Our property is located at the north end of Seaside - right on the beach. We have an unobstructed view of the coastline from Tillamook Head Lighthouse to Cape Disappointment on the southwest tip of Washington State.

One can sit in any room of our house (with the exception of the utility room) and enjoy a serene peaceful setting, beautiful sunsets and the tides changing as time passes by (too quickly). To add to your privacy, our house has one-way glass viewing, making it easy for you to look out but hard for others to see in. How ever, at night with lights on inside the house, you can see in.

By stepping out our door, you can walk on the sand or the promenade for a short 20 minutes and be in downtown Seaside where you can enjoy car shows, conventions, arcades, museums, dining or shopping. There is something for everyone. With less that a five minute walk directly in front of our house, you can experience clam digging on some of the North Coasts best razor clam beds.

Over the years many of our guests have made our home their annual vacation destination. Staying at our place has become a family tradition for many of our guests. Some guests have returned for as many as 15 years saying there is no other place that they would even consider staying.

Choose our place to stay and start making your own traditions and memories that you will never forget. You won’t be sorry you chose the Hayes Beach House.

About Debbie Hayes

We built this house ourselves (with the help of a friend) in 1987 for our family enjoyment. We have spent almost every 4th of July here with our family since 1987 and hope to be spending many more. Our Grandson was born on July 4th 1997 which makes the holiday extra special for us. We plan to retire here and enjoy beach activities for the rest of our lives.

Debbie Hayes purchased this house in 1987

Why Debbie Hayes chose Coastal Oregon

We built our home on one of the few vacant ocean front lots available in Seaside. The location is excellent and less than 2 hours from our home.

What makes this house unique

Serene peaceful settings, sunsets, clam digging, crabbing, storm watching, whale watching, kites, kite surfing, surfing, fishing, hiking, golfing, shell collecting, walking on the beach and shopping.

We take great pride in providing a very clean house for our guests. Since our house is located on the sandy beach, we have a no shoes policy (inside the house). We do have a garage that is very convenient for shoe removal. Over the years we have seemed to collect kids beach toys that we make available to our guests.

Fantastic Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

So many wonderful qualities about this house! Where do I start?

THE VIEW: It is simply amazing. Waking up to the ocean in the loft bedroom was so peaceful! The many windows on the main level let you enjoy the ocean all day long, rain or shine. My only complaint is that I couldn't see the ocean at night. ;)

CLEAN: This house was so clean. Very obviously cleaned & maintained with pride.

HOME: The layout is great! One bedroom on main level, if stairs are a problem. 3 comfortable bedrooms upstairs. Loved that we could park inside the garage! (Our Suburban fit!) Kitchen/Dining/Living space is open and comfortable. Great for family time. Appliances are updated.

COMMUNICATION: Owner is friendly and a great communicator.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Even my 7 year old appreciated how beautiful the view was. And... we have already booked our next stay!

Owner's Response: What a wonderful review; thank you. You might not be able to see the ocean at night but you can see the lights of the crab boats. If the weather is not too stormy for the crabbers and the fishing is good you can see up to 20 or so boats working all night. As for the cleanliness: When we are there, we try to stop and take the time to clean, touch up or repair anything we see. We take great pride in knowing that we have never had a guest complain about the condition or the cleanliness of our house. We are lucky to have the cleaning ladies (a mother/daughter combo) that we do because they take as much pride as we do, leaving our house perfect for our guests. When they decide to quit cleaning our house we will probably have to quit sharing our house with our guests (or make it pet friendly). When we built the house we had a choice of less windows and more walls for art; we opted for the windows because we thought the real beauty (natures art) was outside; viewable from inside.

Great Place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our third year staying at the Hayes house. The house is located in a great spot with fairly easy access to the water. There is plenty of room for us with 4 bedrooms. We will definitely come back again. Daryl & Lorna

Owner's Response: We are glad you guys had a good time and enjoyed your vacation at our home away from home. We are pleased to say approximately 50% of our summer guests are return renters. Over the years, many of them have enjoyed more summer weeks at our place than we have. We have one family that started vacationing with us when their children were small. Now those small children are bringing their small children to enjoy all that Seaside has to offer. We probably won't see the next generation of the family; I don't think we will be a vacation destination by that time.

Excellent, well stocked, immaculate house

  • 5 of 5

There's no better view than from the upstairs bedroom love seat. Watched a couple of gorgeous sunsets from there. Very nice place to relax and enjoy the view.

