Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time at your home, and everything went smoothly. The house was so comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the sunsets from the terrace with wine and cheese. Thomas was an excellent manager , was very responsive to all our questions, and helped set up "adventures" for us. We fell in love with Costa Rica . Thank you!

Beautiful Home in Prime Location

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home in Manual Antonio! It is located at the beginning of the "action" off the main road with restaurants in Manual Antonio. Very comfortable and the views are spectacular. In the afternoon capuchin monkeys would visit the patios and my kids were ecstatic! Beds were comfy and the home is air conditioned which is so nice. The pool was chilly so we could only dip our legs in (my 11-year old would swim). Angie, the concierge was very responsive and helpful. Our favorite restaurants were Cuba Libre (brand new) and Sancho's had the best prices and tacos and was a very short walk away. You can catch the bus, which is under $1/pp and easy to ride for the farther places like El Wagon (good pizza) and El Avion (cool plane restaurant). Donna is the lovely owner and very helpful as well. Highly recommend this property to anyone coming to Manual Antonio!

Embrace La Pura Vida!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and we didn't know what to expect. Luckily, the concierges at Casa Sandra, Thomas and Angie, were fantastic! Before we left the US, Thomas arranged our transportation by private van (we were a group of 5) from the airport in San Jose to Casa Sandra. I would recommend this, as Nature Air, the Costa Rican airline that runs the small planes, has had two terrible crashes recently. We did not rent a car at all and did not miss it. The roads in Costa Rica are well maintained but very mountainous and twisty, and there are very few road signs and parking is limited. Casa Sandra doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but once you are inside, it is beautiful! We enjoyed sitting on the terraces watching the sunsets and the birds. The kitchen is well equipped (except no toaster) and there was a delicious fruit basket waiting for us. The beds are comfy and the AC worked great. You can drink the water in Costa Rica. We all drank it all week long and no problems whatsoever. The best part of the house is that it comes with Angie! She met us when we arrived, showed us around, and then offered to set up anything we needed, from taxis to tours. I had an ear infection and she even drove me into Quepos and spoke to the pharmacist for me.

You can walk to quite a few things from the house. There is a small market at the end of the street and a bigger one two blocks down the main road. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. Bring a flashlight because the sidewalk starts and stops, so if you are walking home after dinner, it's good to have a light so that drivers can see you. The area seemed very safe and everyone is super friendly.

The public bus is excellent. It costs less than a US dollar (and you can pay in US dollars or colones). The bus stop is right at the end of the street. it comes every 15 minutes; it's clean; it's air-conditioned. You can take it all the way to the beach or just down to some of the bigger restaurants. La Barba Roja and Rafael's are great for happy hour and watching the sunsets and the food is good too.We were with our adult children, so it was handy to not have to all go and come together.

We did the Manuel Antonio guided tour and the white water rafting (which also includes a great ride through the jungles). Angie set these up and the tour guides came right to the house and picked us up and returned us when it was over. We had a great trip. Pura Vida!

Wonderful property - Just like its pictured

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the listing description is accurate and it may in fact be underselling just how wonderful, beautiful, convenient this home is. Casa Sandra is spacious, beautifully furnished and just a joy to spend any amount of time in if you are heading to Manuel Antonio (we were there for 7 days). The two bedrooms are large and private, the bathrooms have all the features you need, the living room and dining room on the first floor are spacious, comfortable and just great places to be if you are in the house. There is a full service kitchen also on the main floor with all the utensils, plates, etc, you need. A nice sized grill on the terrace as well. Each floor has a great terrace overlooking gardens or all the way to the ocean for beautiful views of the sunset. the top terrace has a large and very refreshing plunge pool - perfect after a day at the beach or an activity.

