This is a Caribbean style three bedroom, three bathroom house tastefully renovated and refurbished in 1999 and 2009. The villa enjoys a hillside site with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and Rodney Bay, as well as wonderful breezes from the Atlantic Ocean.
There is an open-plan kitchen, sitting/dining area. The kitchen has louver shutters opening to the view of the Caribbean Sea. The kitchen has granite counter tops with all new appliances. The cabinet doors are made of Caribbean cane keeping the Caribbean style of the villa. The living/dining area, with two ceiling fans, has louver doors opening onto a series of patios, all of which are built of natural wood and are situated around and within a flamboyant tree giving the feeling of a 'treehouse' and creating a most attractive and relaxing atmosphere. On the main patio there is a table for six people, a hammock and extra chairs for watching the sunset. The views are lovely of the Caribbean Sea and Rodney Bay. There is a cozy built-in area for reading and relaxing. On the 'treehouse' patio there is a table for four people with the flamboyant tree providing shade for afternoon lunches.
The 'treehouse' patio has a bridge that leads to the swimming pool, which is surrounded by colorful bougainvillea and tropical plants.
There are two double bedrooms on the main living level. Bedroom 1 has two single beds that can be made into a king size bed, with louver windows that look out towards the lovely flamboyant tree. There is a bath room off of this bedroom. Bedroom 2 has a four poster queen size bed with an en-suite bathroom. This bedroom has a door that leads to the swimming pool and sun deck.
The double master bedroom is at an elevated level. It has a queen size four poster bed and a large en-suite bathroom. There is also a private patio off of the bedroom which enjoys a fabulous view of the Caribbean Sea and Rodney Bay. This patio has two tables for eating and each seats two people.
All of the bedrooms have ceiling fans and mosquito nets. A housekeeper comes with the villa. Entertainment - music center and Cable, flat screen television.Extensive library for reading material. Games for the whole family. Internet WI-FI access is provided at the villa.
The garden is magical. It is very private, with many different palm, flamboyant and orchid trees. All colors of bougainvillea are throughout the garden. Our gardener went to the jungle and brought back lovely orchids which have attached themselves to the flamboyant tree on the 'treehouse' deck.
Brenda and Orleander are our housekeepers. If you buy the goods then she will make great Caribbean dishes for you on nights that you prefer to be at the villa to watch the sunset and not drive into the Rodney Bay restaurants.
The villa is 15 minutes from Castries Airport and 90 minutes from Hewanorra International Airport. International acclaimed Le Sport Spa is the closest beach only 5 minutes away. Reduit Beach and Rodney Bay are a 10 minute drive. The golf course is minutes away as are the tennis courts.

" We spent two wonderful weeks in your villa in St. Lucia. We were very impressed by the beauty of the garden; the house is very comfortable and well cared for by Greta! We recommend your villa for a wonderful vacation, where you can have a wonderful view."
Our stay at the hummingbird house was unforgettable. My husband and I stayed there in Dec 2015 for our honeymoon. The house far exceeded our expectations in every way. We have traveled all over the word and this house came with a level of hospitality and views rarely seen. The house came with a wonderful concierge service. Provided by a local woman named Margarete, her services included, but were not limited to, booking our helicopter transfers from the airport, booking our rental car, booking excursions, and providing restaurant recommendations. On our first day Margarete stopped by to welcome us a provide details with regards to the house and amenities. Among the various amenities, Margarete offered to assist us with procuring seafood from local fishermen, helped us to book excursions to the botanical gardens, Soufries, and then volcano. She also offered an in-house cook. In short, this was the easiest trip to plan. Our only responsibility was to book our flights and show up!The house was located in Cap Estate which is in the northern most point of the island. Nothing will prepare you for the view from the porch. The evening sunset is breath taking. The sun sets right over Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay. With the directions from Margarete we were able to easily navigate our way from the airport in Castries, where we helicoptered in, to the hummingbird house. It took about 20-30 mins. I definitely recommend taking advantage of the helicopter transfer. It cuts your drive time from an house and half to 30 mins and it’s a great way to see the island. The house itself is spacious and outfitted with all the modern amenities. A house keepers comes a couple of days to tidy up the rooms. You can let Margarete know if you don’t require the house keeper and would like more privacy. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and make you feel like you are on your own island. Eating breakfast on the deck and laying/napping by the pool became a familiar routine. We loved everything that the hummingbird house offered and will definitely be back again.
