential hamlet of Perrotet, near Roussillon, famous for its ocre colors. Both the four-bedroom house and its garden enjoy full privacy, and the two very spacious terraces, which overlook the completely private pool, have peaceful views over the surrounding farmlands and lavender fields of the Luberon, yet nearest bustling market town (Apt) is only 5 km away. The house is on two levels, with two large terraces overlooking the pool. There are four bedrooms in all, sleeping up to eight people (see “Amenities” tab for details). The Master bedroom is on the ground floor with en-suite shower room & separate WC. The upstairs level has three bedrooms, two shower rooms, each with a WC. The master bed has a vast terrace with a magnificent view, a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee and croissant or an evening glass of wine. The ground floor includes a cheerful, bright, open plan kitchen, renovated in provençal style. The adjoining spacious living area provides comfortable seating and appropriate equipment for watching TV and DVD’s, listening to music, connecting to the internet with wifi, or curling up in a cozy armchair in front of the large provençal-style fireplace. This living area enjoys direct access to another large terrace overlooking garden, pool, trees, mountains and orchards and which is furnished for outdoor dining and relaxation. The garden in front of the house is secluded, with a private, 8m x 4m pool. The basement and laundry room also have direct access to the garden.

‘Lagniappe’ is a perfect spot for enjoying the charms of Provence: its warm climate, clear light, and Mediterranean food & wine which taste of sunshine. While walking from the house to the ochre cliffs of Roussillon, one will enjoy the fragrances of wild rosemary, lavender and thyme. The property is set in the picturesque countryside of the Vaucluse, ideal for hiking and cycling. This is a wonderful area to explore many beautiful perched villages, such as Bonnieux, Ménerbes, Gordes and, of course, Roussillon, each with its own market day. The hamlet of Perrotet is also a perfectly situated for short drives to take in the historical walled city of Avignon, the iconic Cours Mirabeau of Aix-en-Provence, the famous antiques market in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and the Cistercian abbey of Sénanque. The spectacular Gorges du Verdon, Mont Ventoux and the Roman towns of Arles, Nîmes, Orange, Vaison-la-Romaine are all within an hour or two's drive, while Marseille, the Camargue, with its wonderful wild life, flamingos, bulls, and wild horses, and the Mediterranean coast are within easy reach. The area offers many opportunities for sports and leisure activities, including tennis courts in Gargas and two golf courses (Golf et Country Club in Pierrevert and Provence Country Club in Saumane). Finally, many excellent restaurants offering the special cuisine of rural Provence abound in the nearby vicinity.

BEAUTIFUL home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Lagniappe was the perfect place for a relaxing family week away in the south of France. Having never been to the region before, we absolutely loved it and would definitely like to return. The house is very spacious and comfortable for eight people, pool is fantastic (and necessary for the hot summers), facilities are plenty and adequate to cook meals yourselves. There is a lot to see in the towns surrounding the hamlet, most of which are too far to walk so a car is vital, but it is the perfect mix of having some relaxing days at the house and others visiting neighbouring sights. Tracy, Philippe and Joan are all excellent with communication, any queries we had were answered promptly. Thank you all so much!

Brilliant house in perfect tiny Luberon village.

  • 5 of 5

Lagniappe is a gorgeous home set in the tiny village of Perrotet by Gargas. The privacy and seclusion make it an ideal getaway but it is still an easy drive to many of the Provence towns and hamlets. The garden is perfect for lazing by the pool, there are two decks to enjoy views and plain air dining and each bedroom is charming. We stayed with our 20+ aged kids and had a fantastic week of home away from home living in idyllic surrounds. Tracy the owner couldn't have been more helpful and has created a holiday house that has pretty much everything you would need! We can't wait to plan our next trip there!
