Married 41 years, five children, twelve grandchildren. My wife and I own a Contract Research Organization which manages clinical trials for the biotechnology industry.
Brian Murphy purchased this cottage in 2009
We inherited the cottage. It is a fabulous location but quite far from where we live in California. However, we use it two weeks every summer.
There are lots of birds - geese, ducks, cranes, kingfishers as well as many different types of small birds, due to a large wetland located nearby.
I, with my colleagues and friends (7 adults) spent the wonderful time at the cottage. We arrived there pretty late, when we entered into the cottage, it is soo clean, neat and cozy! FALL IN LOVE RIGHT AWAY! slept very well. the next morning, the view out is fantastic! We all enjoyed it by fishing, playing cards and BBQ outside. The most wonderful thing is that there are two kitchens, we got two talented cooks and they could cook at two different places.
In addition, the owner Brian is helpful all the time and property manager Derra leaves the thorough tips about the cottage and the attractions around cottage.
The only thing is that it is too far away from Toronto. lol
My family and I stayed at this beautiful cottage over the weekend and we had an amazing time. The view is breathless and the cottage was well equipped with everything you would need away from home. There is a huge front lawn that is great for playing sports and the back is even better with the waterfront. The set up of the cottage is also very nice for those you enjoy a family get away but would also like some privacy. As well Brian was very helpful in accommodating my family and answering my numerous questions, I would definitely visit again :)
Stayed at this cottage for weekend with big family( 7 adults and 3 children). We had a great time. The cottage was well equipped, clean and tidy.
The cottage looks exact as on the photos.
The view from the cottage is gorgeous .
We enjoyed fishing and the boat.
We would go back again
Stayed at this cottage for Thanksgiving weekend, it was very easy to find. It looked just like in the pictures and was very clean, I had to contact the owner about a couple of questions before we left for the weekend and they were very helpful and quick with the response.
I would recommend this cottage to friends for a get away.
Also we drove to Upper Canada Village on the Sat. to see the pumpkin display which was so worth going to see. (Only a 20 min drive). :):):)
Family of four with 5 and 7 year old found this a charming and relaxing break from our hectic academic careers and thus were happy to be well off the grid for a few days. If you're looking for 4 star Michelin perhaps stick to urban settings since a some of the feedback from previous reviewers is accurate though needlessly pejorative. We brought our own water which is always prudent, were pleased with the endless supply of hot water in both [working] showers, and were enchanted each evening with the setting of the sun and peaceful vibe of the place. I was born in this area and this type of rustic cottage is quite typical and indeed what we were looking for. The place was spotless upon arrival though yes the windows and sills could use what others have described as a thorough 'spring cleaning'. Our kids roamed freely feeling safe and sound, and we enjoyed day trips to the local museum, historical sites and the Fort. Trains are a factor throughout this region though inside we heard nothing at night, and unless out of doors in the wee hours wouldn't have even noticed. Although no wheelchair ramp the place is very flat, sliding doors worked very well, and it was accessible for my elderly Mom with mobility challenges. She was very happy to visit repeatedly and lingered on the patio with its amazing river views. Will be happy to rent in future.
My husband and I came with my sister from England and her husband and 3 boys age 7 -12. We had a fantastic time. The cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived. There is a full size fridge and stove in main kitchen and both were clean and fairly new. Nice new gas barbecue. The view from the cottage is wonderful. The water is right at your back door, is very shallow and it is a quiet little inlet so it is great for families with young children. We enjoyed fishing and the boat. Though boat could be repaired as we found it leaked a bit. Hugh property out front for kids/adults to play a game of soccer etc. There is an Independent grocery store only 15 minute drive from cottage in town of Prescott. The area had lots to do as very historic but we ran out of time as only rented for 4 days. As another reviewer stated, yes there were a few cobwebs in the windows etc and could use a good spring cleaning and a little bit of maintenance on minor items but overall we were very happy with the cottage and location. We would go back again
The 1000 islands (there are actually 1,793) stretch for 70 miles from Kingston to Cardinal. The famous cruises leave Rockport , a scenic 35 minute drive southwest of Cardinal on the St. Lawrence River.