Let me start by saying that the Hummingbird Villa is a wonderful place to stay. My family and I headed to St. Lucia this year to celebrate the holidays, and when we arrived at the villa we were immediately impressed. Not only is it in a safe and beautiful neighborhood filled with lush trees and flowers, but from the moment you drive into the property you are absolutely blown away by the home’s various views.
No matter what window you look out of, you will see beautifully dense trees and flowers, and the ocean! The villa also has a great set of upper and lower deck/balconies. We ended each night relaxing out on the deck, which we all really enjoyed after being out all day exploring the island. And if we were not out on the main deck, you would have found us by the pool! The pool was a perfect size, the water was warm, and it's surrounded by (again) beautiful trees and flowers; it has a very private feel to it, which was great.
The house was also more spacious than we expected. We had a total of 6 people staying in the villa and there was always a place in the house to escape to, which is, let’s be honest, required when traveling with family. So just know there is plenty of room around the house and property to do just that.
Another important aspect about the house was its location. We had a rental car, and from the house it seemed as if you could get nearly anywhere you could possibly imagine going very quickly. We fell in love with the beach in Smugglers Cove located below the Cap Maison hotel. It’s a fairly small beach, set in-between beautiful cliffs, however it was never overly crowded. It was absolutely beautiful (and clean) and took about 5 minutes to get to from the house (there is also street parking right by the stairs that take you down to the beach). There’s also a restaurant right on the beach called The Naked Fisherman. I can’t even remember how many times we ate there, it’s amazing (order the fish n’ chips)!
The villa is also about a 10 minute drive to Rodney Bay, where there are little shops and restaurants. It’s also a little less than 10 minutes to The Landing’s Hotel, which had a great beach where the waves were small and consistent. The hotel also has a ton of water activities that you can pay to do, including wake-boarding, waterskiing, jet skiing, parasailing, and even water jet packs.
Overall, we highly recommend the Hummingbird Villa! You'll love both it and St. Lucia!
My boyfriend and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this villa. It is without doubt the best place we have stayed ever. The villa has the most unbelievable, breathtaking views you could imagine. Every morning we woke up, we were once again in awe. The kitchen is spacious and has everything you need to cook. There are multiple areas to lounge inside the villa and outside, to take in the picturesque scenes. The pool is absolutely perfect - it is private, surrounded by a garden, and there is enough room to actually swim around in.
In regards to location, it is at the very northern tip of the island - Cap Estate/Gros Islet. Rodney Bay is nearby, which has a mall, grocery store, and TONS of restaurants and bars. The northern tip of the island in general has several nearby beaches, all of which are stunningly beautiful and take 5-10 minutes to get to. I would highly suggest renting a car for this villa, it will be more convenient and save you money overall.
We took a day trip to Soufriere (about an hour and half each way). You drive down the West Coast, which is very scenic. Amazing view of the rain forest and coast. In Soufriere, we did the Tet Paul Nature Trail (views of the Pitons), Diamond Waterfall + Botantical Garden Walk, and Sulfur Springs + Mud Baths. When we finally got back to our villa that night, it felt like home.
The house keeper, Brenda, is also very nice!
I highly recommend staying here - we are a young couple but it would be great for a family, and really for anyone of all ages and interests. High remarks for privacy, views, and nearby restaurants and beaches. Wouldn't trade it for anything!
My family just returned from spending February break at Hummingbird Villa in beautiful St. Lucia. We had an amazing week, thanks in large part to this villa and its staff! Walking into the villa, after a tiring day of travel, we were met by the housekeeper, Brenda, who offered us cool washcloths and delicious rum punch! The villa exceeded our expectations in all ways; the pictures do not do justice to the beauty surrounding the villa and the views overlooking Rodney Bay and the ocean beyond - incredible! The villa is fully equipped with all necessities, as well as many extra amenities, including DVDs, games, and books. The kitchen is completely stocked with all appliances and cookware needed to prepare a meal and the grocery store (a great store!) is only a 10 minute car ride down the hill.
Marguerrite was very helpful in assisting with a sailing trip to Soufriere. This day-long trip is a must-do; our family loved this, with my 14-year old stating that it was one of the "best days of her life!" Marguerrite also arranged for fresh fish to be delivered to the villa, which was then prepared by Brenda, who is a wonderful cook! We took advantage of some of the great restaurants in Rodney Bay - "Buzz" was very good and "La Terrasse" was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Finally, the beaches around the villa were great - warm water, great waves, and peaceful settings. Our favorite beaches were the two on Pigeon Island (the hiking here is great) and Smuggler's Cove, where the waves are so much fun!
