|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
Enjoy the best views of Lake Michigan anywhere around: beautiful sunsets, an old sunken ship off shore, crashing waves, and thousands of migrating geese that go by every spring (and stop to rest on the beach). Just a a couple of minutes' walk down the private cottage path finds you at glorious Lake Michigan.
Located in the Congregational Summer Assembly and just 1/4 mile from Crystal Lake and 2 miles from Frankfort, it's ideally located.
The family cottage is warm and unique -- a great gathering place for family and friends. Built in 1916 and owned by only three families in a century, it is a spot that captures your heart. Every room enjoys a view, with many overlooking Lake Michigan. It is situated on a wooded ridge and includes a private path to the lake. The cottage is beautifully furnished and well-maintained: original pine floors and bead board walls, mid-century pine paneling, windows on all sides, and furniture that has stood the test of time.
From both the lawn and the large deck, you can take in a full view of the lake. Or detour to the 1950's single-room cabin overlooking the lake and spend a few hours reading or stargazing.
Modern stuff: TV, wireless Internet, unlimited U.S. calling on landline, DVD player, and iPOD player.
First floor: One bedroom, one full bath with antique claw foot tub, and a complete kitchen with all amenities. Comfortable living area with family-sized dining table. Large sun porch with additional dining space and expansive views of Lake Michigan.
Second floor: Four cozy and lovely bedrooms, three with lake views. Shared half-bath.
Outdoors: A shower (enclosed except to the sky) overlooking Lake Michigan. It is both private and fun!
Lawn: Chairs for everyone on the lawn. Watch sunsets from here or the deck.
Second retreat: 1950's cabin overlooking the lake. Attached large deck with tables and chairs.
This is a perfect summer retreat. Share a very special spot with family and friends!
Three generations of our family have enjoyed our cottage for over 50 years, and we have loved every summer we have lived there. It is a wonderful spot for families and anyone who wants quiet surroundings and natural beauty. The photo is of family and friends several years ago.
Deborah purchased this cottage in 1965
It's a 100-year-old cottage with separate cabin, renovated simply by two of the three families that have owned it in a century. Some of the original furnishings, such as brass beds, are still used. We love the privacy and beauty surrounding it, sleeping with the windows open to the sound of waves, and gathering on the deck for sunsets and meals. The walk down the path to the beach is under a tree canopy and opens to the wide expanse of Lake Michigan below. Swimming, petosky hunting, and lounging on a very secluded beach. Walk or drive less than 1/2 mile to enjoy Crystal Lake swimming, boating, and fishing.
Had a wonderful time with three generations of our family. As two generations enjoyed the Traverse City Cherry Festival, Blue Angel Air Show, Sailing, Fishing, biking walking the beach (several times), swimming, surfing and enjoying the Sleeping Bear Dunes. The other enjoyed the peacefulness, beautiful views (pictures do not do justice), family of deer (fawn, mother and yearling) that seemed to enjoy the gardens as much as we did. Thank you for a great stay.
The cottage is wonderful and the views are fantastic. Bathrooms are a little tight but outside shower is very cool. However, check out time is tight. On the last day, had housekeepers show up at 10 a.m. For this amount of money check out time should be no earlier than 12:00 noon and renters should not be bothered by someone pressuring them out of the cottage on their last day.
