Perfect location, perfect place, perfect weather

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here last month. I have never been to Smith Mountain Lake and was so happy with our stay. This was a complete shot in the dark because we knew nothing about the location or the cabin but it looked nice and the price was good. We won the lottery on this one! From beginning to end we couldn't have been happier.

I called the owners and when asked about the price was happy to hear that it was one price, including all fees and taxes. No extra pricing. As Joan said, " I hate it when you try to rent a place and you see one price and by the end you're asking 'Is this the same place' after all the fees."

We boated around the lake and this spot is one of the only places I saw with a no wake zone. It was quiet, water was around 80 degrees, had NO smell unlike most lakes, and was clear. The cabin is across from State land so the view is of forest and is great to relax on the dock with the woods to look at.

There was a great sized deck my wife and I relaxed and grilled on. The cabin was a great size with 2 bedrooms, a large living room, and a dining room. It has everything you need to cook and grill. We had some friends we met from the next door cabin come over and they said they thought it was a bit larger than theirs and loved the place. It was also a bit cheaper than theirs. They may rent it next year, hopefully not our week!

The cabin is within a 15 minute drive to the marinas and restaurants and the drive is beautiful.

The only thing I would caution about, which is more of a PSA and has nothing to do with the cabin, is letting your dogs walk in the woods or for kids to walk in the woods because their are a ton of deer in the area and a lot of ticks.

This place was such great deal. We were so happy this cabin was such a score. I couldn't have been happier with the place.

Quaint, cozy cabin set in the tree tops with views of Witcher Creek

  • 5 of 5

My family of four had a wonderful three day visit in this cozy cabin nestled among other similar cabins with a fabulous deck overlooking Witcher Creek below. The queen bed and twin beds were noted as being very comfortable providing a good night's sleep to all. The level drive in front of the house provided a great path to walk dogs and lead down a gradual slope to the level terrace along the stream bank. The slightly longer walk proved easier for some than the somewhat steep stairs on the back of the house (though these are well maintained). The small, but well thought out and outfitted kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill made meal preparation and clean up easy. Highlights of our stay included kayaking on the creek, exploring several coves along it, a black bear sighting (along a cove on the opposite shore of the creek in the state maintained land), catching a small catfish and a few little bait fish, swimming off the dock, and seeing a few shooting stars on a cloudless night during the Perseid meteor shower. What a memorable trip! Though we had no issues during our stay the owner was very responsive to all email/ communication.

Relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time staying at this cabin and we have had great experiences each time. We love that we can share our vacation with our dogs and take them out on the lake. The view from the deck is beautiful and the water is clean and refreshing. The cabin was extremely clean and the kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook dinners. The hosts are extremely helpful and got back to us within minutes when we had a question. Can't wait to come back again next year!
