Although we arrived past midnight, we were treated to a warm welcome from Kelly, the charming and helpful owner. We were meeting up with another couple to spend a week together in San Diego and this second-floor character suite in this historical house with all the necessary updates in the kitchen and bathrooms was the perfect space for us.
The two bedrooms were at opposite ends of the suite and each couple had a bathroom attached to their bedroom. The kitchen was large and well-equipped, with plenty of space for preparing our meals. The large living room was a great space for watching tv and the kitchen bar height counters just right for using our computers.
We also appreciated having liberal access to the laundry at the entrance to the suite.
This locations is a walker's dream. We walked downtown almost every day for either happy hour at TGIF or Fred's where you can enjoy a huge marguarita for 5$ (less on Tuesdays) or to take in one of the many attractions close by - Seaport Village, the Midway, Horton Plaza, the trolley, etc.
The freeways were also nearby. Within minutes, we were at Old Town, Balboa Park, Little Italy, etc.
The listing was accurate, the photos reflect the rental and the property was very clean. Renters need to be aware that this particular suite is unique and not in the same building as the other suites offered for rent by Parc Suites.
We have no qualms recommending this property to friends, family and visitors and we hope to return and stay there again in the near future. So much better than a hotel in every way possible!
We spent six days at the comfortable Parc Suites. The accommodations were generally good but we pointed out several problems in the rooms and furnishings that we were told would be fixed right away and were not. We stayed in more than one unit and the final one was a large, two bedroom suite with private bath for each room. One room was very comfortable, but the other was so small it didn't even have a bedside table. This disparity isn't a problem when you are putting your children there, but uncomfortable when it is another couple. We had rented a car and it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go from the Parc Suites. We read comments about this being an unsafe neighborhood, but we didn't find it uncomfortable at all. It is near an over pass that serves as a homeless camp, but San Diego has a major problem in many areas with the homeless. We found it charming that a woman came to the corner every day selling tamales and shouted "Tamaaaaales" in the most incredibly loud voice for about 10 minutes before moving on.
A turnoff was the incredibly long list of rules, but these are older homes with peculiarities that people might not understand. Most of it was common sense so we supposed they had had some visitors a little short on that commodity. Kelly worked with us to get our party of four squared away for different times we are there. The properties were very clean and well-maintained and a number of our problems stemmed for work done on a unit just before we took it. It was an quick ride to Balbao Park where we spent a lot of time and we loved breakfast at the Mission restaurant.
The property itself was nice, but not great. It is in an older but under restoration Victorian home. The kitchen is absolutely the best feature by far. The property is nice, owners very cordial and helpful, etc. The part that wasn't clear to me until I stayed there is that while this is farily close to everything this is not the part of San Diego you would pick to stay if you could drive around there first. Roads are not in good repair for bike riders. I rode three mornings and glad I took my crossover bike as my road bike tires would have been hammered. We got a recent value, but next time we would stay at Mission Bay or a name property downtown. This is not the property you can go walk aroudn at night.
Stayed at this location for a week . Lots of space for two couples, very comfortable and had everything we needs to make our stay enjoyable. Quite area, walking distance to downtown and all the attractions. Host very accommodating, friendly and obliging. We were like in our own home , comfortable. Definitely recommend.
I stayed at the Parc suites during a Conference in San Diego. The 2 bedroom condo was large, had a very nice kitchen, and comfortable furniture. The owners were very accomodating and helpful. In fact, when our taxi to the airport never showed, putting us at risk of missing our flight, they very graciously gave us a ride to there.
This is a charming Victorian house that has an European feel. It's very quiet in the evening. The living room has two big windows and a view to the Coronado bridge. We enjoyed looking out of the window in the night. The location is super convenient, very close to major highways, and we jogged to the Gaslamp district couple of times. It has a great kitchen and 2 flat screen TVs. The hostess provided plenty of plush towels, gourmet cooking appliances and spices, and a warm welcome. The beds are very comfortable. It was a very pleasant stay!
Some other details:
It also had a veranda with table and chairs that looked very pleasant but we didn't get to use because we were always underway. It had off street parking. It didn't have dishwasher and the counter space in the bathrooms seemed small so that we couldn't spread out our stuff. The bar area in the kitchen was awesome with very comfortable bar chairs. The hostess suggested us to turn out the air conditioning in the night because it turned to get really hot. She was right on! The first night we forgot to turn it out and it became super hot. At the end we were required to bring out the trash and we had a little difficulty to pull the trash bag out of the trash can in the kitchen. We were a bit afraid that the bag would break. So maybe you want to bring out your trash before it becomes really full.