Overall, our trip to St. Lucia was excellent. We had researched many of the Caribbean Islands for our vacation and finally settled on St. Lucia for its diversity of landscape and outdoor adventures. Our expectations were exceeded in all ways. The island is beautiful, the people are SO friendly, and Hummingbird Villa is an incredible retreat of relaxation. And the weather was perfect!!
This was our first visit to the beautiful island of St. Lucia and we could not have chosen a
better location to enjoy Christmas in a tropical climate. The Hummingbyrd Villa quickly
becomes home away from home. The view from the main deck of the house is just beautiful. All three bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Our favorite feature of the house was the California shutters which could be opened completely not only to let in light but to allow an even more expansive view of Rodney Bay. I don't know anyone who would not naturally be drawn to the pool; it was like a private spa with the gorgeous bouganvillea and lush plantings surrounding it.
The kitchen was well equipped for those visitors who enjoy cooking their own meals ...
again that view from the kitchen once the shutters were open is something which makes you want to stay home and cook.
In all we were made to feel quite welcome by all of those associated with the villa. The housekeeper, Oleander, greeted us with a rum punch upon our arrival and had a meal
prepared for us as we arrived late in the evening. Margaritte, the property manager, met with us our first morning and provided a wealth of information about dining, sight seeing,
car rentals, etc. She also went out of her way to search for a sound dock for us so we could enjoy our own pre-recorded tunes for Christmas.
In summary, we would most certainly return to this beautiful villa. In the short time we were there it managed to capture our hearts and make us regret having to leave.
My husband and our two boys (aged 11 and 14) arrived on an afternoon flight from the UK, reaching the house by taxi as night fell (ask for Desir - he and his son are the best taxi drivers on the island!). So we unpacked a few things and fell into bed... we were completely unprepared for the most staggering view the next morning when we opened the jalousie windows of the master bedroom and stepped out onto our own romantic balcony. We lay in the hammock and watched the sun come up on Christmas Eve.
The master bedroom is stunning and has a very large en suite with his and hers sinks, as well as a shower, lots of storage for your holiday clothes and a safe. Downstairs the kitchen is beautiful, with marble surfaces and all the mod cons you need including picnic gear and cool boxes if you are heading off exploring for the day.
The sitting room has cable, DVD, music players. There is all kinds of lighting which you can adjust to suit your mood.
The other two (huge) double bedrooms each have their own bathroom (one is en suite, the other a footstep across the hall) and come with lots of storage also. One is a double bed and the other has twins.
The swimming pool area is so picturesque - you can lie on your sun bed and spot hummingbirds darting in the bougainvillea whilst you relax.
When you lock up and leave (for the day, or retiring to bed at night) there is a state of the art alarm system so you have no need to worry. We accidentally set it off on the first day (opening a door when we had it on) and we had a call within a minute from the security company, when we had to sheepishly explain our mistake!
We recommend you hire a jeep. The nearest beach is Smugglers' Cove, literally 4-5 minutes by jeep. Parking is free everywhere as far as we could make out. You can get very quickly to things like horse-riding, Segways, Reduit Beach and great fun & banana boats - and for the more sophisticated among us, the Cliff at Cap restaurant, the Spa at Bodysport, the golf course.
Everywhere on the island is only a day trip away. For example, we drove down to Sugar Beach (the resort between the Pitons) and had a wonderful lunch, and lay on the beach with the celebs afterwards (all beaches are open to the public). Marigot Bay is about 45-60 mins away, and by day it's great for kayaking - with access to the Roseau River - and by night, Desir will drive you to Rainforest Hideaway, an amazing restaurant you access by boat.
The perfect villa - the perfect holiday.
Hummingbird Villa is located in the popular Cap Estate area in the north of the island. It is very close, within walking distance, to the world famous, Le Sport Spa and Resort. The Golf course for all of the island is located right below the house about a 5 minute drive. Rodney Bay and all the amenities are about a 10-12 minute drive from the house. There is great snorkeling at Rodney Bay or Smuggler's Cove, a nearby beach. There are many day trips you can take such as a visit to the rainforest, a visit to various restaurants in the Pitons' area, Marigot Bay for lunch and snorkeling or a nice hike and lunch at Pigeon Island right below the house.
