Amadora (Gift of Love) on 1/2 Acre, Private Spacious Outdoors, Near Sonoma Plaza

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 2,200 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This warm and charming house, a true Sonoma craftman's style built in 1891, sits on almost half an acre of land, totally enclosed to give you privacy and let you forget about the world. A nearby walking trail leads to Sonoma Plaza.

The main bedroom features a plush California king sized bed. The second and third bedrooms each have a pillow-top queen bed. Views of the Sonoma hillside are available from all bedrooms.

Relax and unwind in the lounge chairs just outside the covered back porch. To the right is a hot tub for four with an outdoor shower station, and to the left is an eating area for six with a three burner BBQ. Take a siesta after a nice meal, lie down and swing gently on the hammock for two.

The garden offers delights seasonally through year with 30 fruit trees and shrubs (peach, apple, pear, tangerine, pommelo, orange, grapefruit). Among the grove of the trees, settle back in a rocking chair, or relax on the comfortable sectional sofa under a gazebo.

Game Room: A recreation room has been added recently, with an 8' pool table, a 55' TV connected to HD cable box and Blue Ray DVD player, and a lounge/ bar area.

Wireless Connectivity: There is wireless connectivity throughout the property, so you can go to the internet with your laptop from the gazebo, the cabana, the porches, the game room or the al fresco dining area.

Orchard in A Garden Setting: There are different fruit and berries for different seasons. In spring time, there are 2 different kinds of cherries and strawberries. In summer there is an abundance of plums, followed by apricots, then yellow and white nectarines, ending with peaches. Blackberries, gold and red raspberries, along with 7 different kinds of table grapes are common in late summer. A couple varieties of apples, pears, and figs herald the arrival of fall, with chocolate and coffee cake persimmons and pomegranates ending the season. Winter is celebrated with Cara Cara oranges, limes, pommelo, grapefruit, tangerines and citron. When the all the citrus trees bloom in late winter, the whole property is perfumed with the most refreshing, soft and sweet smell. A new 3-1 pluot tree has just been planted in 2009, along with a sweet kiwi vine. Please note that due to different weather conditions, fruit yield and harvest time may vary from year to year.

The Best Vacation Home Ever!

  • 5 of 5

We spent an amazing week at Amadora with our adult children; it was truly the most welcoming and well-appointed home we have ever rented. The house is beautifully furnished with plenty of space for relaxing or entertaining. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, and a very nice gas grill and outdoor dining area makes evening meals 'al fresco' a special treat. The game room in a separate building on the property has a pool table, two sofas, and a wide-screen TV. We were lucky enough to have some friends visit us while we were at Amadora, and entertaining them was as easy and as comfortable as if we were in our own home. Joe (the owner) provided us with a literal book full of information on extra amenities, restaurants, wineries, and activities, and he even has arranged some special discounts at some activities for guests of Amadora. But by far the best feature of this wonderful home is its gardens - the entire property is covered with fruit trees, herbs, and flowers of every variety. We feasted all week on fresh figs, peaches, raspberries, and tomatoes from the garden. What a wonderful bonus! We will certainly return to Amadora next year.

Comfortable and convenient

  • 5 of 5

The house was very comfortable with everything one could want when traveling with family. It is well stocked and convenient to town and all the wineries. The grounds are beautiful and the hot tub worked well. Joe sent great information for our trip and responded quickly when we had a sink that clogged. Unfortunately due to rainy weather, we didn't really get to enjoy the yard, but it is very special with lots of fruit trees and herbs. The only negative, more because of the rain than anything else, is that the second full bath is in the other structure on the property. We would not hesitate to stay there again and hope to be back sometime soon.

Great house and large space

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice home that worked out as a central location for all of the wine regions. There was ample cooking utensils that we enjoyed for a few meals. The new fridge was perfect and quite large. Since we had a mix of rain and sun, we appreciated the hot tub and used it every night. The weather and time did not permit a walk to the square, but the drive was about 3 minutes. The yard was just coming to life from the winter, and there were still oranges and lemons to harvest. When we return to this area we will definitely rent this home again.

Perfect for a family - highly recommend

  • 5 of 5

We (me, my husband and our 3 grown "kids" in their late 20's) and I went on a family vacation to celebrate my husband's birthday. Joe was so very warm and helpful ahead of time; answering all my questions about the area and emailing me so much information that only a local would know. He even emailed some ways to do Sonoma on a budget. The location was perfect; everything you need for a great stay is there in this home - including Monopoly and Risk! The house has so much charm; the gardens really are special and added to cozy atmosphere; beds very comfy; too. We loved having morning coffee on the front porch - the house has lots of privacy from "the outside world" - yet was so close to anything we wanted to do. We felt right at home. Awesome problem resolution, too. The hot tub stopped working the first night we were there - but Joe responded immediately to my email about it and he had it fixed the very next morning.

We are also VRBO owners - so we know what guests expect and how owners and properties should be - and this was perfect! We didn't want to leave -- we will be back next time we go to Sonoma.

Not a single problem. Joe has this whole process down to a science. Excellent communication with you prior to your arrival. The place is perfect for a small group or family. Great location too. Couldn't have asked for a better trip.
