Many Updates: New Downstairs Flooring! New Bedding, New TV in Master, Wireless Internet Added and Free Unlimited Long Distance!!! New Flat Screen TV in the family room. Our home is a few streets back from the center of Duck and also is so close to the beach! We just love the fact that we are on a small private street and only have to walk a few minutes to be at the ocean (300 yards to be exact). We are also so close to the sound and the sunsets at night are beautiful there! Our house is called Duck Soup and is one of the original homes in Duck. We have recently redecorated the cottage and it looks great with so many cute flairs! We've updated the feel but still kept it quaint! This house has an outdoor hot tub right off of the kitchen on a screened in porch. Our kids love it and so do the adults. We also have an outdoor shower for showering after a day at the beach. Remember that we are pet friendly and have a fenced yard for your special family member you don't want to leave behind!
Duck Soup is great for families with kids as the kids can be upstairs in the loft watching movies and the adults can be downstairs watching what they'd like and fixing dinner! Upstairs are 2 bedrooms. One is the master with a king size bed. The master also has a private balcony where you can enjoy your coffee in the morning up in the trees! The 2nd bedroom has 2 sets of bunk beds. Both bedrooms share the upstairs bathroom in between the two rooms. Downstairs is the 3rd bedroom with a Queen bed and bath. Upstairs is a loft with a futon, Cable TV, DVD, VCR. Downstairs is the family room/dining room and kitchen. In the family room is the Cable TV, DVD and VCR. We have lots of movies to choose from as well as a few games to play!
Additionally, we have 2 adult and 3 kids bikes as well as chairs and bogie boards in the laundry room. Jump on those bikes and ride up to the quaint shops of Duck or rent a jet ski there and enjoy the sound views. Duck has tennis courts galore and loads of unique shops and restaurants. You can drive down to the Wright Brothers Memorial or visit the aquarium or many of the lighthouses around. Lots to do, but Duck is the place to stay as it has the quietness you want while on vacation with the proximity to everything!
Located in the Tides section of Duck, you will love your time in the Outer Banks by staying in Duck Soup!

Our family has loved this beach house. Our children are young and enjoy the hot tub right off of the kitchen as well as love having the beach right at the end of the street. We live relatively close and are able to enjoy our house in the off season.
Liz and Bruce Tuck purchased this house in 2005
Proximity to the beach- 300 yards away at the most! Private street with a fully stocked home- one of the landmarks at Duck. 'Duck Soup' is so close to the quaint village of Duck (less than 8/10 of a mile) with lots of shopping, restaurants, jet skis, boating, fishing options. The best in the Outer Banks!
Our cottage is pet friendly so you can have your precious 4 legged friend with you while you relax. You can walk to the beach and to the shops of Duck or take our bikes on the bike path and take in the sights of the Outer Banks. The sound and the ocean are minutes away!
We are thrilled to spend our Christmas holiday at Duck Soup! The entire family enjoyed themselves and the open floor plan allowed us all a chance to spend quality family time together. We were all sad to leave but the saddest of all was our dog George who isn't usually included in family vacations. We all loved the beach- especially George! Many thanks to Liz and Bruce!
The open den, dining and kitchen made it possible for everyone to be together no matter what we were doing. My husband took advantage of the hot tub morning and night ! The loft had a beautiful big window but no covering so the kids that slept there were up at dawn but it bothered me more than them. When you're young you can sleep anywhere! Our kids loved riding bikes to town which was super close and the beach the dogs loved. I hope we can make it back sometime. The homeowners were so nice and prompt to take care of any needs. We made some wonderful memories at Duck Soup!
This is the perfect location for a vacation! A short walk to the beach, or minutes away from shopping, dining, entertainment, we had it all here. We were pleased to find this beach cottage comfortably sleeps our family, was very clean, and supplied everything we needed for a relaxing visit. We will definitely be "repeat customers"
I'm pretty sure whomever does their cleaning, has been ripping them off for a few months (if not longer).
The hot tub area was unusable - too many cobwebs and spiders, not to mention the inch thick layer of dust on the cover.
Don't get me wrong, we weren't spending most of our time inside the house - but you know when something has been cleaned vs. when something has just been sprayed to smell like it's clean.
The first night as I was getting ready for bed (after walking around barefoot inside the house) my feet were black. I mean, black - like I was outside running around on the asphalt! And we checked in at 4pm.... so I was bit grossed out. And we all wore our flip flops inside for the rest of our stay.
Overall -- we chose this place because it was pet-friendly and just 1.5 miles down the road from where our other family members were staying (they have a timeshare in Duck). Not sure that we'd stay here again, but it suited our purpose for this trip.
Having been to the Outer Banks several times before, I knew what to expect: fantastic beaches rivaled by few other places on the east coast, a cozy atmosphere in the cute town of Duck, and an overall relaxing retreat from city life. We were pleasantly surprised by Duck Soup however. This is a cute, relaxing cottage about a 5-10 minute walk/bike ride to downtown Duck, and about 500 feet from the ocean. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing vacation.
Pros: walking distance to the beach and downtown duck, large hot tub on a screened-in porch, located on a private/quiet street, cute and well-kept cottage in arguably the best town on the Outer Banks.
Cons: dishwasher had an issue (that the owner corrected right away), tree on the back of the house is somewhat overgrown (branches could be heard scratching the roof above the master bedroom in strong winds - annoying at night), and a spiral staircase to get up to 2nd floor (fine for us, but may not be ideal for some people).
We will be coming back.
