About Barbara Hyman
We are beach-bound Dallasites who love the water. A Mississippi native, Barbara took family vacations to the beautiful beaches of the Florida Panhandle. Robert is a lifelong animal lover who has grown to appreciate the incredible bird life on the Upper Texas Coast.
Barbara Hyman purchased this Condo in 2009
Why Barbara Hyman chose Galveston
We had a small beachfront house on the Bolivar Peninsula that we lost to Hurricane Ike. In some ways, the condo reminds us of the house. The condo complex is located on a quiet part of the beach, like our house was. And the views from our sixth-floor corner spot are also pretty darn nice. What's different? Now we have a dishwasher and a real bedroom!
What makes this Condo unique
Robert loves taking dips in the pool before bedtime. Barbara walks the beach, looking for beach glass. Both enjoy relaxing on one of the balconies, wine in hand, soaking up the view in the Gulf breeze. Moonlight over the water is spectacular.

Great weekend at Lonestar Rally!
Very nice place, would stay again..
Great weekend with family. Very nice condo with everything we needed. Beautiful views from every side of condo. Sunrise in the morning, sunset in the evening. Tons of positives, only a few negatives. Dishes were still in washer. Both rooms had a lot of water on floor from rain a few days before. Overall very happy with visit. Also, the bridge and trail down to beach were partially covered with water. Need to get a bridge over the marsh area. Would recommend this condo, but probably would not book again. I would like an easier beach access.
Hard, blowing rain did force water into the condo, and that problem is being repaired. The condo assn. is also making the walkway to the beach passable after heavy rains. We like easy beach access, too!
Islander East, wonderful retreat
Every aspect of the rental went seamlessly, and Barbara made sure we had everything we needed. The condo was perfect size with 2 bedrooms and the location was even better than expected! We had the East Beach area to ourselves and enjoyed glorious sunsets and sunrises from the balconies. There was a manager on duty at all times and the gated entrance added to our security. We will definitely be planning a return visit!
We had a wonderful time! The condo is perfectly arranged for two couples. There is a water view from every room! Just a few steps along the walkway and you are on the sand. We were there over Labor Day and never had to worry about parking or finding a spot on the beach. The owner is very easy to communicate with. We highly recommend this property. You will not be disappointed!
East Beach Quiet Paradise
I'm not a huge fan of Galveston, but it has its charm, fun spots, and great food choices if you look past the chains.
The water was perfect for late August, and East Beach is nice and quiet. There was sand sculpture contest on Saturday, and we were able to go check it out just up the street at Apfel Park.
So, let's talk about the unit. Two of the rooms face the gulf, the other faces Galveston proper. From the sixth floor, we were able to enjoy the sunrise, and had direct private access to the public beach. No crossing of Seawall Blvd, just right out to sand and water. If I could, I would live here just for the quiet and direct access to the downtown food choices.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything needed to cook some breakfast and small dinners.
The complex was really safe with access gates and 24 hour security. There is a nicely maintained pool, and things like shuffleboard and cornhole available to keep kids entertained.
Galveston can be really pricey, so this unit was the right price and location for our plans in the medical center.
Thank you, Hyman folks, for sharing the space. Well done.
Area is world-renowned for bird watching, particularly the Bolivar Peninsula, a short ferry ride across Galveston Bay.
