Charming, Fantastic Lake House

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic lake house for our 2 week stay!! We couldn't have asked for more during our stay. Chris was great both before and during our stay, and the house and property more than lived up to expectations. Everyone of our visitors (and us) could not believe all of the amenities provided, and all wished they could have stayed more than the few days that they did. The kayaks, dock, gazebo area, huge yard and fire pit gave us many options to explore everyday -- sunrise at the gazebo or dock, days kayaking, biking, swimming with our dog or exploring the local wineries, and evenings grilling and sitting by a fire. Watkins Glen and Geneva are nearby for dining options, and one stop at Mr Twistees will certainly be followed by another.

We will be sure to be back, as we can't imagine another property having everything that this one does!

I can't say enough about Chris' home. My girlfriend and I have made it a yearly trip to Seneca Lake following Christmas. Instead of staying in an overpriced hotel (and having to travel 20-30 minutes AWAY from the lake just to GET to the hotel), we decided to see what properties were available ON the lake.

We found Chris' home, and opted to take my girlfriend's parents with us. The four of us had a WONDERFUL time. If this home were any closer to the lake, you'd need oars to get to the bathroom. It is extremely spacious and has a very "warm" feel. We didn't feel like we were "visiting," we felt like we LIVED on the lake.

Add the fact that Chris allowed our new Chocolate Lab puppy to join us (and had two different sized metal crates on the property), and our weekend excursion couldn't have been any better.

We will be staying at Chris' home whenever we visit Seneca Lake (or ANY of the Finger Lakes, for that matter) in the future. We encourage you to do the same!

Our Favorite Place To Stay in The Finger Lakes....

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our second visit at your beautiful home. We've been at other rentals, because your place was booked, and NONE of them can compare to "The Snedeker House." It was like coming home again :-). Loved what you've done with the yard. How nice to be in the living room and be able to see the beautiful lake and then turn around and see how nicely decorated the yard was with the table, chairs and plants. You have thought of everything. If possible, the kitchen was even more stocked than our previous stay, amazing!!!!. The new TV in the back bedroom was a nice addition.

Weather permitted and we all really enjoyed sitting outside for "Happy Hour" one evening and watching the lake scenery.

We hope that availability will permit us to stay at your beautiful home again next year.

Heaven on Earth :)

  • 5 of 5

This Seneca lakeside property is truly a little piece of heaven on earth. You may marvel at the photos online, but the actual home and grounds will take your breath away when you see them in person. This owner has definitely put a little piece of herself into decorating both the home and grounds of this property. We have rented many vacation homes throughout the years, and without a doubt, this is what we would describe as a showcase rental property, combining comfort, cleanliness, and quality.

We spent a week at this home, and still did not have enough time to do all we would have liked. There are wonderful eateries all along the lake, with our favorites being Rainbow Cove (right next door) for a quicky breakfast bite to start out the day, and Ports Cafe for a wonderful chef's-display dinner, located halfway between your home and Geneva (be sure to make reservations). We visited several wineries, with our favorites being Bully Hill (great restaurant as well) & Magnus Ridge. We would highly recommend the tour at Bully Hill. Such an interesting history of the winery itself as well as the wine-making process. We even brought along golf clubs and spent an afternoon overlooking the beauty of Keuka Lake while enjoying a round of golf.

Whether on the water in one of the two kayaks provided with this rental or exploring the beauty of the finger lakes region, this property is definitely the place to call home. We had a fantastic time, as did our two canine family members :)

Thank you for sharing your lovely lake home with us, Christine & Peter. Can't wait to come back !

A great place for a lake vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a lovely two week vacation at this great lakeside home. For part of the time it was just me, my husband, and our water dog. For a long weekend, two dear friends joined us. The house is lovely and indeed has everything you need. When we were looking at it, we tried to get a sense of the lay-out -- as others have said the pictures do not do it justice. There is a large, flat yard great for fetch with the dog. (The yard goes from the pavilion structure with a house to the left all the way to the edge of the property past the rental and towards Plum Point road.) The outdoor dining area is by the back corner of the house near the two grills (a charcoal and gas.) The house, pavilion, and fire pit area, all have seating to sit and watch the lake. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch in the morning and the seating area in the pavilion during the day, and the fire pit at night. (Chris provides skewers for roasting marshmallows.) As you can see from the pictures there is a fence, but is mostly decorative as it is open on the driveway and walkway from the house. But, the road is mostly quiet without a lot of traffic so we were able to cross safely with the dog to get to the beach and the dock.

The beach is a pebbled beach with easy entry for dogs and people. It has a very gradual slope into the lake. At the end of the dock the water is about 3 ft deep. My dog (who is a cautious one) felt fine jumping off the end of the dock. But, he had to swim back to the beach to go onto the dock again. Again, since the road is lightly traveled I just watched him go from the beach back to the dock.

We visited about a dozen wineries both on the east and west side of the lake. We had a great dinner at Ports Café based on Chris's recommendation. We also had a fantastic lunch at Stonecat Café on the other side of the lake. We thought the food at the Rainbow Cove was only okay. We also liked Glenora's restaurant.

We hope to return again to this lovely home and would recommend it highly.

Well cared for, charming, very comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

From a week to an extended overall three-week stay in the month of June, we spent a wonderfully restful and recuperative time at this lovely home on Seneca Lake. The two of us - quite senior husband and wife - lacked nothing for our comfort in this charming and exceptionally well-appointed home. Such great views from every room of the house and so many pleasurable outdoor retreats on this beautiful property added to our great enjoyment. We hope to return next year for another grand getaway.