From our first interaction with the owners through the end of the trip you can tell they care about your enjoyment at their house. They were willing to answer any question (and we asked a lot) and had some great recommendations. Thomas (property manager) helped with recommendations before our trip (including arranging for a great driver from San Jose to Casa Sandra (Gerardo). He was away when we were at the house but Angie was more than capable of helping - she filled the fridge pre-visit with items we asked for, helped to arrange some additional tours and was always responsive to text's when we had questions including getting us a taxi for our trip back from Playa Biesanz (it's not as close to the house as we thought and its uphill on the way home, a big uphill - but well worth day trip). Angie has a great smile and we were sad to say goodbye to her when we left the house. Casa Sandra is within walking distance to a big supermarket and local restaurants. The bus stop is one block away and we never waited more than 5 minutes. The beaches are beyond beautiful and have no developments on them. Ask for a tour of the National Park with Henry he has such a love of the animal and plant life and we also took a great kayak tour of the river with him. Get to Rainmaker and swim in a waterfall. Thomas/Angie are great at arranging for your tastes.

Beautiful Home in a Perfect Setting

  • 5 of 5

Casa Sandra is wonderful from top to bottom. Beginning with the booking process and any questions I had on the house the owners were quick to respond and 100% accurate as confirmed when I got to the house. No question was too small to ask and my questions even after I booked the house whether on the house logistics or the town of Manuel Antonio or on specific tours were always answered with a smile (you could feel it in the response).

Beyond interacting with the owners, you are introduced to a number of contacts that help you pre and during your trip. Thomas was away while we were visiting but he happily answered our questions before we arrived and helped to arrange for car service from San Jose and for a number of tours. From there Angie took over and she treated us as members of her family. Again, no request was too much as she helped to stock the fridge with our chosen items for our arrival, helped confirm and arrange for additional tours and was available at all times when we needed any assistance including helping to have a taxi arrange to pick us up after a day at Playa Biesanz (thanks Angie, we never could have walked back up that hill!). She has a great smile and very warm presence. Special mention to Rambo for two of the best meals we've had and for his warmth and for Henry for two sensational tours and his friendship. Each of them helped to make our vacation a wonderful experience.

Casa Sandra is exactly as described and pictured in this listing. It is beautifully furnished and comfortable from the bottom floor to the top. A full kitchen, expansive living room (we never turned the TV on but I'm sure it works great), wonderful eating spaces, comfortable bedrooms with a great view from the master bedroom, and two full bathrooms (and a half bath on main floor). Each floor has a wonderful terrace with surrounding beautiful gardens and the top floor plunge pool is large and refreshing after a hot day at the beach.

Casa Sandra is close to shops (we walked to many restaurants at night and sometimes for breakfast) and for further excursions (the main beach and National Park are too far to walk), the public bus is a block away and very easy to use. You don't need a car in Manuel Antonio.

From the owners to the people they have chosen to work with in management of the property to the physical layout, decoration, comfort and location of the house, there is no better home to make your visit to Manuel Antonio more enjoyable.

Luxury Vacation Home with Breathtaking Views

  • 5 of 5

I am incredibly delayed in writing my review. My husband, three girls (19, 13, 8) and I traveled throughout Costa Rica last summer. We enjoyed every aspect of our month long vacation but this private home and all it offered was definitely a highlight of our trip. After traveling all day from Tamarindo, we arrived very late in the evening and Angie was there to greet us. And what a greeting! The place was incredible! Casa Sandra is a beautiful immaculate home which was furnished with everything we needed and more. We arrived to a wonderful fresh fruit basket at the large dining room table. It looked like we stepped into a magazine. The living area was extremely comfortable and the place our family would enjoy many games and relaxation. The main level and the master suite both had breathtaking views. We enjoyed watching many sunsets from the balcony. My children could hardly wait to wake up to the monkeys entertaining us each morning. We had a rental car but I don't think we needed it as it was close to grocery stores, restaurants and transportation. I highly recommend having Angie arrange excursions. Our favorites were the ATV tour and the snorkeling trip. We felt very well taken care of from the moment we made our reservation to the end of our stay. I must say, I am always a bit nervous to book a place online. You never know what you will actually get. We were so pleased to arrive and find the place was just as magnificent as pictured. The owners are excellent to work with and helped us so much prepare for our visit to Manuel Antonio. We cannot express how thankful we are for such great memories!

Beautiful house with great views. Central but quiet location. And Monkeys too!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent house to stay in if you're visiting the Manuel Antonio Park and the surrounding areas. Great, convenient bus service to the beaches. No rental car required.

Angie and Thomas did an excellent job of looking after us by securing transportation and booking hikes and excursions. As they say, "Pura Vida!"
