Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I recently spent a week at the Lake House. We are three generations, and we range in age from 8 to 82. All of us had a great time, but especially the kids. The house itself is extremely comfortable, with the communal rooms spacious and inviting. It is wonderful how the kitchen flows into the dining room which flows into the upper floor living room. There is another living room, actually a TV room, directly below it. Both rooms feature huge comfy leather couches. The lake is great, and we kept the paddleboat busy every day. Weather while we were there maxed in the high eighties, but the airconditioning worked flawlessly. If you go, be sure to take in the Bushkill Falls. Do not miss the town of Jim Thorpe, which is about 40 miles to the south. Jim Thorpe is a perfectly preserved nineteenth century town, and is a gem. In it, visit the mansion of Asa Packer. About ten miles to the east of Jim Thorpe is the small town of Lansford, where you must visit the No 9 Coalmine and Museum. You have never seen anything like it. Not to be missed. Re restaurants, the town of Tannersville is about 20 minutes away, and has the standard assortment of restaurant chains. But something special there is the Tandoori Palace, with wonderful Indian food to enjoy there or take out.

Not bad, not great

  • 3 of 5

Overall the house was ok. Definitely dated from when the photos were taken. Still clean. Enough room for a large crowd. Large kitchen to have a lot of people cooking at one time. The real down side was the outside area. Definitely needed some tending to. We payed extra for the boat rentals and were very disappointed in them. The peddle boat was filled with water which we sank the first time we got on it. We had to drain it which was quite a project and luckily my uncle was there to help us. The canoe had splits on it we had to go buy duck tape so we didn't sink that, also. The location was good. The house is right next to a small beach excess that worked out well because you could not get in the water off the dock very easily. If you have children, the beach excess was necessary. It seemed as if the property manager did not check in on small details and it seemed as if the owner was not around at all. He was also non responsive when we expressed our concerns about the boats.

And last the trash has a cost. One last thing, Was the trash. It was not explained well on the note on the refrigerator. You have to buy vouchers per trash bags. $5 a bag!! If you are with a big group and eating all your meals there, you make a lot of trash. Overall we had a great time but that is because we don't always have opportunities to get away as an entire family and the house did give us that. And the neighborhood was great! Quite!

Beautiful and close to everythings

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in this house for a quick getaway for 4 couples. The house offers more than enough room for all of us. The kitchen is huge and a great meeting place. The owners were very responsive as we had a snowfall and the driveway was plowed immediately. I would highly recommend this house. Close to Mt.Airy casino, Tannersville outlets and Camelback. Will definitely rent again.

An Elegant Home within a Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

This past August we rented this home and the home next door. This was for a week of children and grandchildren in one family having a cousins' and siblings time with their parents and grandparents. This home was elegant with a taste of "home". That's the best way to describe it! The house was lovely with loads of room - that even though we were using this house and the house next door, we were able to eat comfortably together between the 3 areas of eating: the kitchen island, the dining room table and the table on the deck! Everything was immaculate! We also had the use of a kayak, and a canoe and used them both on this beautiful lake.

Even though we did go and do activities with the children (whether it was rafting, ziplining, touring, swimming at the pool within the development, etc.), we enjoyed sitting on the deck the most and loved to just look at the beautiful surroundings - especially the lake.

We've been taking the children and grandchildren almost every summer for a week to the Poconos, but we never had a home and owners that was as outstanding as this home and these owners!!!! Thank you David and Johanna!

This was definitely one of the best places we've ever rented!

The Lake House is Awesome!!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful. Everything there is upscale and well maintained. The main floor has 3 bedrooms, a beautiful bathroom with double sinks and a laundry room. There is an enormous living room with an 8 seater couch. The room has a huge TV, a full fireplace, a beautiful oriental rug and a view of the lake. The lake has a private dock with a pedal boat and a kayak. The floors are wood, the décor is soft and calming.

One flight up is an enormous kitchen. Lots of counter space, an island with 5 stools, a microwave, a double sink, huge fridge, electric stove, tons of cabinets with dishes and pots and pans. That floor also has a dining room and another enormous living room with a view of the lake. Another beautiful, comfortable couch that seats at least 8 and another beautiful rug. There was also a lovely bedroom and full bathroom plus a master suite.

The bed is the master suite was enormous and high up. The comfort of all of the beds was unbelievable. The linens were top of the line. The master bathroom was huge with a Jacuzzi, separate shower and double sinks. The wrap around porch begins at the master bedroom and continues around to the front of the house. We ate some meals out on the deck at the table and chairs out there. It was a favorite spot for my grandchildren who loved to go out there and blow bubbles! The house had bubbles, dominoes, scrabble, a DVD player and some movies. The owners really made sure that there were those little extras that make the difference - towels, shampoo, bubbles, etc.

This house was such a great find. It was restful, beautiful, comfortable and secluded. It was also close to so many places. We went outlet shopping at Crossings, to the water park at Camelback, to Walmart for groceries. It is a great location and I recommend it to anyone wanting to vacation in a beautiful home away from home!
