Bedrooms 2
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Right on the beach, this modern 2-bedroom condo apt. has superb views of ocean sunsets, seals, eagles, pelicans, crab boats, and so much more. Quiet seaside village only 90 min. from Portland. Spectacular hiking trails at nearby Cape Lookout State Park, plus biking, kayaking, and old-growth forests are at your fingertips. Walk to restaurants and store. You'll love relaxing in the living room window seat while enjoying the the incomparable scenery.

As soon as you make the turn onto Pearl Street, you'll be charmed by the spectacular sight below—Netarts Spit with its gleaming sands reaching into the Pacific and sheltering the entrance to our beautiful bay. Beyond rise the huge offshore stacks known as the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. Down the private driveway lies our small building with several apartments right on the beach. Within minutes you may spy seals poking their heads from the water just yards from our shore. Watch for great blue herons and bald eagles. Depending on season, there will be flocks of giant pelicans or beautiful waterfowl congregating on the sand, soaring above the bay, diving for food. You'll see all this from the comfort of a window seat in our oceanfront picture window, or enjoying a walk up and down the beach.

A 30-min. hike beside the crashing Pacific surf brings you to picturesque Oceanside, a good spot for lunch, dinner, espresso, or just watching hang-gliders launch from the peak and soar over the cliffside homes before landing on the broad beach. You can also take a short walk from our home to restaurants and a good general store right in Netarts. And it's only several minutes by car to Cape Lookout and Cape Meares State Parks, where trails wind through rare old-growth coastal rain forests high above the waves crashing against rocks and cliffs.

You'll return to the modern comforts of our home. It's small (about 839 sq. ft.), but it has everything you need for a short or long stay. All you need to bring is clothing. We even have a collection of books and games. There's DVD and cable, and rentals are available in Netarts and Tillamook. Washer and dryer are in our garage. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed (with ocean view), and the second bedroom has two twins. There's also a sofa sleeper in the living room; with only one bathroom, however, we don't recommend our place for parties larger than 4 for any length of time. It's a small quiet condo, and sometimes you won't see anyone else there.

Netarts is a place to enjoy Nature outdoors or from our picture windows. There are not a lot of other amusements or great shopping opportunities. (A short day-trip to Cannon Beach or Lincoln City can satisfy those urges.) Tillamook Co. does offer some hidden treasures inland from the beach, and we're happy to share these ideas with guests who reserve our place.

About The Owner

We have lived in Oregon since 1981, and we love to explore the varied outdoor environments the Northwest offers us. We enjoyed many a short trip to the beach or camping in the mountains with our children, and now we're beginning to do the same with our first grandchild. She especially loves going to the ocean and staying at our condo, as do we.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1998

Why The Owner chose Coastal Oregon

We've always loved getting away to the Oregon Coast, near home and yet one of the most spectacular places we've ever visited. So we finally (in 1998) decided to have our own little place there. We searched for property at locations where a bay meets the ocean, so that we could enjoy kayaking in the calmer waters of the bay as well as experiencing the crashing surf directly on the Pacific. We also appreciate how much wildlife congregates at this type of location. Pearl Point at Netarts has been the perfect location. We love sharing it with family, friends, and guests.

What makes this condo unique

We enjoy falling asleep (day or night) to the sound of the surf, identifying sea birds with binoculars and an i.d. chart, dinner at Roseanna's in Oceanside or picnics with fresh crab on the condo deck, watching sunsets behind the Three Arch Rocks, spreading a blanket and leaning against a huge driftwood log or the cliffs just beyond Happy Camp, exploring the many little treasures of the beach with our new granddaughter, and watching the ever-changing winter skies with their rainbows, showers, sun, and squalls from the warm comfort of the living room.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Is there any better way to spend a day than sitting in the

windowseat and just watching this spectacular, everchanging

scenery?....Reading the guests' entries it is clear that

everyone who stays here appreciates the release this place

Netarts Oceanfront Condo..almost.

  • 3 of 5

The Condo itself was pretty good, not outstanding but good. The kitchen was very nicely stocked and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was so-so and the filthy hand towels should have been thrown away, yuch. The location was in my opinion, misrepresented. It is not "out the door and on the beach" more like "out the door, through the parking lot, and on the beach". I asked the owner specifically if the picture from down the beach at "a" Condo was accurate. He assured me it was...not! from the water (or from the parking lot) it looks like a cheap Motel. Also be aware he charges EXTRA if you want to use a charge card! This is not stated in the description and should be. With this said, we had a good time and as long as you know upfront what you are getting, have fun. (We've been using VRBO for around 10 years and this is one of the few disappointments we've had.)

Owner's Response: We appreciate vrbo's policy of encouraging owners to address future guests. We have rented for 15 years, and we want our guests to expect the same positive experience that so many others have had. 1) We show photos from inside and out, as well as give specific description on the phone, to indicate how our place is located on the beach, unlike most of the homes in the area. No street to cross, no long stairway down the bluff, but you simply cross a small parking area (2 cars' width) to our own 5-6 steps onto the beach. It may take me 20-30 seconds of walking. If you expect to open the door and step onto sand, you might be disappointed. We often furnish more photos to show how little separates us from the beach. 2) This renter complains that the photo from the beach is not accurate. I stated on the phone that the top of our building is visible at the left of that photo and that both units are of the same construction. We wanted a photo showing both the sand and the condo for those who worry it's not close enough. Our windows look directly onto the water and the view of sand is blocked by shrubs; the same is true in reverse, looking from the beach upwards. So we aimed at the apt one can see from the sand, which is 10 yards or so from our own section. 3) Our place is clean and modern indoors, and its rustic weathered cedar exterior is typical of the Northwest coast. He considers this like a "cheap motel,"--which we've never heard before--but one is entitled to his opinion. There are no signs or other things you'd find at a motel, but if you are looking for a colorful painted exterior instead of gray cedar in good repair, then be forewarned! 4) Our cleaning person has been with us for years and never caused a complaint that she left a dirty towel. She does laundry after each guest and puts up fresh clean towels. If somehow she forgot anything this time and the place did not seem ready, we wish the person had called us. (We'd immediately tell them where to find clean ones, and of course apologize.) Our phone number is posted, and guests are urged to call if there is anything amiss. This one preferred to notify us of a problem via a vrbo review! 5) Requesting checks has helped keep our rental fees lower. We were under the impression that vrbo stated that paying by card with vrbo may include a small fee; we see now that it does not, and we shall no longer request anything from those who have to use a card instead of a check.

Great Spot

We really enjoyed the condo and it worked great for my wife and I and two young kids. It was affordable and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare our own meals and keep the eating out expense down. My kids spent hours playing in the window seat when we weren't at the beach. The beach in front of the condo was great for kids too since when the tide was out the bay was calm and you didn't have to worry about sneaker waves and such. Town and the market were a short walk and Oceanside was about a thirty-five minute walk. The owners were good to work with and worked with us on short notice booking. We would stay here again.
