From the moment your arrive to a roaring fire in your fire pit, the fresh fruits and vegetables left for you by Ed, your stress starts to melt away. Then you look around an realize you are at Heaven on Earth. From the amazing hot tub overlooking the river to the hand built cabins and breathtaking views of the river and nature all around you. Ed has taken it upon himself to make your stay as special as any 5 star resort. He includes bikes for a nice ride around the property or the nearby bikeway. You have your choice of hammocks all over the property including the beach area or a cabana that you can close off to the world. You can use one of the provided canoes to paddle around the island or down the river .
If you like to fish you can take your pick of places to cast your line. The decks on all the cabins give you an amazing view of the river and sunset while you sip on a cold beverage. Oh I almost forgot the treasure chest that has all the fixings for a nice night by the campfire making smores. The bed is so comfortable you will not want to get out of it and all of the furnishing make you feel like you are home. We didn't bring our children but if you do there are plenty of things for them to do. There is playsets, a pond for them to catch (and release) or feed bluegill all day long. Horseshoes, cornhole and a gas or charcoal grill with every thing provided for you to use them. Waking up to goodies left for you each morning or a pitcher of Organic Iced tea made with fresh honey from the property after a day of exploring is just one of the things Ed does to make sure you taken care of like family. You arrive strangers but leave with a new friend, Ed. I could go on and on with other wonderful things to say about our stay but all you really need to know is this is now our one and only choice for a getaway. You will not be disappointed. You will leave relaxed, refreshed and wanting to come back..
We had an amazing time. Booked the Shitake cabin for our 30th anniversary getaway and Ed was so amazing. Had champagne chilling, a fire outside, and home made goodies waiting for us when we arrived. The place was beautiful and well maintained. Can't wait to take the grandsons back for a family fun weekend!
My husband booked the portabella cabin for my birthday and our anniversary weekend. Ed the owner had a fire going for us, had bake me a birthday cake, left us fresh fruit and vegetables and also baked us fresh loaves of bread. There was so much to do! From the chipping Booth where you can hit a few golf balls, the hot tub, the bags, the horse shoes, the fishing, the canoe rentals, the bike rentals, archery, volleyball or just walking around and laying in a hammock. Monticello is only about 15 minutes away and has some great restaurants and some cute little shops. We had the most amazing weekend and we already booked another weekend in July so that we can bring the kids. I would recommend this to every single person I know and I plan on doing just that.
Amazing wildlife, beautiful cabins! The owner of the property has thought of everything you could need or want, to make your stay wonderful. There is so much to do the weekend we spent just wasn't long enough. We will definitely be back and will also recommend to friends..
We have been to many, many cabins and this was really a great place. Host Ed is one of the best Damn hosts we have ever had! We will revisit this cabin over and over. Very well maintained but Ed is the Host of the year!!
