I am a photographer and horse trainer. I travel a lot, that is how I found the unique area of Clark & Buck Taylor's cabin. I always travel with my dog's,a German Shepherd and a lively Jack Russell, and a new addition of a Great Dane! They LOVE to come out to the ranch and go hiking. My photography was fortunate enough to grace the cover of Cody & Beyond magazine & feature pictures of the area & the Cody Rodeo in the 2011-2013 & 2015 magazine. I spend my Summer's photographing some of the West's most memorable rodeo's but, the Cody Stampede s the most special of all!
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004
I loved the fact that I could be close to the mountains and yet when family and friends visit we could be close to TWO tourist towns and Yellowstone Park. We never run out of things to do! The mountains are so close and beautiful, and there is a wonderful view in every direction being up so high. Also a big factor is that even though the ranch is private , it is paved up to where the property starts. I can hike right off from the cabin & the Shoshonee National Forest is in the backyard. BLM land backs up behind the cabin so there is plenty of open space. Hiking in the Clarks Fork Canyon is such an experience, hearing the rush of the river, spotting wildlife, glorious views. Picturing the calvary chasing down Cheif Joseph and his tribe many years ago. Best is getting up, sipping coffee and watching the sunrise over the Big Horn's 80 miles to the East, and the colors glowing on the mountains behind you.
Enjoy complete privacy & be born free as you will be the only guest at the ranch! Peacefulness, great fishing, hiking in the mountains with many access trails. Seeing the wildlife run free, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, fresh air and awesome night skies with no city lights. I like the fact that historical figure Jeremiah Johnson used to frequent the area. There was a gunfight in the canyon & Cheif Joseph crossed through here when the calvary was in pursuit. There is a lot of history and you can feel it.
The cabin itself is so unique with hand tooled logs right from the Rocky Mountains! The decor is all 'old west', and you really feel a wonderful 'western experience'!
The ranch is pet friendly for pets and horses too. It feels good to think that Hall of Fame Cowboy, Buck Taylor, from 'Gunsmoke', used to own the cabin. You can listen to the coyote's and wolves howl while sitting at your bonfire at night, and really feel like you are in another era. There is plenty of cut firewood at the ranch for your use.
I also send my visitor's a travel planner packet. It has brochure's of activities in the Cody, Lovell, Red Lodge & Yellowstone area. I also include maps of the area, hiking trails, and fishing spot's.
Visitor's may plan well in advance their vacation time. This has gone over well & has proved to be very helpful to vacationer's.
We had eyed this property for a couple of years and finally took the plunge. What a joy! The cabin has all the ambiance, historical feel and feeling of an old west fantasy, with all the comforts of a modern refuge. The cabin has the decor and feel of the old western ranch that we folks raised on Gunsmoke crave, with all the modern comforts of a well appointed kitchen, microwave included, Internet, cable TV and locking doors. The views are spectacular, the quiet something we who live in cities never experience and the sunrises and sunsets beyond words. Lots of critters to watch, the resident bunnies are joyful and the bonfire pit at night under the stars was spectacular. Debbie was a joy to work with and Jerry on-site gave us the lay of the land, recommended day trips and was a wonderful new friend. We highly recommend the Go Away ranch and will be back again. Just wish we had horses to bring!!
My husband and I had a fantastic time, the cabin was everything we expected. Quiet, peaceful, and the views were great. The cabin had everything we needed, a true cabin, the morning sun rise was breath taking.
There was some many things to see in the different towns, along with a tour of Yellowstone, that we will have to plan another trip to visit the sights that we did not have time to see.
We recommend this cabin highly, when we go back we will rent it again.
I booked this cabin because it appeared to be a mix of cowboy rustic and western elegance. My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on the ranch and was not disappointed! The cabin was all that it was described to be and more! Debbie was wonderful to work with and the champagne with chilled glasses left in the fridge was a nice surprise!!! Jerry, the caretaker, came up on our 2nd day to introduce himself, to see that we had all that we needed and to make sure we knew he was available if we needed anything. Yes, the cabin is secluded, yet only 30-45 minutes to Cody, to Yellowstone and a stones throw to Montana! We did a lot of sight seeing, but did spend two whole days just relaxing and hanging out on the ranch. As for groceries and supplies, we just stopped by Walmart in Cody on our way in and got all we needed --- not an issue! We absolutely loved everything about our vacation and cannot wait to return. Thanks again Debbie for sharing your beautiful vacation home!!!! We were truly blessed to have found you!
This was the best vacation ever the cabin was beyond anything we could have expected. It was super clean decorated so nice and had everything you could ever want or need. The view was unbelievable. We will be back we drove for 2 days and it was so worth it. Thank you Debbie. We will see you again!!!!!
Go Away Ranch is a must stay! It was more than we expected. We will definitely be back.
We had an amazing time. This cabin has so many incredible touches that made it very authentic and added character. It was very welcoming, relaxing and felt like home. The owner was incredible, she sent us many local resources and guides and remained available throughout our stay.

Wonderful wild life viewing from your porch. Excellent fishing on the last wilderness river in Wyoming-The Clark's Fork Of The Yellowstone River!
