3 couples (my wife and I, and both sets of our parents) and a baby had a blast at this house. You're 1-2 blocks from the harbor, a 10 minute beautiful walk to Main street, and what a great price.
We've stayed in many houses found on VRBO, and I can say I was very impressed with what was inside the house. Usually we are hopeful for sugar and ketchup. This house had everything from coffee to condiments, nice tvs and dvd player, beautiful bathrooms with really nice showers/tubs, trash bags, paper towels, everything to do laundry and clean up. Also had a nice supply of kitchen stuff (stainless steel pots & pans, plenty of cups and utensils, grill outside). I brought half my kitchen expecting nothing to be in the house and was so very pleasantly surprised.
Can't say how the house would be in prime season, but we had an amazing trip here right before Memorial Day. I would highly recommend to anyone.
The house is wonderful, as is the owner. It is obvious that the owners use the house and that it isn't a pure rental because the beds are comfortable, there are plenty of towels, there is beach accoutrement in the basement, and the kitchen is well stocked. You are feet away from a local access point to a small beach where we spent a lot of time when the kids were very little, digging in the sand and watching the boats and ferries go by. It is walking distance to the main beaches, to the harbor where you can take a ferry to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, dine at several restaurants, and listen to the free bands, it is also walking distance to the main street where you will find LOTS of restaurants, shops, a post office, and a great library. This central location can't be beat for seeing the whole Cape. It is very close to the Edward Gorey house, and a reasonable drive to anything from Woods Hole and the play house in Falmouth, to the glass factory and other great museums in Sandwich, to the mud flats and Natural History Museum in Brewster, to the grand ocean facing beaches, to the adorable Chatham, and the best and cheapest lobster we've ever had from the Chatham Farmer's Market (stop by Marion's Pie Shop on the way home from the farmers market - yum!!). The owner was easy and wonderful to work with. Very accommodating and helpful. We've stayed at this house twice and would definitely go back!
I love the Cape and this house in Hyannis was perfect for us. I brought my children and grandchildren who loved being able to run out and play on the deck in the morning. The beach is perfect. This house has everything you need and as others have mentioned in their review, the owner is very helpful and responds quickly to any request you might have. We would love to come back.
6 of us (3 couples 35+) just stayed at this property for a wedding this past weekend. The house was exactly what we were looking for and very affordable for being just around busy season. It is on a quiet street only a few minute walk from all the restaurants and shops. Sheila is on top of everything and very responsive to any request you might have. I highly recommend this property and will definitely stay here again.
We stayed for here for the last week of August 2012 and it was our 2nd time to stay. The location was great, just a few minutes walk from the harbour for trips to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to Hyannis Main St where there is a wide variety of restaurants and shops. Beaches are close by and there is a parking pass for the local beach car parks. Veterans beach is only a 2 minute drive or a 10 minute walk away. Hyannis is a good base for exploring the Cape and we managed to cover most of thearea while we were there. The house itself comes fully equipped and is spacious and comfortable. The area is quiet and we had several barbecues on the rear deck which we really enjoyed. We would definitely recommend the property to our friends and absolutely hope to return again.
The house is in a great location - neighborhood street and walkable to the ferries and some beaches.
There are some very nice features - deck, patio, master bedroom, eat-in kitchen.
One of the other bedrooms on the main floor is dark, hot and stuffy.
Another bedroom and the tv room and a full bath is downstairs and has a basement feel - dark, damp, stuffy.
Do not choose this house if you must have air conditioning. It is only in some rooms and they are room air conditioners. This was a major problem for my family because I have cystic fibrosis, my brother has multiple sclerosis and my sister has severe asthma.
The electricity is of some concern because the switches were finicky and some utilities would not turn off.
This house has great potential, a work in progress.
