About Lyne Vaillancourt

We were looking for a place to put our feet up from this crazy and fast life that we live in. One day, as I was taking a walk down the street with a friend I saw this little run down house. I just had to have it. It needed lots of work and lots of love but we bought this house because of the location and character it brings out from all of us.

Lyne Vaillancourt purchased this house in 2009

Why Lyne Vaillancourt chose British Columbia Mountains

This house is located in Dutch Creek Community set on the mountain side with many paths and near the Dutch creek river. The sound of the birds and the creek in the morning and the evening is very southing and relaxing to us. The atmosphere is so peaceful and very warming every time we visit. All the wild life activity is so amazing to watch and takes you to another world all together. You soon forget what life is like in the big city.

What makes this house unique

Some fines will triple under amended wildfire laws

3/10/2016 12:05 PM

VICTORIA - The B.C. government is taking a tougher stand to discourage behaviour that contributes to increased wildfire risks, to help protect communities, natural resources and infrastructure from wildfire damage.

Additional legislative changes will result in significantly increased ticket fines for 19 different violations under the Wildfire Act and for seven different violations under Wildfire Regulation. These changes mean that British Columbia now has some of the highest wildfire-related violation ticket fines in the country.

For example, the fine for failing to comply with a fire restriction under the Wildfire Act is increasing from $345 (including a $45 victim surcharge) to $1,150 (including a $150 victim surcharge). This represents a 333.33% increase over the old fine for that offence.

Wonderful family vacation home!

  • 4 of 5

I would give 4.5 stars but the app doesn't allow for that. The house was lovely and very clean. There was room for our whole family to sleep comfortably. We are a family of 7 + 2 grandchildren aged 1 and 3. There were 3 lovely bathrooms as well which were perfect.

The kitchen was spacious with a large fridge for all of our supplies. The ice machine was great! A tremendous amount of cupboard space as well. Excellent appliances.

Proximity to Fairmont and Columbia Lake was fantastic. Very quiet and friendly neighbourhood. We really enjoyed Tilley Memorial Park in Canal Flats. Lyne (the homeowner) was so wonderful to work with.

If you are looking for a lovely home to spend time with family in while enjoying the Columbia Valley this is a good choice.

Very nice quiet area, very nice home accommodated 7 adults and 3 children well

  • 4 of 5

Clean and organized great layout of home as bedrooms separated from entertaining area. There is a lack of common items that are needed when visiting i.e. Garbage bags, toilet paper, cleaning supplies.

Owner's Response: Hi Patrick, We are happy that you have enjoyed your stay! Pass guests would steal all of our supplies and made it very difficult to monitor. Therefor, we only supply enough to get you started for now. Everyone has their own preferences for supplies and we leave it up to you to bring your own toiletry and supplies. Sincerely, Lyne

The size was perfect for 10 people but needs some updating

  • 2 of 5

Wonderful location. Home was excellent size for our family of 10. However there needs to be some attention taken to the things that appear to have been broken and outdated for awhile. We didn't feel welcomed as we arrived. The long grasses on the path and the front deck is rotting. The back decks weren't swept, tables dirty and gazebo wasn't up. Inside there were many blinds that were broken and apparently had been that way for while. The couch mattress was horrid so we bought an air mattress. And not having a washer and dryer was really an inconvenience when we are only left 1 towel each for the week. There were other little things but these were the big ones.

Owner's Response: I am very happy that you enjoyed the cabin. I have addressed some of your concerns below: 1. We do have a new cleaner and they are doing a great job. We also close the cabin for every guest the same way for security and to keep the heat out. 2. We do not cut the grass as we are keeping our property as natural as possible. We do spray for weeds but sometimes them can be persistent. 3. The deck outside is surrounded by pine trees and is impossible to keep clean. Therefore, we leave 2 brooms in case our guests wants to attempt to clear. The font deck does require a few new boards every year since the snow is left on it all winter. The outside table is difficult to keep clean since it is outdoors.During a late spring storm we have lost our gazebo. We do plan on replacing it with a solid structure once the cabin is vacante. Sorry for the inconvenience! 4. The dishes are our guests to clean and return them to their place. We have advised our cleaner to do a spot check at every clean. 5. Thank you for letting us know that the electric kettle doesn't work. We rely on our guest to notify us of anything not working to allow us enough time to replace. We do have a stove top kettle as well that can be used. 6. The kitchen faucet may leak but you can play with it and it will stop. We are waiting for our plumber to fix when the cabin is vacante. 7. We supply 2 black garbage bags to get you started in the kitchen. Our guests are responsible to bring all toiletry and cleaning supplies for the duration of their stay. 8. The dishwasher soap is also to get you started. Pass guests have been stealing our supplies therefore, for years we have had to supply only enough to get started. In our agreement we list the items that we have in the cabin and the rest is up to your discretion. 9. We provide our guests with 1 towel each for their stay and advise them to bring extra towels for the duration of their stay for the beach and so on. 10. We mention in our agreement that we do not have laundry on site and that you can find a laundromat in Invermere. Sincerely, Lyne

Lovely BC Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for the weekend with our extended family to celebrate a small family wedding. It was a great cabin to share with so many people, because it offered a lot of space for each individual family to have their own area. The house is really clean and well organized. Furnished nicely, with most everything that you might need. We spent a beautiful evening outside enjoying a barbeque, on the deck . Unfortunately there was a fireban when we were there, otherwise we would have loved to sit around the firepit in the back one evening. The kids had a great time. Lots of space to play inside and out.

The only thing that we would have liked to see, would have been more paper products such as kleenex and paper towels, as well maybe some plastic wrap would have been nice to have. If you were to stay longer with kids, a washer and dryer are always welcome. Otherwise, the only other issue that we had was that one of our party had serious enviornmental allergies, and found that the downstairs bedroom was too damp, and she ended up sleeping in another bedroom.

We had a great weekend with our family, and would definately recommend staying at this cabin.

We loved the Fairmont Hot Springs Chalet!

  • 4 of 5

We were a large family staying at the chalet. The place was perfect for our needs - easy to get to, but quiet, spacious and cozy.

The kitchen was well equipped and had (almost) everything. It was clean.

We really enjoyed the outside as well and the whole area was great. There is a nice walk down to the river with a maze someone local built there.

There were no issues with any of the amenities or equipment.

The pool table was a bonus.

We recommend this property for large families or anyone!
