Trastevere has an ancient history that extends all the way back to ancient Rome. The area is so gorgeous that many famous and prominent people have built homes there, including Julius Caesar's garden villa Horti Caesaris. Much of its construction occurred in the Middle Ages, including the expansion of its narrow streets to make room for carriages. The area still has the feel of a medieval town, which is what gives it character and appeal to visitors.
Walking through the alleys of Trastevere, one is struck by the magic that runs through the streets and fully understand the meaning of 'Eternal City'. Rome grows, expands, but continues to maintain a heart and pride inherited from 'ancient Rome.

The Trastevere area resembles a traditional Southern-Italian village with narrow and winding cobblestone streets. Many visitors like to stay in a Rome apartment in the Trastevere area because of its dining, entertainment and cultural opportunities. It is a great place to spend all day walking and soaking up Italian living. Many tourists feel that this is the closest you can get to real Rome.
“This is a perfect spot for a family of four. Gianmarco was fabulous and his hospitality was superb. We were greeted by his wife and shortly afterwards by Gianmarco. The place is really clean with a washer and dryer, blow dryer, iron, and wifi. They made sure we had breakfast items (bread, juice, muffins, and coffee) and gave a thorough explanation of how to use the items in the apartment. He answered all our questions on how to get around Rome and even had detailed information printed out in case you forget.
Everything was beautiful It was perfectly clean, secure and quiet and the location was ideal. Trastevere is a most convenient place. Plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes & little stores etc. nearby. Very convenient location. We walked to many of the well known Roman places. Food was easy to obtain.
It's literally right by the tram, train, and bus stations/stops. From the stops, you can access all major sites. We forgot to print out our boarding passes and he took care of it for us and he also let us keep our luggage in the apartment till 3:00pm even though checkout was at 11:00. His communication with us was very prompt! I highly recommend this place! ”
We have stayed at Gianmarco's place and we loved the location, amenities and exceptional customer service from Gianmarco. The location is convenient to all public transportation as well as the Trastevere neighborhood, which is filled with great restaurants and shops and the neighborhood is ideal for quick access to the Main sites of Rome by foot . We highly recommend if you like the feel of a home away from home to return to after a busy day exploring Rome. Thank you so much, we had a wonderful time!
Gianmarco was very accommodating about our arrival time and waited for us even though we were late. The apartment was clean and comfortable with all necessary accommodations. The beds were very comfortable, even the pull out couch! The location was very close to the station and everything we needed from market to restaurants was very close. I highly recommend staying here!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this clean and modern apartment. The bed was soooo comfortable and the location was very convenient to getting around Rome easily. We will definitely be back.
We stayed here for 10 nights and really enjoyed this apartment. It is within a 5 minute walk to the Trastevere train station which worked perfect for transferring to/from Termini as well as nice to have a direct train right to the airport. We were met at the apartment and the hostess was professional and kind. Arriving on a Sunday afternoon, it was very quiet as many stores are closed in the area and we weren't sure what to expect but we soon learned that this was a fantastic location. There is a grocery store within about 10 minutes walk (at the most) and it has everything to buy at very reasonable prices. Our international bank BNP was within 10 minutes as well. We took the tram 8 every day as we walked so much that we treated ourselves to/from main areas but you could choose not to as well. It was hot in Rome and we are so thankful that the apartment had air conditioning. Gianmarco had left us breakfast treats, juice, water and wine (so appreciated, especially when we arrived on the Sunday late afternoon). The apartment worked perfect for 3 teens and 2 adults; it has everything you could need to cook, comfortable beds, quality linens and towels. There is also a bakery right downstairs on the corner closest to the apartment - not sure the hours as it wasn't all day but it has delicious baked goods. We felt safe and the location is quiet at night (no noise from street or neighbours). Apartment is bright, spacious, tastefully decorated. All emails were answered promptly by Gianmarco. I really can't say enough positive things about this apartment and Gianmarco.
Entertainment in Trastevere:
A favorite place among many is Big Mama, where you can enjoy concerts playing jazz, rock and blues. Big Mama is a place where aspiring young singers hit the stage in the hopes of becoming famous. This is also a great area to go out for dinner. Not only are there plenty of authentic Italian restaurants with high-quality pizza and pasta dishes, but many of the restaurants open earlier than in other parts of Rome to cater to tourists. In other parts of Rome, it is rare to find Romans who eat before 8 p.m.
The Trastevere is known for delicious food and some of the best restaurants in Rome. The La Fraschetta is considered to have the best gnocchi in town and offers customers four different sauces to go with the gnocchi. Another restaurant, Ristorante Asinocotto, has dishes made with fresh produce, sourced at the owner's own farm.
