We live in the Keys and wanted to spend our summers in the mountains, and our winters in the Keys. The economic downfall of the last 2 years has not allowed us to spend the time here that we planned on. So we want to share our family mountain resort with others, since we cannot afford a six month escape at this time.
We have spent the last 3 years developing this special property and we think that everyone that stays here will have a special trip back in time, staying in a rustic log cabin enviroment in the mountains.

We are 2 minutes from town, but once you go up our 1/4 mile long drive way you feel far away from it all.
The sound of water falls 24 hrs. The hiking trails on our 10 acre property. Going from the Hot tub to the cold water fall pool, its like a sweedish bath. NO NEIGHBORS---PRIVACY

Christmas at Wells Stone

We wanted a special place to spend a family Christmas and Wells Stone did not disappoint! Unprecedented amounts of snow kept us in for a few days but we had plenty to keep us entertained between the hot tub pool table sat TV etc. The kids had a blast in the snow; being from Florida it was a special treat. We spent a day at Tube World and went into Waynesville a quaint little town not far from the property, for an afternoon of shopping. The cabin is authentic and rustic but still comfortable warm and very well maintained. Loved the kitchen! The views from all sides are breathtaking and the snowy mountains added to the beauty We definately had the experience we were promised and can't wait to get back!

Owner's Response Thank you Mary Ann ! We are glad you and your family had a good time. We have tried to create an experience, not just a stay for all our guests.

This house has so much to offer. It is like no other chalet or cabin I've ever stayed . This is a home! So much room to relax an enjoy the beautiful mountain. The gravel drive up to the house was a little scary (Motorcycles) at first but after a few times up and down it was no problem and well worth it! The owners are great people and will help with whatever you need.
This was our second stay at Wellstone my wife and I, my sister / her family, and our parents. This is a very unique property. The exterior accent lighting and rustic feel are just a couple of things that make this place special. Although you are near the "main stretch" of Maggie, it feels secluded perched at the top of the hill. I'm looking forward to many more trips to Wellstone with my family.
Wells Stone is a "one of a kind mountain home" located in driving distance of Mt. Mitchell, Asheville and The Biltmore Estate, Mt. Pisgah, Cherokee, Newfound Gap, and many wonderful picnic grounds. We planned daily day trips ending with a glass of wine relaxing in the hot tub listening to the soothing sounds of the water fall. Life was grand!!
We were very impressed that the owner called several times making sure all was OK. We enjoyed the history of the house and all the interesting, outstanding decorations. The house was the perfect base for our vacation.
Our family had an amazing time at the cabin. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed every minute of our trip and time we spent here. We will definitely be going back.
Many times it is the little things that make all the difference and this place has so many of those: enough plates, silverware, towels, and linens to actually accommodate the number of people for which the location is rated. Very clean and the property managers showed us around upon arrival and showed us how to work everything. Owners that called to see how things were going and were super responsive right from the beginning.
Now for the big things: a huge living room, kitchen and dining room in which the family could enjoy together; a peaceful private setting; huge bedrooms and comfortable bathrooms; the bar/game room such a welcome addition; and so very close to town. But by far the best - this place has so many windows/decks from which to enjoy the beautiful views. My husband and I enjoyed the place by ourselves for a few days and then when the remaining family members got here, we didn't feel anymore closed in than just the two of us. This place is just simply amazing!