The house is completely stocked with everything you need except food. The kitchen has all of the necessities and then some.

The owners do have some very sensible ground rules that help keep the place spotless. And spotless it was when we arrived. Checkout was easy as they have a checklist of expected duties posted on the garage door. No problem getting our deposit back.

We had a couple of glitches during our stay (dishwasher quit) but the owners more than made up for it with a partial refund.

Great location! Located north of promenade away from the bustling downtown.

  • 5 of 5

This beach house is steps away from the beach. The location is great. The kitchen is well-stocked. The owners thought very well the essentials and the extra kitchen utensils needed to make the guests stay comfortable.

The owners' quick response by text within five minutes or less were very helpful to make our stay pleasant.

Even though it was hot & muggy on our first day of stay, we experienced one of the most gorgeous sunsets we've seen in our entire lives right there in their spacious back porch.

We used the fire pit in the back of the house facing the beach on the second day when the temperature dipped to low 50s. Of course, we went to Safeway to buy our own fire wood as it is cheaper than to use the one's in the garage.

The kids had fun playing at the beach and had memorable experience spending time with their cousins.

A few things to improve:

1. This house does not have an AC unit so on those days that are really hot (90s and above), this house gets stuffy! They had one small fan in one of the rooms. It would have been better to have a few more fans just in case they have a heat wave again like that weekend. They have two ceiling fans though, but it was not enough to quickly cool off the entire house. I was aware that they have an unusual hot weather that day (June 24) but it was so uncomfortable for my friend (from the NW) who struggled with the heat & have health issues. The family from Texas were used to having air conditioning set in 70-72 degrees F all year round especially during those hot summer days, so it was an adjustment for them. The family from SW Canada had to make adjustments also due to the extremely hot Oregon weather.

I know that it is not the Hayes' fault to have that kind of weather that weekend but maybe they can have portable fans stand-by for guests to use during one of those "heat waves."

2. Also, maybe they can provide better instructions and equipment regarding separation of trash. The 10 people that have stayed in the house have varying experiences with separation of trash so when we were separating the trash we had to read several times the instructions posted in one of the doors in the kitchen. We were not sure if we have to separate the paper from the recyclable plastic, food scraps from glass containers, etc.

Overall, it was an excellent short vacation at the beach & was glad that the Hayes' home was available during that time. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

What an amazing location. We walked on the beach early every morning. The house is just far enough off the Prom to feel like a private beach, but close enough to walk downtown. The house was perfect. There was room for everyone. The house was very well stocked. The only things we needed were food and beach towels. The kids loved being able to roast marshmallows in the fire pit.We are definitely coming back next year.

Owner's Response: We have a prom address but no concrete promenade between our house and the surf which adds to the feeling of being on the beach; our email address covers that. Way back in time the city of Seaside talked about extending the Prom to the north which would have gone in front of our house. We're glad that it never happened because we say vacation on the beach not "at" the beach. We are glad we put in the fire pit; most everyone likes it but supplying beach towels didn't exactly work out well for us and some vacationing guests. We will see you again.

Beautiful house and ideal beach location for a family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous multi-generational gathering. The beach views and quick access to beach are amazing. The house was extremely clean and well appointed. The kitchen had all the essential you'd need. The main floor bedroom was really nice to have for my mom who had difficulty with steps. Once she made it up the stairs into the house, she was all set. The fire pit and available outdoor chairs was a fun place to relax at the end of each evening. It is next to a public beach access but it was not a big deal at all - not a lot of foot traffic. It was actually fun watching families periodically heading to/from the beach. The house sits on the north end of the Seaside. It's a 10-15 minute walk along the beach or through the streets. That was perfect for us - away from the tourist noise and hubbub but easily accessible to walk in and explore the shops and restaurants. We'll be back!

Owner's Response: We have had a lot of people ask about the stairs over the years. Having three different ways to enter our house helps our guests get in; once in they don't have to leave. The stairs are a necessity because without them our place would be about eight feet lower and wouldn't have the wonderful view that you get from any place in the house. The sand dunes are getting bigger each year and are starting to obscure the ocean views for some of the houses along the Prom that were built lower to the ground (with no stairs). We enjoy watching the people that use the beach access; they walk out to play on the beach all dressed in nice dry clothes and come back all wet, shivering and covered with sand. We really love the North end of the beach; it's quiet and laid back. If our house was on the South end we would probably say something similar about the South end. Thanks for the review and we will see you next year
