Great home and perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a home near Yosemite but not in the park as we had heard how bad the traffic could be in the summer. We chose this home....and so glad we did...only 13 miles from the entrance and about an hour from Yosemite Valley. The home is so clean and well maintained as well as spacious. We really felt at home. The game room was a huge hit with our son and his friend (both 18) who had an ongoing air hockey and ping pong tournament during our stay.

After much research I learned that it is best to stay away from Yosemite Valley on a weekend so we chose activities around the area then did Yosemite on a Monday and Tuesday. On Saturday we rented a pontoon boat through Bass Lake Boat rental and had a half day (we did 8am-1pm) and it was a blast! We rented fishing poles and an inner tube for they guys to have fun on. We brought a picnic lunch and ate on the boat (they also have grills on the pontoons if you want to cook). It was fun and relaxing. That evening we went to the Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad for their Moonlight Special (only on Saturday and Wed. nights I believe) for a Steak or Chicken dinner, gold panning (extra) and a ride on a steam engine train through the forest with a stop for an old time sing a long with a bluegrass band. I was not sure if the 18 year olds would appreciate the experience but it was great fun and we all would recommend. This is only about 10 miles from the house. On Sunday we white water rafted on the Merced River through Zephyr White Water Company and that was amazing! This was just a little over an hour away from the house and we did the afternoon run and had brunch in Mariposa area on the way. Due to the big snow this year and the run off the river was high and fast but SO MUCH FUN! I will admit we will just a little scared at first but they are very professional and we had a blast. On Monday we did the Yosemite Valley and Tuesday Glacier Point and Lunch at the Majestic Hotel in the Valley. Yosemite was really busy even on these days I cannot imagine on the weekend. We used the shuttles to get around instead of worrying about finding parking at every stop. Bottom line is this house was perfect for not just seeing Yosemite but enjoying the entire area. For any of the area activities it is wise to make advance reservations.

Jonathan was so great communicating with me prior to the visit and we touched base with Michelle while there but did not really need anything as everything was so well done!
