Paddington Apartment Rental Photos and Description

One of two adjoining properties - Large Groups can Rent Both!

Apartment is located above a Security Showroom directly across from St. Mary's Hospital (where Prince George was recently born!) and only a one minute walk from Paddington Station.

There are several flights of stairs to climb after entering through the front door so access to disabled or elderly may be limited.

Upon entering the apartment you will be greeted by the tiled terracotta floors, huge skylight and exposed brick wall of the living/dining room. A compact, but well equipped kitchen also awaits you. This has recently been renovated.

There is also a small rooftop patio for barbequing or sunbathing (weather permitting). SMOKING is confined to this area!

Also on the first floor of the maisonette is a bathroom with shower and a large bedroom comprising 4 single beds. Of special interest is the ornate gas fireplace. The large picture windows look out onto busy, cosmopolitan Praed Street.

Up one flight of stairs you will find three additional bedrooms, the bathroom and a utility closet, where washer and dryer are located. Two of the bedrooms are medium sized and furnished with double beds, while the third is much smaller and features bunk beds. Most bedrooms are provided with clock radios and hairdryers. Floors on the upper level are hardwood except for the bathroom which features black and white tiling.

Recessed lighting is featured throughout the apartment. There is central heating but no air conditioning although in the case of a heat wave we will provide fans.

Our housekeeper, Maria S., is available on request for extra cleaning (at your own expense). She lives very nearby so can be called if any problems should arise.

If you are part of a large group you can also rent our next door property which has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and can accommodate up to 8 persons.

About Maria Barry

The property has been in our family for over 60 years. My father started the business on the ground floor as a bicycle (and scooter) repair shop. He later expanded into cutting keys and eventually into a fully fledged locksmith firm. Today my 3 brothers and one sister continue the tradition! My role, since my older brother and his family moved out, is to keep the upstairs flats rented out as frequently as possible. The family is of Italian/Irish/Scottish decent. (We also have a property in Barga, Tuscany (Italy) listed with VRBO.

Convenient Location great apartment

We had 6 adults stay for 4 nights and it was perfect. Very close to Paddington station and walkable to many attractions or just a short 2 mile cab to many others. Apartment was clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Nice sized, clean apartment convenient to Paddington Station

I recently stayed at this apartment with two families with a total of 4 adults and 5 teenage children. The apartment is on the third floor of a building on Praed Street and just a few minutes walk from Paddington rail and Underground Station. The first floor of the apartment had a large bedroom with four single beds and a bathroom with shower. The first floor also had a room with large kitchen table and two sofas and a TV and a small kitchen. The second level had two rooms with double beds and 1 bedroom with a bunk bed (two beds). It also had another bathroom and shower.

The apartment was clean and a very comfortable space for my large group. It was very convenient to get anywhere in London and was a great base for traveling the city. The owner communicated very well with me prior to arrival and when I was making the arrangements. The housekeeper Maria was very nice, extremely accessible and was always available to come over when we called.

Overall I was very pleased with this apartment. It is difficult to find an apartment for such a large group in central London and this property worked out great. Only things to be aware of are that it is on the third floor so you need to bring your bags up quite a few stairs and there is no air conditioning. But these were not a problem for us. I would certainly stay there again.

Nice housing for a large group in a convenient location

Good location near Paddington Station (includes rail and four lines of the Underground). The 15 minute train ride to/from Heathrow on the Heathrow Express was a huge plus. Also relatively close to the Lancaster Gate station for the Central Underground line. Easy walk to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park.

The kitchen was small, but well equipped. Laundry facilities were good and the hot water for showers seemed to be unending. The common area was a nice size with 2 couches and a large table.

Lots of restaurants nearby - Pride of Paddington and Ask Italian were great for our large family group. Noor Jahan was excellent. We enjoyed an adult only dinner out at The Victoria. Close to the Tesco Express which had a decent selection for groceries.

Good availability from the caretaker.


Three of the four bedrooms face a busy street with lots of traffic. We ended up using White Noise apps on our phones to help cover it when sleeping. There was also random jack-hammering one night at 11:30 pm that woke us up.

They need curtains in some of the bedrooms, especially for summer travelers. The window coverings were basically transparent at night. We ended up hanging jackets on the window in an attempt to block some of the light.

Other notes:

This is mentioned in the property description, but just want to re-iterate that you climb 3 flights of stairs to get to the apartment. At the end of a long day of walking, this was harder for some members of the group.

They don't provide washcloths, which is fairly common for European travel, but worth noting.

There was a panhandler that set up camp right in front of the entrance every afternoon. He was not aggressive.

Under the amenities section, it mentions a bathtub, but there are only 2 showers.

Perfectly located flat in the heart of London!

Spacious and full of light, our stay was wonderful! Maria was so accommodating and responsive before and during our stay. Good size bedrooms, open living spaces and two full bathrooms allowed everyone to be very comfortable. Across the street from many bus lines and only two blocks away from the Paddington Underground and Central train station, we could easily connect to all the sites of the city. Close to coffee shops, restaurants and grocery stores, the neighborhood had everything that we needed!

Couldn't have been better

Although finding the front door the first time was a challenge, that may have well been a first timer to London issue. once that was figured out everything was nice and easy. Maria was wonderful and the flat was clean, well set up and comfortable.

everything was clean and simple, the water was hot and had great pressure in the showers.

yes, there are stairs and yes, there was a little street noise - but going in knowing and expecting that it was still perfect.

the underground is an incredibly short walk away, but there are lots of good food options right downstairs, in fact there is everything you could want in a day with in just a short walk. Mimo's for breakfast, Sawyer Arms or Dicken's for a pub, Le Gourmet for Shawerma and Noor Jahan for a great curry.

you cant go wrong here.

I would absolutely stay here again if my travels bring me back to London.

My family of seven stayed here for six nights in November. Maria was great about communicating with us in advance on the apartment facilities, directions and how to get the keys. When we arrived, the housekeeper (also named Maria) was friendly and helpful and showed us around the flat. Everything was in good working order.

The kitchen is small but well equipped. The only thing we couldn't find was a cutting board. (Not a big problem!) We appreciated the coffee and tea that was provided as well as the cooking basics (salt, pepper & sugar).

The location is fantastic! We flew into Heathrow and took the Heathrow Express train to Paddington station. We easily found the flat and were inside the flat within 30 minutes of our departure from Heathrow. There are lots of great restaurants nearby (Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Fish & Chips, Pubs, Coffee shops, and more!) There are also several pharmacies and a few grocery stores. Everything you need! (My daughters were especially thrilled that the flat is directly across from St. Mary's Hospital where Prince George & Princess Charlotte were born!)

We highly recommend this flat for all visitors. It is spacious, clean, well equipped, well priced and convenient. What more could you ask?
