About Sean Moffatt
We've been involved fulltime in the arts for most of our lives. The idea of renting the cottage was suggested to us by some friends, which seemed mad at the time (before Air B&B!) but we haven't looked back since. Guests just seem to take to the cottage immediately (as the reviews will testify) which is very satisfying. Long may it continue!
Why Sean Moffatt chose City Centre Dublin
For it's location and it's charm, it's that simple. Oh... and for being able to hear birdsong in the morning despite the fact that you are in a busy city!
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage is so close to the center of things and yet you are in a tiny, quiet, residential square, cut off from all that traffic and everyday business, a landscaped garden to one side, potted plants to the other, a high old wall, that runs along the line of the old city walls, climbing roses covering it in late spring and early summer... all this and the fact of it being a 'Cottage' not an apartment, but a real house, over one hundred and twenty years old, a piece of history in itself!!!

It was a rather humbling feeling when my husband and I first entered our cottage in the oldest part of Dublin. It definitely gave us a real sense of the history in this area.
The cottage is small which we felt in the bathroom and bedroom. It was very tight getting out of the shower, and the bed in the larger bedroom had walls on three sides making it very difficult if you had to get out. That bed also needs a new mattress as others have suggested.
The cottage is in a very good location. We were able to walk to many of Dublin’s attractions such as Trinity College, Christchurch Cathedral, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Temple Bar, etc. Also we had no trouble finding good places to eat.
Another quirk we found almost immediately was the heating system. Unfortunately it was either on or off; there was no adjustment. And in order to have hot water in the two sinks, the heat had to be on. Also I tend to be a warm sleeper. Unfortunately the only cover on the larger bed was a heavy comforter. I would have liked more layers which would have made it much more comfortable. I must add too that some of the dishes were not clean and had to be washed before using.
The little historic cottage is unique and in a good location, but, in our opinion, could use some updating.
The cottage was very close to everything in Dublin. Ireland is a great place to visit.
Small, authentic, great location, quiet. Walked to Gaiety Theatre and Abbey Theatre. Took hop on bus, and 2 other bus tours. It was a terrific 5 days.
Sean's cottage was a perfect place for a stay in Dublin. Close walking distance to everything you want to see in central Dublin, the cottage was just right for our stay. Everything from check-in through departure was seamless, and the amenities cannot be beat. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking to thoroughly enjoy a trip to Dublin!
I stayed at the cottage for 5 days and it was a wonderful experience. We were in walking distance of everything which was perfect. The owner was very accommodating with our early morning arrival. I will definitely look to stay here again next time I'm in Dublin!
We loved Sean's little cottage. It was quiet and cozy, but close enough to everything to walk. We loved the little neighborhood bars and restaurants that we discovered just by walking around the area. Ringing in New Year at Christ Church Cathedral will be a night we will never forget. Thanks Sean!
