Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I recently spent a week at the Lake House. We are three generations, and we range in age from 8 to 82. All of us had a great time, but especially the kids. The house itself is extremely comfortable, with the communal rooms spacious and inviting. It is wonderful how the kitchen flows into the dining room which flows into the upper floor living room. There is another living room, actually a TV room, directly below it. Both rooms feature huge comfy leather couches. The lake is great, and we kept the paddleboat busy every day. Weather while we were there maxed in the high eighties, but the airconditioning worked flawlessly. If you go, be sure to take in the Bushkill Falls. Do not miss the town of Jim Thorpe, which is about 40 miles to the south. Jim Thorpe is a perfectly preserved nineteenth century town, and is a gem. In it, visit the mansion of Asa Packer. About ten miles to the east of Jim Thorpe is the small town of Lansford, where you must visit the No 9 Coalmine and Museum. You have never seen anything like it. Not to be missed. Re restaurants, the town of Tannersville is about 20 minutes away, and has the standard assortment of restaurant chains. But something special there is the Tandoori Palace, with wonderful Indian food to enjoy there or take out.

Great lake house!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed a week at the house. Gorgeous and peaceful property location, right on the lake. The house was great, all the comforts of home. Thank you again!

House nicely located on the lake.

Beach nearby for the kids. Easy to put in our canoe and kayak. House large enough for all of us. Enjoyed the main beach too. Close enough to see nearby attractions. Really enjoyed our stay. Loved being able to look out the window and see the lake. Or just sit on the deck and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Not all it's cranked up to be.

The positives. The Pocono's are a great place for a family with small children to vacation. Lots to do and everything is fairly close by. The location of the house was great and the small lake that the house was on was pleasant. The house itself is a mess. The door leading out to the lake was broken and impossible for the children to open. When we went to heat up some pizza the oven door handle fell off. There was also a sofa in what should have been a breakfast nook that was so stained and disgusting that we put a sheet over it so that the children wouldn't touch it. In the downstairs area there was a sectional that was in poor condition so we never used that room. Also there were wires hanging out of the ceiling where fire alarms should have been. Even the codes for the garages didn't work. The electric starter for the grill outside didn't work either. We paid extra for the pedal boat that barely worked. This was probably a very nice house when it was first built but needs a lot of repairs to make it a vacation home. Go to the Pocono's but choose a different house.

Our vacation

  • 3 of 5

The house is a wonderful size right on the pond with beautiful views and very peaceful! It did seem though that the house has been a bit neglected, and it appears a bit shabby. The dining chairs and couch in kitchen are filled with stains and the outside and deck need paint and grass needs a good cut. The amount of money that's required to rent this home is too much considering that it's not in excellent condition. However we did enjoy our vacation there and had plenty of room for our family!

Owner's Response: We value your comments and we will strive to make the appropriate improvements to help maintain a high level of renter satisfaction. Sincerely, David. ps. The deck is going to be repainted at the end of this summers's season.

Fun in the Poconos

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean and spacious and nearby to the things we wanted to see and do. Very large and well-equipped kitchen area made it a nice and easy place for our family to cook and gather. The small dock and little beach nearby were used frequently. There were a number of little inconveniences about the house that made it less than perfect (e.g. the ice maker did not work, the garage door entry key pad did not work) but overall a nice house for our family vacation.

Great family vacation spot

  • 4 of 5

We just spent the week of July 4th at the lake house. It is our annual family gathering, we choose a different location each year and this year we landed in the Poconos. There were 13 of us, 8 adults and 5 children under 6 yrs. The house fit us comfortably with plenty of space for the kids to play. I especially liked the large island with comfortable seating for the kids in the kitchen. The kitchen had everything we needed with lots of silverware, pots and pans and dishes for our large crew.

The owner was very responsive when we had an issue with a paddle boat. He was traveling but contacted this maintenance person and the boat was fixed the next day.

We spent an awesome day at Camelbeach Waterpark, another day renting boats at Harmony Lake and saw a great fireworks show at Shawnee Mountain.

The lake near the house is a bit overgrown but the small beach at the boat launch next door was a great place for the kids to play and to try to catch fish with their nets. Our dog was with us and she loved being able to swim there everyday. We took several trips to the playground beach by boat; the area is clearer and everyone had fun playing and swimming there.

Thanks for a great family vacation!
