About Don Flake
William Jordan Flake and James Clark Owens, my great grandfathers purchased the ranch that became the town of Show Low, Arizona. William J. Flake was the pioneer founder of Snowflake. We have 12 children and an ever growing number of grand children who love to come to the cabin as often as they can. We know you will love the property as much as we do.
Don Flake purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Don Flake chose Lakeside
The property is right next to beautiful open forests yet it is within two miles of the center of Lakeside and three miles of the center of Pinetop. Perfect for big groups. Mothers with sleeping babies can be in one end of the cabin while big, happy, boisterous groups can be in the other end. Mountain lakes, great hiking trails, sledding, skiing, fishing, etc. are all within minutes but with almost 4 acres you don't need to leave the property to have a fabulous time.
What makes this Cabin unique
For larger groups or special events we offer discounts for renting both our Woodland Lake Cabin and our home on Bald Eagle Point on Rainbow Lake two miles away. Ask us for details. With stables, a coral and an arena on the property, you are welcome to bring your own horses. If you prefer white mountain stables is near by and they provide great horseback riding adventures.

We have a large family with some small kids and this cabin was perfect for us. Lot of room and plenty of things for the kids to do.
Absolutely stunning and perfect
The house was immacutaley clean and beautiful. It was so spacious and has everything you need. Barry the house manager was more than accommodating. He checked in with us before and after and just made sure we had everything we needed. I can’t thank him more. I will definitely recommend this place and stay here again.
THE BEST OF THE BEST
I am the Manager with Kinetico Water Treatment in Chandler AZ. Every year for the past 4 years we have been coming to this Cabin. Each and every year it only gets better. I bring my All my Water Specialist up to get away from the hustle and bustle and the HEAT of the valley for a weekend of Fantasic R & R. When you arrive you will be greeted by the nicest man, Barry. He has a Heart of Gold and will do anything and everything to make your stay an unforgettable one. Right from the time you make the reservation until the time you leave, your stay will be an amazing one. I must mention where the Cabin is located your party can venture out in all directions to downtown Showlow, you can take in all the different restaurants locally, take a trip to Sunrise and ride the ski lift up to paradise, if your feeling lucky hit the Casino less than 7 miles away. For those who just want to get in that special R & R you can get that at this Cabin. Don’t miss out, book you unforgettable times today. By the way I just booked my next years getaway for my Team of Champions. I give this place 5 + Gold Stars.
Great cabin for large groups
Huge, plenty of room for everyone to spread out.
Very nice, large house with lots of room...
We had our kids wedding just down the street and this was a wonderful house to have our friends and family stay. Most of the rooms had their own bathroom and exits to decks and are tastefully decorated. The kitchen, dining and main room were very comfortable and most all comments from our group were very positive. Overall this is a great place to stay in the pines and we would recommend it for future stays.
The bathrooms could use small bar soaps like most motels, all we had was soft soap, which isn't bad, but bar soap works in the showers best. It would also be nice to have at least 2 towels in each bathroom, but we did just fine getting our own. Still, this is a Great house in a wonderful location and we loved our visit... terry and judy...
Large and spacious cabin was perfect for our group!
The cabin was clean with plenty of space for everyone. We loved all the bathrooms. It was a little warm in the cabin because of no AC but we brought lots of box fans and it cooled off easily in the evening. The kids loved exploring the property and playing tether ball. We made good use of the large deck for most of our meals. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans but was lacking in bowls and other kitchen staples such as ziploc bags, seran wrap and plastic storage containers. We had a great time at the cabin and would definitely go there again.
