Enjoy paradise in this darling 'casita' situated on the grounds of one of the most admired private properties in downtown Boquete.
The cozy, comfy and convenient one-room guest cottage sits behind a charming wrought iron gate overlooking a beautiful bubbling stream.
The 'casita' is stocked with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster-oven, electric kettle and coffee maker - the basics for preparing breakfast or a light meal.
The casita is easily accessible- no stairs, walk in shower. It is not wheel chair accessible, however.
Walk to language school, restaurants & cafes, shopping, golf course, eco-touring, transportation! Or just hang out in the hammock, listening to the running stream.
The setting is perfect for a romantic weekend, a week of Spanish language immersion, or a longer visit to explore all of the region.
If you are considering a move to Panama, I would be happy to answer questions and give you some 'insider' tips.
I am an artist, working in multimedia- acrylics, oil, fiber, collage, polymer clay. I give classes from time to time in my home studio.
My late husband, Mort, founded Morton's Bakehouse, a well known artisan bakery in Alto Boquete. I am continuing his legacy, running the bakery. A delicious fresh bread awaits you!
Maggie, my sweet Labradoodle, and I look forward to welcoming you as our honored guests.
A brief listing of some local festivals and events:
November - a month of celebrations. Panamanian Independence Day Parades. Local celebrations in Boquete are colorful, fun, with parades of darling school children dressed in beautiful costumes.
December - Christmas and New Years celebrations, parades and displays
January - The International Boquete Flower and Coffee Fair. Music events at night are, regrettably, noisy throughout the entire valley - bring ear plugs! The flowers bloom all season! Generally held the third week in January.
February - World-Class Jazz & Blues on the slopes of Volcan Baru, in February. This is a great event - getting bigger and better each year.
March - Orchid Fair in Boquete - professional and amateur growers vie for gold medals. Generally held end of March, beginning of April at the Fair Grounds.

In town, central location but secluded, gated and private.
Rental car not needed- walk to fine restaurants, cafés, local eateries, market, tour operators, bike rentals, etc. But if you rent a car, we have private and secure parking for you.
Barbara is a gem. When you travel a lot like we do, you come to appreciate all of the small gestures that make a stay exceptionally memorable. When you stay at this sweet casita you get so much more than a comfortable place to sleep(the bed is very comfy!). Location, a host that provides tips and conversation that make you want to come back, and although small - a casita that provides so much. And we will be craving the cranberry walnut bread - toasted in the toaster oven and slathered with cream cheese and blackberry preserves from the Spanish shop. You will be so happy if you choose to stay here.
My husband and I traveled to Panama recently for our 10-year anniversary. Boquete, and this charming casita, was our first stop.
Location: The location of "the mermaid house" could not have been better. It was an easy walk anywhere we wanted to go, but the tranquil garden setting made it feel like we were well off the beaten path.
Room: This one room guesthouse was just ideal for us. Charming, tasteful, and filled with everything you could want in a room. Pre-loaded movies on the television for a night in, and simple kitchenware to use for our leftovers! The bathroom was spacious and perfect for us.
Atmosphere: We couldn't have felt more welcome by Barbara and Maggie. She welcomed us with open arms, treated us to some delicious pastries from her bakery, and even invited us for Yom Kippur dinner! Maggie was a welcome sidekick in the mornings, and we relished in the peace and quiet.
Thank you so much for the perfect start to our anniversary adventure!!!
We loved our stay in the little Casita nestled next to the river. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean and Barbara anticipated and provided extras we weren't expecting. It made for a memorable stay. The baked goods from Mort's Bakery were scrumptious! We highly recommend a stay at the Casita by the River. It is beautiful and right in town close to restaurants.
The cottage has everything you could possibly need including the dog ~Maggie" She will sit with you while you enjoy a cup of Panamian coffee on the porch by the river. Very relaxing and quiet. Wish we could have stayed longer, but will look forward to going back. I should add, Barbara owns a bakery and everything is delicious!!!! A great place to stay in Boquete.
Barbara, Melissa and Maggie are great! They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable during your stay. We are exploring Boquete as a future home and Barbara introduced us to expats in the community and told us the best places to go including restaurants, markets and sites. The casita was nice and cozy with all the basic needs provided. Mornings sitting outside by the river were great. Maggie the resident dog is great company and loves biscuits. Don't forget to get some great treats from Morton's bakery.
Everything about our stay in the casita was great. It is "cozy", but it has everything you need for a fantastic stay in Boquete. Though we had a car, we mostly walked everywhere in town from the casita, it is that conveniently located.
And Barbara. She is just a wonderful, generous, and graceful person. She never hesitated to answer my many questions. Made certain we had privacy, yet when she was home, her front door was always open and we chatted about life in Panama as she has been there a number of years.
We recommend this property to any person or couple visiting Boquete.
Private art classes on site, climb Volcan Baru, tour coffee estates, bird watching, hiking, yoga, fitness, rock climbing, horseback riding, beach and fishing
